    Great video and beautiful bike! Appreciate you shedding light on 2strokes. Around the 10 minute mark when you were discussing “bucking” and shaking I think you implied it was due to the carb or something. To clarify the reason your bike is so smooth is 2017 + ktm 2strokes have a COUNTERBALANCED crank shaft. So the engine virtually is as smooth as a 4stroke. The pre 2017 bikes did not have this and vibrate much more like my 2008 ktm 250 xcw supermoto (I actually like the vibrating it feels so raw like a race engine). Back in the day guys used to get their crankshaft modified and balanced to increase rotating assembly efficiency. So in other words if you have an older 2stroke you could get the crankshaft balanced pretty cheap next time you do a full rebuild. Also I think you would be happier with a 250 than a 300 as the 250 feels like it revs much higher. I made the switch from 300 -> 250 and love it. Happy riding!

    I had one of these a loong time ago. 2008 300 EXC, almost new. Powerfull and nimble bikes. That has always been what why I like ridin' motorcyles so much. I've ridden a 900 touring the last 5 - 6 years now, but I always look back from time to time, and dreaming of having a second nimble + powerfull bike with an eargasm sound. And the 250/300 fits that role perfect.
    Bad negatives sides with these bikes are fuel economy, not the cheapest bikes to buy or maintain so it's the smart choise.. But.. It's the fun choice! Whitout a doubt😀😍

Am I in over my head getting this as my first bike? I still need to figure out exactly how to make it street legal. Thanks man

  • @anthonyfasano5163
    @anthonyfasano5163 Před 3 lety

    I have a 2019 500, same gearing, with athena ecu, fmf titanium silencer, and high flow air filter. I have a top speed of around 115mph, can coast at 80mph on the highway no problem, and can clutch up all six gears. Thinking of going with a 300 to have something different. My question to you is, what’s the top speed of that set up? And how do you feel about the power of 5th and 6th gear with that gearing?

    • @SUPERMOTIVE
      @SUPERMOTIVE  Před 3 lety +3

      Short answer - I haven't topped out the bike yet. According to gearing commander, it SHOULD top out at 96mph with 14/44. I'd say max comfortable cruising speed on this is 55mph, 60 and above gets kinda tiresome on the highway. As far as power, I'd say it's decent once you're on the pipe, but I haven't tried clutching up above 3rd. At low RPM your 500 will have heaps more torque.

    • @anthonyfasano5163
      @anthonyfasano5163 Před 3 lety

      Good to know, thanks for the info bro! I might have to keep the 500 and add the 300 to the stable as a second bike then lol. I do track days with the 500, road course...not supermoto specific. And the 500 holds its own against all types of bikes, i don’t think the 300 would do quite as well, but it would be a blast to bang around on the farm roads and twisties!

      I didn’t yet, i did buy the hinson slipper clutch for the 500, and i have an appointment to get it custom tuned at a local race shop. I decided to get the 500 completed before going with a second bike for now. Next step is supermoto specific suspension, and maybe a new triple tree with adjustable angle settings. Trust me tho, the 300 is always on my mind lol

    how's it going man, did you have a speedo issue when you set up the moto master front brake caliper. i set mine up yesterday and my speedo isn't working

    • @SUPERMOTIVE
      @SUPERMOTIVE  Před 3 lety

      I am using the OEM caliper with a Warp9 rotor, and had no issues, I have not used any moto master products myself. However, here's a few questions that might help you narrow down your issue.
      - Did the caliper adapter move the location of the speedo sensor? See if it still lines up with the magnet on your brake rotor.
      - If you replaced the brake rotor, make sure it came with a magnet, and like mentioned above make sure it is passing across the speedo sensor
      - Check the speedo sensor plug, make sure it's connected and see if a wire was damaged
