    I say this without any level of exaggeration - I think Anthony Morganti has done more to help the Beginner / Intermediate Photography Community improve their skills at Photoshop , Lightroom , Affinity etc than any other person I can think of - he is a truly remarkable teacher and human being . Thank you , sir .

    Thank you for hosting this series! I haven't read through the other comments, but one quick note: Ctrl+ or Ctrl- will zoom in/out, but you can also use the Ctrl and mouse wheel, or if you want a specific amount you can use the keyboard numbers - i.e. Ctrl 1 will zoom into 100%, Ctrl 2, 200%, etc. Ctrl 0 (zero, not o) takes you back to fit screen

    Great introduction, thanks so much. I've been using lightroom for ages, but frustrated with the subscription deal. I moved to serif, then affinity designer some time ago (love that) and had tried to make the move to affinity photo a couple of times, but was toiling to recreate the almost second nature lightroom workflow, as there's just so much in affinity photo. This quick start video hit the perfect level to help me make the permanent switch from lightroom.

    Anthony you have such a great tutoring style, you make things so simple to follow and understand. I use mainly LR 6.14 (I don't like subscriptions) and L4 although I'm sure I don't maximise their potential. I have other editing software i.e. ON1, Smart Photo Editor, PSE 2020, the OLD Nik collection but I tend to 'go to' LR & L4. I decided based on the social media publicity, marketing etc etc to go ahead and buy Affinity Photo (BTW in your No1 video it looks like the version I have is different from yours as my Vignette is in a different menu place). I felt totally out off my comfort zone and thought "what have I done" I had no idea what I was doing or how to go about using it - layers, masks OMG. Then I found your video series. Thank you for convincing me I haven't wasted my money. You switched a light on for me and I'm looking forward to the learning journey with you as a great tutor.

      I have used Photoshop elements for as long as I've been doing photos, about 10 years. I refuse to do a subscription with PS. I am aggravated at this point by the limitations but I do use a lot of plug ins. I'm trying to get the courage to change to Affinity Photo. Is it really worth it for me? I would like some artistic plugins that elements wont allow. It is a dilemma. It would take me a while to make the change. Advice appreciated.

    • @markwith140
      @markwith140 Před 4 lety

      @@marthah6650 I like you have fallen out of love with Adobe due to their pricing policy, there are other tools on the market that do the same as Lightroom (Exposure X5 is a viable alternative) and photoshop (affinity is a viable alternative) at a much cheaper price. I have used photoshop with plugins. I have moved to Affinity and it does pretty much what photoshop does and for the most part it does it in a similar way. Not all methods are the same of course, but there is a lot of video support both on the affinity site youtube. It does support photoshop plugins, for example I am using Nik plugins (and others) with affinity without issue. Currently affinity is around £25 in the UK (I hear $25 in the US), at that price it is a bargain. I found it quite easy to shift. One thing to note is that affinity is more like full photoshop rather than Elements.

    Thanks for the series! I've been wanting this for some time. As for lens correction, you can turn off/on automatic lens correction in the "Develop Assistant". However, I think Affinity Photo has bugs when identifying what lens is being used. When I turn off/on automatic lens correction, I can't tell whether or not it's being done. At least I can't tell based on my files. There is more information in the Affinity Forums on this subject.

I use Lightroom for up to 85% of my photo adjustments and go to AP for stylisation when I need to. AP is not an alternative to Lightroom - yet! I do believe the Serif software engineers (authors of AP) are currently working on DAM but it is not currently available.

    Not bad but the fundamental fail is the assumption that somebody new to Affinity is not new to photo-editing (like me) and as a consequence much of what I considered complex you took as read. Surely the starting point is aiming at somebody who has decided to move on from the cell phone (USA, I am English by the way) and wishes to improve their photography - from a negative base line.
    From many years personal experience I have found that when teaching just assume the class knows nothing - start from scratch. If you think you are starting from Basic Basics you have probably found the correct starting point.
    I wish you well and thanks for this - well paced and no annoying muzak.

    Can you convert a photo into a smart object?

      Affinity Photo does a bit differently is that every new image brought into a document is automatically a Smart Object. And just like in Photoshop, you can Right Click > Rasterize any smart object to rasterize the layer.

    Anthony, love your videos but this one is really outdated. Do you have a newer one on Affinity Photo?

    the vidéo is for me more valuable than the software.
    Pedagogical as always
    But can anyone explain to me the use of a "One by one photo" software ?
    Even in the analog days, who would seriously process pictures without a contact sheet ?
