Several months ago, I switched from using Adobe Creative Suite, and jumped over to Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher. The learning curve was significant, but the rewards have been well worth the switch.
This time I'm talking about 10 things that I love about Affinity Photo that I struggled with in Adobe PhotoShop.

I switched for the cost and stayed for the ease of use.
yep
Adobe is pure greed. Having a viable alternative to Adobe is fantastic.
I agree, because competition is essential.
And I merrily chug along with CS.... and it still works!
Preach the truth, and their apps are becoming more and more buggy and poorly optimized.
Pirates
i have to sign in now every time I open Photoshop with my subscription. Like... why!
My friend : You Photoshopped this image?
Me : Nope, I Affinitied it.
Hah, exactly.
Technically, Affinity is the company, and PhotoShop is the name of the app, so technically “You Photoed it” lol
EjayT06 well, since you can render raster art in all three apps without leaving, “affinity’d it” would work
Dave Conrey ah okay lol
@@EjayT06 serif is the name of the company
I don’t rent my house, I don’t rent nor lease my car and I don’t rent my software.
So goodbye Adobe you were ok but not anymore. Same goes for Office 365 by the way.
I think that’s a solid plan.
I’m astounded to see this program costs LESS to buy outright than I pay for Adobe Creative Cloud every month.
Crazy, right?
Excellent video. I'm in the process of becoming a complete Affinity convert. I've used Adobe for 25 years and, personally, I'm astounded by the Affinity trio. I'm ready to say goodbye to the bloated expensive mess that is Adobe.
Kyle Shold thank you Kyle. I’ll keep making Affinity videos to see how many we can pull into the fold.
Kyle Shold What is the trio? I have Affinity Photo for IPad and just now heard about Affinity designer in this video. I canceled Creative Cloud 6 months ago. What other programs does Affinity/Serif make? Thanks in advance.
Andre Grizzle publisher
@@andregrizzle2287 Affinity makes Designer, Photo and Publisher. Publisher on the surface is a direct replacement for Adobe InDesign but it's much more. When you own all three apps and open Publisher it has access to the full features of Designer and Photo with in the app using the "personas" buttons at the top of the screen.. You can do layout, vector design and raster photo editing without ever leaving Publisher. It's really quite remarkable and in my opinion Publisher should've been named Affinity Studio.
@@KyleShold74 Good lord - skimming over their website - that last bit didn't stand out (probably because of the feature spec-pile). That's awesome!
I taught Adobe CS but now I am retired, the subscription price is outrageous so Adobe lost a customer that's been with them since PhotoShop 6 ( before CS), and they don't care. THEY DON'T CARE. I use Affinity now, it just feels comfortable, as a long term PhotoShop user in seems intuitive. And I own the program, I pried Adobe's fingers out of my wallet, I am happy!
Thanks Craig, I totally feel what you're sharing here! Giving the power back to the people.
Its tough. Adobe software is amazing, especially with CC in recent years. But the cost.... Interesting that the subscription cost has doubled for me over the years. Its like they leave a lure and when you bite they expect you to get the "I cant live without this" feeling and pay even more. Both Affinity photo and designer together cost close to 2 monthly subscriptions of adobe CC now. Adobe CC has alot more but for a hobbyist its just too much money.
Same here Craig. Loved Ps and the whole Adobe range TBH. Current pricing and rental over ownership model has really, really turned me off from them. Hell, I can kit out a MakerSpace in a community with Autodesk software for free because they see the relevance in people learning. Adobe? Not a chance in hell!
You are not alone Craig. The last product that I bought from them was CS4 and LR4.
I'm in the same situation Craig. I don't need all the bells and whistles of CC. Affinity seems to be adequate for my commercial work. I trained on Quark (when it was industry standard) and there were similar criticisms of Indesign - we all know the outcome of that!
I love that enough smart people were so annoyed by Adobe that now we've got viable replacements for just about everything Adobe has to offer. Affinity, Resolve, Cavalry...the future is looking bright :)
Agreed
I'm sure there are things that Photoshop can do that Affinity cannot. I'm also fairly certain that nobody outside of a certified Adobe Guru knows how to use those features.
