- KUTX is proud to have played host to five-time Grammy winner and Lone Star native Christopher Cross. His musical talent, fantastic band, and charming sense of humor (!) put an excited and crowded Studio 1A entirely at ease. And with his hit "Sailing," we couldn't have felt more caught up in the reverie. Live in KUTX Studio 1A July 26, 2013
- Hudba
Mr. Cross was stricken badly by Covid-19. Months later he’s still recovering from secondary effects. He’s still able to sing, and sing well. Continue to pray for his recovery (and the recovery of others, too).
Didn't know that! Sad! But I'm praying for him and anyone suffering!
Bless you, Mr. CROSS! Take the Vitamin C Emergenc' E. It will HEAL you. I PROMISE One packet a day! Every day, ok? . Looks like a pack of Orange Koolaid, Ok? You'll always have GREAT HEALTH! Oh, THIS SONG IS ONE OF MY FAVORITES AND SO ARE YOU, Chris! ☘️ WISHING YOU ALL GOOD THINGS! ☘️

one of the greatest singers of the 80s...
40 years later “ Sailing “ still sounds fresh....a classic ! Thank you Chris for keep singing a forever beautiful song !
I remember when "sailing" came out in the 1980s I was in high school. I knew when I heard this song the first time it would have a great impact on my life. Today Im 60 yrs old and Im still a huge fan. Please carry on Chris. I know there are many more lives to be touched the same way Iam by your music. Thanks!!!
I'm sure at the time CC was the youngest recipient of a music Grammy.
Beautiful songwriter.
An angel of the Lord touched this man so he could write this song. Sounds like heaven. Sounds like Jesus! God Bless you Mr. Cross for one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
Praise God
How do you know what Jesus sounds like to compare?
Well his name is CROSS OMG
@@scotttrent4721 and CHRISTopher!
@@cesargiron4123 HE IS RISEN!!!!!
This song means so much to me, I played it through my wife's cancer treatments, and I play it often on long training runs now. It truly does take me somewhere else! Thank you Chris
It’s the same for me. It was the Song of me and my girlfriend dead suddenly when she was 18 ❤️
@@SuperGoody65 .. This song is and always will be a part of the soundtrack to the memories of great loss I endured in 1980. I now know that I am not alone when I hear the intro to this song, and I feel that enormous hole within my heart radiate throughout my body with each note.. ❤

Mountain Chief I have been in Montana, in vacation in 2003 and also to yellowstone !
I'm a song maker but every time I hear this song as well as a few others, they make me want to give up because this song is a creation of a genius! I want to go wherever Chris Cross went in his mind to create this and I'd love to meet him!
Songs made by real and touching experiences have this outcome: touch our soul and transport us to another places.
I can feel the wind in my face with this song, and I`m inside my room while I`m doing it.
What a wonderful and immortal song. Thank you Mr Cross for sharing this treasure.
This songs makes me feel like I am on a boat just sailing with my loved one xx

Love love the sound of his voice, it makes my panic attacks go away automatically !!! Beautiful voice !!!!
His voice. There are no words.
+Joanna R theres a joke in there somewhere
Yowl Crazy Go ahead and tell it then lol
+Joanna R It's Fantastic !!!!1
+Joanna R What about "fragile", "atmospheric", "melancholic"... ?
Benoit Vanhees I wouldn't say fragile, because that would indicate his voice is weak and it's not. But the other words fit.
timeless masterpiece! been singing this for years! .......many thanks C Cross!

I was born in the year, 1996, but this song is clearly on my top list as my most fave songs..... why would people DISLIKE this vid.... Christopher Cross doesnt need any auto tune so why the dislike button ?
If that girl in the photo is you . Then your so beautiful :) ;)
MissSleazy They're probably just comparing it to the record a little too much.
This live version is good, but I like the studio-recorded version a whole lot more, myself...there's just a lot more time, and care put into it.
On this version, there is some bad notes, and whatnot, to be honest.
I agree! I think Chris has a beautiful voice! Chris and Garth Brooks have the best live singing voice out of any concerts iv been too
MissSleazy They are cock suckers that only like trash rap shit
MissSleazy 80's is the best songs ever.
one of the best songs of 20th century, i cried
nohohonzoku Yes. I️ thought it was just me. I actually get teary eyed every time I️ hear this song. That how powerful it is.
Cried too...
Keep him in your thoughts… He’s had a really rough time with COVID-19, just recently out of a wheelchair and re-learning how to walk. He’s a really good guy above and beyond the whole music career
Wow praying for his recovery 💪🏻🙏🏻
Any update?

41 years old and a personal favorite, remember listen to it in my dads car one rainy afternoon, i was like 5 or 6 years old but the calm and the voice of this song touch a very personal note inside me, until this days.
Michael Bailey well said! I can't listen to the radio anymore either. Good songs stand the test of time!

Once in a while the music world releases a song, new musician that just rocks our world. CC did that in 1980 with this song, and INCREDIBLE album. Great memories when music was simple and BEAUTIFUL 🤗
Gives me chills, hearing this beautiful music from my yesteryears. 💓
This was beautifully constructed music unlike the trash that is so-called "music" today. "Screamers" are today's "vocalists."
1979 was a good year for Chris. And this song was a real beauty! This was truly music, an incredible classic song of gentle breezes, blue skies, loved one's, placid waters and innocence. A better day indeed.

