Billy Crystal once won $1,000 from Robin Williams in a bet over Don Rickles. In this episode of “Dinner with Don,” the comedians talk Don’s long friendship with Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack. Billy does his Sammy Davis Jr. impression and Don does his best Clark Gable and Anthony Quinn. "Dinner with Don" is a legacy series celebrating Don Rickles' life and career. It was produced by AARP Studios, Winbrook Entertainment and Stamper Lumber Company.

@AARP Rickles is a great guy, but it's too bad he brought up the war criminal, "Bush Senior" (George HW Bush), the overt racist who accelerated the war on drugs that militarized police and destroyed poor communities around the United States, and that you chose to include that section. Definitely ruined the delightful tone of the piece.

Don's wife Barbara passed away a few weeks ago at the age of 84 years. They are together again and to their family members, your parents are still with you in spirit. MAY THEY BOTH REST IN PEACE AND ENJOY BEING IN HEAVEN TOGETHER.

blinko656 Not really. He knew when to draw back. These days, people are worse and yet can handle less criticism. If anyone would want to be a standup, they would have to be more clever and subtle because it's harder to speak the truth nowadays.
I saw Don perform at a dinner theater with 2 friends back in the 1970s. I was 17 years-old at the time. My friends and I are Italian, and the club had a dress code, so we were dressed in suits.
Don noticed our table and introduced us to the crowd as the 'junior Mafia'! So we had the honor of being insulted by the great Don Rickles! A memory of a lifetime.

Even if failing health, Don was still sharp and quick with the jokes. Don is a legend! One of a kind and will never be duplicated.

@@grumpyguss agreed x i was at a coffee bar here in glasgow scotland i was reading the scottish times newspaper when i noticed at bottom page that don had died :( i felt real sadness thinking about all the laughter he gave me over the decades i felt as if a close friend had died
When Billy said "we should do this again" and Don responded "You're not strong enough", I think that was recognition that he himself wasn't going to be doing this much longer, which is why he was doing these vignettes. That was a bittersweet response.
I believe, maybe I am wrong, you can see that he knew that the final curtain call was close.

Then he wished him a happy new year knowing full well he wouldn’t see the end of it

When Don and Billy are saying so long, Billy has a look on his face that he knew this would probably be the last time he would see his dear friend. ❤
You could feel the heartfelt goodbye from Billy as they were ending, Don as well. Like he knew that was probably going to be the last time he gets to talk with him.
I felt it! How many times do we say goodbye to relatives and "just know" that's it but you can never express it openly.

My Dad is a year older then Don, WWII Vet etc........Don looks just like my Dad towards the end.....they both got super skinny and frail looking.....at the time I was in denial, but I knew deep down things were winding down...My Dad passed in 2017 too....I love you Dad....

The absolute reverence and respect that Billy Crystal shows for Don got me misty. There is so much mutual love in this interview, it really shines through.

Saw Don Rickles in Vegas. He did a solid hour and a half of hilarious jokes with out ANY inappropriate language and was funny as hell. AND, he punctuated his humor with music....who know Don Rickles could sing, and beautifully! God Bless you Don. RIP
I didn't know Don could sing. That's cool that you got to see him. I missed my chance. I know he did some wonderful impressions of actors like Gable, Lancaster and Quinn, as evidenced here. I remember them being better when he was younger, of course.

Whom ever came up with this series is a genuine genius. This episode with Billy is my favorite so far. I got to see Don at The Sands in Las Vegas, with my parents (!), in 1979☆. Guys like him should be able to live forever just to keep us on out toes. ♡♡♡♡♡

People like Don Rickles came with the territory in an era that would be considered politically incorrect today. We'll never have more like him because we're too thin skinned.

I'll say this again....... with all the humorous abuse he throws out there when he stops and pays you a compliment and wishes the guest well .... it comes from such a genuine place its such a about turn I get choked up EVERY time. What an AMAZING man !!!!
He was a master at almost instantly diffusing tense situations before they could even start to escalate. In his interview with Zach Galfianakis, he mentioned that he always knew when he went too far with a joke or a roast. That takes a lot of skill to hone in on people's emotions like that so quickly.
I've seen so many comedians who try to take on a heckler in the audience completely buckle under the pressure. Another problem you have to figure out is how to not dig a hole and jump into it when you are engaging another person.
You'd never see Rickles in those situations because he could see them coming a mile a way and offer a quick apology and maybe a handshake before that person even had a chance to yell at him.
Not only did the giants of the industry respect Don, they loved him. I mean they truly loved him. I'm glad he was able to do these types of things right up till he passed.

One of the all time great. I saw his act several times over the years. Even with all the insults his sweetness always showed through.
Nobody made Frank laugh like Don, that's why Frank loved him so much, he never stopped laughing when Don was around.

I think Billy is honouring the elderly comedian who despite his frailty can still tell a good story and deserves to share some funny memories. There were some good moments here and prob one of Rickles last interviews. Peace.
It was one of his last. The very last one was with DeNiro and Scorsese. Very sad...he knew he didn't have much time left.

Mr. Rickles is one of those guys that's always been old, but sharp as a tack. He started his comedic genra, and still no one is better. You can tell he's really a gentleman at heart.