Haha, truth.
exactly my thoughts
Christ - I've used Photoshop since it was beta (at a lab in college) and ver 1 the year it went official (at Pulitzer Publishing). I'm still unaware of a large chunk of useless add-ons that did nothing more than break workflow. I started to lose interest just before they went subscription only knowing that I'd be frozen in a title that was insanely priced and would only get obsolete over time more and more. The point (initially) of paying the CS Suite prices was that the longer you used it - the price over years would decrease the up-front cost. The idea of getting an entire suite of software that does 'what I need' for 180 - I'm in.
G'day Dave
There's on major points that is not known about how great AP is over PS.
It how AP saves a file. This is more apparent when you are working on a very large file, ie 100mb. Affinity only save the areas that you have worked on, but Photoshop save the whole image.
I have worked on the same file in both and to save a file in Affinity it may take a few seconds, while the same amount of work in Photoshop takes minutes.
To me this is absolutely brilliant.
Havagooday
Greg
I have witnessed this as well. Thanks for sharing.
I can't justify paying adobe what they want, forget that, I don't run a business to write that insane cost off.
so shopping around for the alternative and appreciate your no BS approach
L0rdCROISSANT happy to help
I went for Affinity and Resolve. Nearly 2 years, no regrets
nice
is affinity one time payment?
@@jedunboxing4127 yep
I use:
Davinci Resolve 16 (video editing) [replacement for Adobe Premiere Pro]
Affinity Photo (photo editing)
[replacement for Adobe Photoshop]
Fusion (video effects)
[replacement for Adobe After Effects]
Dark Table (photo editing)
[replacement for Adobe Lightroom]
@Wex No problem! Nothing on my list has changed. I still find Affinity Photo and Davinci Resolve to be some of the best value for money programs out there at the moment.
I am so happy with the three Serif´s applications. All the fantastic tutorials for so many people who are not professionals !!! For me they have been VERY IMPORTANT. James Ritson is the best teacher I have had. And now we got the Affinity 1.8 upgrade for free!! Thanks for sharing !
My pleasure
I switch over because the cost - I am team affinity

right plus its a One Time Pay and ur done, Ur not renting it, like the other one PS, that's just Ridiculous
me too
Great video. I have switched over totally to Affinity, all 3 apps. When working in Publisher, the "fluid" integration between the three apps is just amazing. Don't even have to open the various apps, all the different functionality in all apps is just there.
That’s one of the very best things.
Very simple: I bought each and every app AFFINITY makes, as soon as they were available for sale. FANTASTIC, solid, quality apps that let me do everything I need to do, faster, better and DEFINITELY CHEAPER than Adobe's apps. I primarily use them for making websites, sketching/digital painting, general photo editing. One main motivation was to OWN the software and not be held hostage to monthly renting fees no matter if I even use the software or not! Keep up the superb work Affinity (and please don't ever turn evil...)
Agree, 100%
Goodbye Photoshop, welcome to Affinity. I just bought Affinity photo with 50% discount. Hooray...
Hard to pass up on that one.
I hope Affinity considers keeping the price at 50%.
Just bought all three Affinity programs for $75, couldn't pass that deal up. Just leasing photoshop for a year is much more than that, I'm done with Adobe.
@@DaveConrey we needed to purchase both design and photo programs for a couple of us training developers at work. In the past the company has baulked at the cost of licences for Adobe products (I think when I looked into it, Illustrator was $350-odd for a 12mth subscription). One of our software engineers found Affinity Photo and Designer on line - we've now bought them for all of our office, and everyone has made the same comment - very similar to the Adobe products, but better in so many small ways. I've just purchased Photo, Designer and Publisher for my own personal use at half-price. $140 has given me permanent licenced installs, with ongoing support. I think Afffinity will continue to slowly erode Adobe's market share.
same, best decision of my lifee
Thank for the great review! I’ve been considering Affinity now that I’m getting back into graphics because Adobe’s prices are ridiculous and I’ve been subscribed to adobe for years now and I could’ve bought the program by now. This video has made me feel more excited and less doubtful about making the swap! Thank you so much!
You're welcome. Once you get over the small learning curve, I think you'll be happy with the decision.
I bought affinity for me and my sister and it's our new life!
Yep, slowly switching from InDesign to Affinity Publisher, thanks to you. I needed a professional's thoughts on this. Really happy I found you.