One of the best Christopher Cross Acoustic songs ever!!
Just an amazing talent and beautiful song. Was lucky enough to see him live in 1980. Sung one amazing set before Fleetwood Mac in Buffalo.
Then went on to win 5 Grammy awards.

Nobody sings like this guy sing on Christopher your the only one who can COVER your own songs love everything you do keep singing I'm gonna listen you couldn't even mess a song up if you even tried your more than you even know
The melody, rhythm, and lyrics ALL take me sailing. Perfect!!
Well, it's not far down to paradise, at least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see
Believe me
It's not far to never-never land, no reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy of innocence again
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see
Believe me
Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
Fantasy, it gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie, every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me?
Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
Well it's not far back to sanity, at least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find serenity
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see
Believe me
Sailing takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
This song has always touched and soothed my soul
One of my all time favorites, and makes me want to be sailing!
George Bennett takes you back to a time long long ago ahh the memories..
happiest girl in the whole wide world
adore this tune. not just as a sailor myself but it has so much emotion
One of my favorite songwriters. Truly talented musician, artist, writer, lyricist, composer and arranger.
I believe that Cristopher Cross marked in many of us, lovers of the sea and navigation an iconic theme with this song, it reminds me of my visits to the beach with my friends and especially how we met to listen to his songs watching the sunset.
Thanks Christ, I still listen to you in my 60's.
He was so blessed with an amazing voice. This is just too good
Why can't today's music be like this? Today's music sucks!
Today only serves to sell, so it is not music, that's the problem.
Actually ,there's no more room today but for artists to suck ....music 's gone with the wind.
It's out there. Just not the popular anymore . Pop Culture got taken by the corporates .
Have you heard niki manji's anaconda? its new but somehow remains beautiful with that classic sound
+Justin Jones Get a guitar, and some friends with instruments, start playing, learn a few of this guys songs, even if just the basic chord structures, learn chords and scales and then start making your own songs. Seriously, that's how it begins.
This is what you call real music, Christopher cross was an is still tha business...
Darling you still got it ♥️
this is my wake up 'alarm' song for years on my phone...I can tell you it's a relaxing way of waking up instead of the noisy fire alarm-like sounds....
I love this man his songs are so beautiful.

Such a beautiful song. Mr. Cross is still an attractive man; I've found him that way for decades. Looking at him, I can't believe he's in his 60s! And his musical talent just makes him more attractive.
Mr cross has so much musical talent 🎼 🎶 🎵 🙌 ✝️ 👏 👌 😎
Wonderful! Always great, as usual! Bless you, all yours and everyone else out there and everywhere! Thank you for singing with your heart and soul to all of us worldwide. And yes, you can fly and sail distant places, no matter the passing of time! Thank you very, very much.
The arrangement of this song is so beautiful.
It would be awesome to play "Sailing" while sailing. That would be something truely wonderful especially at sunset.

This song takes me and reminds me of a not so nice days….but I now can enjoy this as an adult
To sound this studio-like live and not using any major board effects but a small room reverb is pretty amazing. Chris's live vocal tone and warmth is simply amazing. It's almost like, well...Sailing.
I've loved this song since I was five years old, and it never gets old. I still get tears in my eyes, it's just the most beautiful song I've ever heard. It speaks to the heart...

Ultimate thinking song
Thanks, Christopher and thanks to KUTX Austin for uploading.
Love this song, always have since I heard it as a child. It does take me away. I also have to say that I found out I work with Christoper's sister, who is an awesome doctor! Keep rock'n Chris, we love your music!
He still has it!
Just saw him in Tahoe, definitely the youngest person there, lol. I loved every second of his show, thank you, Chris... I wasn't sure I'd ever get the chance to see you play, and you came through in the most amazing way.
I like the way his band digs into it.
Wonderful!!!!
Beautiful and melodic
Christopher Cross songs remind me of early childhood trips to Yankee Stadium with my pop in the early 80's.
Mesmerizing voice!!!
Now I don't have a very trained ear acquired from extensive exposal to commercial professional music experience fortified with seriously formal degreed music education and a bit of native talent, but he basically sounds the same to me from when he first started out on over twenty years ago. Still nice and mellow....and enchantingly evocative.
I was in the Navy and stationed in N.A.S. Pensacola, when this song came out. Rumor has it that it inspired hundreds, maybe thousands of men and women to join the Navy. Anyway, after this song came out, there was a dramatic increase in new recruits into the Navy.
Brings a tear to my eye ......reminds me of my late father and our times sailing on his sailboat as a kid ......great song
Such a gem this song!
Yes, a masterpiece indeed!
Thomas Vasiloff no doubt
Such a sensitive song....everything about it pulls at the heart strings. Thank you Mr. Cross. 🎶🎵⛵🎶🎵✌😎

Janet Weren't we lucky? We were.
My favorite song of all songs! I will say, the five string bass is a bit powerful for this tune, in my opinion. So I now wonder what an upright bass would do to this piece. I think I would love to hear an acoustic version of this song.
I hope you recover completly Mr.C.Cross, this track and you are endless.
Just amazing!
A melodia é linda , a voz é linda, a letra é linda, bons tempos de músicas de verdade com instrumentos maravilhosos vou amar eternamente ❤️ Cristhoper Cross sempre será meu cantor favorito essa música tem o dom de me acalmar...