I’m glad you found me. 😉
Wow I am definitely checking this out now! I love the images option!
You should! Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much. I stopped using photoshop because of the unbelievable cost and upon googling an alternative, I stumbled on affinity. the cost is reasonable and your video convinced me even more.
Thank you so much, i look forward to your other videos about affinity
More coming as early as next week. Thanks.
You have a new subscriber. Getting back into photo editing and can't believe the way Adobe charges folks now. Was looking for an alternative and you have me sold. Keep up with the great content.
Thanks. I appreciate you for saying that.
Thank you for the video. I just bought it today based on your video!
Awesome. Glad to hear it.
The iPad versions of the apps are also so amazing, doing illustrations with Designer and the Pixel and Vector Persona idea makes it so friggin' seamless to work with texture and vectors!
I almost bought an ipad instead of a new laptop, but because of the time I spend doing video, the ipad has to wait, but it's on the list.
Great video, Dave. Love the Affinity videos. I am trrrrrying to get away from Adobe, using Designer and Photo massively, but still stuck on InDesign. Publisher doesn't seem quite there yet. Also really like the way you present your videos. You come across as very personable and likable. Thank you for valuable insights. Stay safe and well.
Mike Wiley thank you for the kind words, Mike. I do plan on adding Publisher vids to the mix, but I haven’t had much of a need yet. I do have some projects on the list though, so I’ll get to it soon.
@@DaveConrey Awesome. Fun stuff. Thanks Dave.
great video DAve love your videos you are very funny you give blunt straightforward information which is most appealing
I appreciate that! Thank you.
Hi again, not sure if this is the right venue to ask but here goesif you ever have some spare time would you consider doing a tutorial using just one hand? I ask because I am paralyzed one on one side and stuck in a damn wheelchair my typing is limited to one finger only. Thank you for your consideration.
I've just come across your channel and this is the 3rd video I watched of yours. I like your graphics and design style. I purchased all Affinity this year. I've got them but haven't moved across yet. Work still provides me with Adobe subscription but I wanted Affinity for my personal projects. I've subbed to your channel. I sometimes find myself watching rather than doing which is easy to do. Anyway trying to improve as a designer.
Awesome and thank you, Ian. If there’s ever anything you’d like to see me create here, feel free to shout it out. I graciously consider all requests
Great video Dave, thanks! You are easy to watch and explain things very clearly!
BakerExplores my pleasure. Glad you enjoyed it.
Noice review! I’ve switched to Affinity and haven’t looked back. They got me with their iPad version and now the desktop too... although I RARELY use the desktop version. I’m a photographer and of I can find an iPad version of a program to let me drop Lightroom, I’d be the happiest person alive!!
Thanks you.
Someone on another video mentioned Darktable. I don't know if it has an iPad app though.
No software is perfect. I've been using Adobe for 25 years and l've always found a way to get my work done with the tools l have. Using Affinity Designer for the last year, like it better than AI. I'm moving to Publisher, the recent update (Free) has made it more compatible with my workflow. A bit of a learning curve, but l've never subscribed to Adobe CC so it's great to move on from CS 6.
Couldn't agree more!
Great promo. I use Affinity for over a year now (because of the price). But I'm discovering daily how user friendly it is. Yes, your video is spot on.
Thanks for sharing! totally agree, Ruud
You convinced me. Thanks! My Photoshop subscription ends this month and I want a great alternative since I am getting into digital painting more. I been using PS to edit my images for my blog, but hate the subscription format.
Happy to help release the shackles.
I've lost the use of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign at home (was let go of my job recently after 16 years doing graphics in the trade show industry [thank you, COVID19] where we all had licenses) and just can't afford them on my own. I will definitely switch over after watching your video. When a door closes, another one opens! Instant sub!
I think you'll be satisfied with what you find. Best of luck.
A very useful feature of Affinity Photo is the real-time preview of the effect under the mouse cursor as you move it over the image. Makes things so much easier.
Shahrzaad Parekh ya, that is useful indeed
Thanks for the tips! 😃 🙌
I bought affinity photo because i hated the idea of being locked into a subscription model. I’m a web developer by trade, but i need something like affinity photo as part of my tool set. I’m never going back to Adobe.
Me neither, unless someone pays me to use it.
I switched from photoshop and Lightroom to everything Affinity, including affinity photo, designer, photo for my iPad Pro. I also bought affinity photo for my PC. Thinking about getting designer and publisher for the PC as well. I’ve barley scratched the surface on what this beasts can do. I’m into photo restoration, and going to do some stills with stock images, etc...Great layout of your top 10, thanks for sharing! New sub also!
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Cheers for this, best video I watched
Glad you enjoyed
Also used PS for 20 years. Tried Affinity on Mac several years ago and liked it but still went back to PS. Tried Affinity Photo again this year and have cancelled my Adobe account subscription with zero regrets. Serif has made these gems incredible at an unbeatable price.
agreed
One of the most underrated tools around. I have owned them (Photo and Designer) for two years now and I am very satisfied with them.
I agree.
I love the price point and that I own the program. I use to use Corel PhotoPaint but now I am using Affinity. Its really what i have wanted!
Nice. Thanks for sharing.
While I haven't paid more than 30$/month for the entire suite in almost a decade, I am a little software obsessed. This was a great overview! Thanks Dave!
I don't know how you got $30 a month because most people pay $50+, but even $30 a month is still more than double what Affinity costs, and I don't have to renew it every year. Also, right now Affinity is only $25 per program, so new people get an even better deal.
Dave Conrey agreed. In 2010 maybe, they gave me a promotional price of 29.99 for the entire suite because I tried to cancel. Every year since I end the subscription and the next day they offer the same price. 29.99/month. They’ll make the offer in chat too. But you’re right. It’s still a lot.
Glad I found this channel. I'm a designer who was fired from his position after the corona virus hit. My company was providing my laptop and the full Adobe suite and once I was let go I was left scrambling to purchase a new laptop and deciding whether or not I'd be sticking with Adobe since I'm currently jobless. I just purchased Affinity Photo and Publisher (will pick up Designer next week) and am planning on really digging into them and seeing how they compare to their Adobe counterparts. I just subbed you and look forward to digging through this channel in the months to come.
Thanks, and you'll be happy to know I'm publishing a new Affinity Publisher video today; just some pain points I've come across in the app, and how I found the answers.
@@DaveConrey can't wait
I am getting convinced, funny video hahahaha thanks man, good insight!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you for this video!
You bet!
Thanks to you am going to buy the whole thing
Dang it, Affinity! Where’s my affiliate code?!? 😂
I had been looking for an alternative to Photoshoo ever since it came out with a subscription model. After checking out Luminar and Pixelmator amongst others, I finally settled on Affinity Photo. Havent used Adobe for the last 3 years now. Also purchased Affinity Designer and Publisher. I love the ease with which I can work on Affinity and I didnt need to sell my house to buy them.
Same here Anand. It’s been just over a year for me and I can’t see myself going back to Adobe.
0:18😂😂😂 Dave my brother. How did you know that I like a little entertainment with my instruction. Thanks 🙏🏾
My pleasure. Happy to entertain.
I just heard of Affinity 2 days ago while researching. I've been trying to learn Inkscape and Gimp to avoid paying Adobe's monthly subscription fee!😭 I need it for specific things and haven't found any videos that go in depth start to finish, step by step with those programs. I need the software for (face masks right now) t-shirt making, mockups, typography effects, sublimation substrates etc... I'll look at your older videos and see what you have to offer. Thank you very much
ColdChills01 I personally haven’t gone that deep yet, but I can tell you, as a professional who has used adobe for more than two decades, Affinity Designer and affinity Photo have what you need for those things you’re talking about.
@@DaveConrey Along with publisher, it's an unbeatable package.
just purchase the affinity photo.looking forward to learn from your channel😊😊👍👍
Awesome! Thank you!
thanks so much for the video, as a beginner i learned a lot ;)
Glad I could help!
Both Photo and designer are 50% off at the time of this comment. Incredible deal. I'm trying to switch from Photoshop cus it just seems like a dinosaur.
DeAndre Wilson yeah, it’s an amazing deal right now.
Yeah, I had been mulling it over for about a year, maybe longer...using Gimp because even though Adobe subscriptions are "cheap" to start, it adds up quickly over time. When I saw the sale price, I jumped on it immediately - all 3 apps. Couldn't be happier.
What was the sale for? Its st 30% now at black friday and i will absolutely wait for 50% again
@@ClarityEmerald it’s 50% off again right now
Might have to check it out
The Affinity suite has been solid for me, and aside from the task of trying to find out where a certain tool is compared to my Adobe experience, I am 100% pleased by the switch. I’m $500 richer this year because of it.
Great video thanks!
Glad you liked it! Thanks.
Why I like Affinity more than Photoshop: I was finally able to delete all of the Adobe bloatware off my computer.
So worthwhile.
You've got a new fan.
Thank you! 👍👍👍
Thanks. I was hoping for more. I didn't see much 'photo' in the comparison; looks like your emphasis is design. I appreciate your thoughts.
Yup, designer and artist. That said, it’s still a very powerful tool for photographers
@@DaveConrey Thanks, Dave
They should sponsor you. that answered all my questions I'm sold downloading my free trial today. thank you for the good video.
They totally should! Thanks for watching, and I'm glad you got your answers.
Hi Dave, I am also falling in love with the Affinity suite of products. I've been using Adobe InDesign to do my work in the newspaper I publish. Why? Because it's the standard that everybody has been using. But, oh my goodness, it's only available to me by subscription, which means that over time I pay a lot of money just to use it. The Affinity products have licenses I purchased. In one year of Adobe InDesign subscriptions, I paid more than I paid for all the Affinity creativity programs suite. Oh, yes, I will be cutting loose from Adobe. I'm doing it incrementally - just because. So happy to find you and your channel. I am now subscribed. Thanks! (Oh, yeah, there are tools here I have no idea how to use - so, it's an adventure.)
Yeah, the discovery of new tools is always fun. Thank goodness for CZcams!
Great info. Thanks. I did not stick with Adobe because they priced themselves out of my budget. I'm retired now so my work is for fun.and, not profit. I plan to purchase this product. It will be fun. Thank you again for sharing.
Enjoy the switch
I use Inkscape for my needs and heard about affinity from Logos by Nick. I think I will invest in this software and step up my game. This video sealed the deal for me. Thank you for the information.
You’re welcome.
Cool man. I left PS 3 years ago since then, just Affinity and Capture One the best solution.
Waldir Borba Junior thanks Waldir
Thanks for the comparison!

My favorite part was the ad before this video was for Photoshop. Ive been using Affinity for just over a year now and don't plan on switching back to Photoshop anytime soon.
Yeah, Adobe is flexing hard up in here
Great review, thank you! I am a long time Adobe person, but hate the monthly pay to use. I also use Luminar, but am excited to try Affinity
Right on. Best of luck.
I recently bought them all.. 25 ea isn't bad because I didn't want to pay the subscription for Adobe CC. Take care. I would buy them all again for my iPad.
David Rivera it’s a smokin’ deal right now.
Thanks, this video was very informative, I've been thinking about switching to Affinity, Adobe is just not what it used to be.
Thanks. Glad you liked it. Affinity isn’t perfect, but they do a really good job of holding their own.
I made the switch too, long time user of Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign, these last two I didn´t used them as much as Photoshop, but from time to time I needed them to do some presentation or vector for printing. Soon I found out Affinity had the 50% discount it was a no brainer... Bought the three programs and now don´t have to worry about licenses, which as an independent artist is a big help.
couldn't agree more.
Totally agree!!! ADOBE are a bunch of coupon old hats with expensive ripoffs! Love your vid bro!
Thank you Julian
I first started using Adobe Photoshop when it was Photoshop 5.0 lol in college. It's a huge adjustment working in Affinity Photo after working Photoshop for so long. I still have Adobe cs6 on my old computer but buying a new computer I needed a good alternative to Photoshop. I had to do some research to make of the workflow between Affinity Photo and Capture One.
Thanks for this!!!
Nikon Chic my pleasure. I rally wish I still had cs6, but since Adobe isn’t supporting it anymore, it would be probably not work on a newer machine.
Dave Conrey yeah I’m sure there is a way around it. I’m not that confident to make it work. In macs you have to go through the terminal, etc....yeah no....
I'm a graphic designer, artist, photographer and I no longer have the Adobe programs nor do I want to pay the ridiculous price for them. I just bought Affinity and I can't wait to use them. 😁
Enjoy
Even if you can just afford one of the affinity apps right now get started for half price. I have affinity on my Mac and iPad and transitioning now. Looking forward to publisher on iOS 👍🏽
Vo-iD Projects yeah, hard to pass up on that price alone.
I bought the 3 Affinity softwares and just leave Adobe after 15 years using'em. This was the best thing I've done. I'm totally satisfied and my work flow is even better.
Agreed
sounds exciting.
Super exciting
Recently switched from Aobe after several years and I have to say , I did not expect to feel this relieved. Affinity software surprised me in so many ways that I feel weird thinking that I don't have to pay subscription anymore, yet use software that I'm enjoying more than ever.
If there will ever be paid updates in the future, I'm grabbing them day one
Right, it’s like we’re somehow cheating the system.
I've just bought the Affinity trio, so far I've really liked them.
Only thing so far that's missing is a Adobe Bridge equivalent for selecting images.
Ive heard a few people mention that Publisher could do with a e-publication feature.
Great work Affinity - I'll try and spread the news for you. 👍 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
yeah, a Bridge equivalent would be helpful, especially for people who manage several assets at once. I used to use Bridge a lot when I was a magazine art director. I haven't had much use for it now that I work on mostly my own designs, but I can totally see that being a benefit.
After using Photoshop for like 13 years, InDesing for 8, and only occasionally Illustrator I was more than happy to switch to Affinity trio. All three work like a charm. Switched last year and not regretting that decision.
Awesome. I just released my first breakdown of Affinity Publisher today. Hopefully we can now convert the Adobe devoted. czcams.com/video/dUhGoXvg1fc/video.html
I have all three of the Affinity products, and I love them. I have found them to be much easier and quicker. I do wish that they had a Warp Tool that will "bend" my shapes, and a Perspective Grid that automatically puts your work in the correct plane and perspective, but I think these things will come eventually.
Amanda Strong the warp tool is definitely one of the things I miss. They have one, but it’s clunky and not intuitive.
Thanks Dave for your quick response! Where is the Warp tool? Also I wish I could resize objects by simply typing in, "50%" or "115%". Is there such a way?@@DaveConrey
@@fitamanda33 not him, but yes and yes.
Go to the bottom of the tool bar on the left side of your screen and you Will find the warp tool besides/inside the perspective Tool.
About the resize thing, click on your object and go to the right, next to the "layer" on the "transform" window. :)
@@lucasjacksoncover1 Thanks Lucas! Great help!
I love your enthusiasm and humor! Terrific video, thanks for the detailed comparison and examples. I've been using Photoshop since 2.0 but I've had enough of the subscription fees. I am going to give Affinity Photo a try. Also ... I like the big painting in your background. Is that yours?
Glad it was helpful. And yes, that is my art in the background.
That art is dope
Thanks
Looking forward to getting deeper into the Affinity software. I've been an adobe user since Illustrator 88. Dating myself there. I've worked in print shops since graduating from school and have experience with all the graphic softwares. As a service bureau back in the day we had to have everything at hand as Acrobat PDF didn't exist. I had purchased my affinity license way back when they first came out (for home use) but at that time my macbook air wouldn't run it efficiently. We've since upgraded to a newer imac and I've dabbled with the software recently to work on some invitations and I have to say it was okay but... I think will take me some time to get the hang of it. Biggest pet peeve out of the gate... why is it so difficult to get my hidden characters to view. To me formatting text without them is near impossible. Thanks for posting this and looking forward to more Affinity tips.
Thanks for watching.
I love Affinity Photo as well great program
so great
Affinity is love ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m sure they will love that you said that (Affinity is watching. 😉)
I started doing more photography with my salon business, I bought Lightroom cc for a year and a friend introduced my to affinity during quarantine,,,and since I had lots of down time iv been learning my way, I just learned how to remove objects from photos and have been very happy , not sure if I will keep light room, simply because of cost , I only bought Lightroom because I wanted to be have professional results, I get those with affinity, and it doesn’t cost $100+ a year
Dynzle kellebrew Exactly. I know there are some people that are super power users when it comes to Lightroom, and maybe affinity doesn’t quite get there, but for 90% of the people out there, affinity photo is totally on par.
Adobe subscription model pushed me to Affinity - why rent when you can buy? Absolutely no regrets and have recommended others give it a go too. Very similar to Photoshop in layout and it's very customisable so switching is easy.

Mate, only watch to halfway thru this video and already going wow to all these simple feature sets Affinity has to offer. My boss pays for my Adobe ID at the moment thou PS has been a pain in Ah-hem. Going to buy Affinity Photo for myself me thinks. cheers
There will be moments where you'll wish it did things Photoshop does, but I've personally found ways around all my old PS habits. I have quite a few videos here about Affinity Photo (and the other Affinity apps). Check 'em out if you get stuck.
@@DaveConrey I went and bought Designer first, I have very little experience with Illustrator etc. I was watching & Designer tutorial & soon as I saw the Vector crop tool being used.......Bam! had to have it lol. cheers
I used photoshop since it was Aldus Photo Styler and Illustrator since ver. 3.
When I retired in 2006 I refused to upgrade to the latest Chicken Shit version and found Serif. I have used the Serif Suite ever since, with NO regrets. Used for all kinds of community service projects, tickets, posters, programs, etc.
I recently upgraded my 'puter so went now, happily using Affinity. Loved Adobe, over the moon for Serif's Affinity.
Nice Lynn, thanks for sharing.
WOW, so happy I stumbled across your awesome video - helped a lot. I've used Micrografx for years, they're out of biz, mine is corrupt, so desperate to find a program easy to use and fast! Thanks for your honesty--were you a DJ at some point? lol Not going to even try PhotoShop with the horror stories I've heard. A senior citizen needs such a program as you mentioned with Affinity.
Thanks Leah, although I have a face for radio, I have never been a DJ. 😉
I'm an absolute beginner in graphic design. Been testing their products & so far the experience is good. I learned a lot of things before the trial ends. I'm sure you'll enjoy using Affinity products for your designs.
Hoping some day the photoshop updates the ui and im tired to go to the menu and chose things that should be more easy to use the snap option is as an example, it should be a little ckeck box, maybe with a right button to chose options. Thanks Dave for this video, it make much more sense what you are shoing here. Thanks a lot!!

Thanks! I just bought it for $25, im no pro and I don't want to be, but anything is better than ms paint and at this price its a steal.
80sReplicant indeed. Hard to beat the price for what you actually get.
I've been using Photoshop since Version 5, way before CS then illustrator a year or two later. I've recently moved to Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer because it JUST MADE SENSE for my needs. After being able to do so much of what I had to do on Photoshop, in Apps!! I started thinking "there's gonna be a better option coming along", sure enough here comes Affinity!!

I will
I've just completed a long technical publication, with all the bitmap images edited with Affinity Photo. I've started learning the program nearly three years ago, and entirely replaced Photoshop with it about one year ago. It was not just a replacement: I even got something like the Export Persona, that made my work on images and exported details much, much easier and faster.
nice, thanks for watching
Thank You.
You’re welcome
Yup, ditched Lightroom for Capture One Pro, and ditched the rest of Adobe for the entire suite of Affinity apps. I have never looked back and couldn't be happier.
KC Honie nice
Nice Review - This may be a good switch.
Ban a pretty good transition for me.
Great presentation...
Glad you liked it!
you're def making me consider the switch
Lots to consider but I’ve been satisfied with the choice.
The hot keys are the same across the programs. Also if you look at the top left hand corner you can switch from program to program without having to leave the one you are in. They also have some cool premade font effects as well. I'm a teacher and I've been telling my art students to go with affinity for their photos. I can't in good conscience ask students to fork out for adobe but affinity is in their price range.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for this overview buddy 👍
Kitting out a MakerSpace here in rural Wales... how would you describe the learning curve/change between using Ps and moving to AP?
Having Ps on all seats would be completely unfeasible... at
I don’t think the learning curve is too steep. At the core, they are very similar. It’s more about finding where everything is within the app.
I just cancelled my adobe plan yesterday and switch to affinity and since yesterday on my facebook, ig and every social media, i got ad from adobe and their coupon, lol. I m so done with their subs.
Kelvin ZLN yep, they’ve been trying to get me back so hard, it’s almost embarrassing for them.
I don't want to pay for a program monthly to monthly.
