- The plaintiff bought a china cabinet from the defendant’s store, but when it was delivered, the plaintiff says the defendant’s moving guys broke the glass and the door. The defendant promised to fix it, but the plaintiff says she’s tired of waiting, so she’s suing for the damages. The defendant claims he reordered replacement parts, but the plaintiff refuses to respond to his calls to schedule the installation.
Case #28063

Pick up the phone! He shouldn't be obligated to psycho call the customer.. geez. He left several messages.
Give me a break! He called her multiple times, left messages most of those times and he’s getting reamed for assuming she would see her caller ID and call him back? If she was as desperate as she said she was to talk to him why wouldn’t caller ID spark her response? It sure would me. As would the 3 minute message he left.
She didn't have to snap on him.. You got call logs in front of you that proves he called... That plaintiff is crazy
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
a business NEEDS to leave a voicemail every time. its not my job to chase a business.
@@osomartinez all I’m saying is that if she was as desperate to get this resolved as she says she wouldn’t have ignored seeing his number on the caller ID. Plus, he had call logs showing he left messages. She’s out of gas.
@@osomartinez I don't think it's chasing after multiple calls a person knows whose calling and he didn't say he never left voice mails he said he didn't leave them all the time.
@@osomartinez clownery, either way you have to call them back.
Nah this lady is crazy, if she is being honest and saying she's called him a million times then she would recognize the number when he's calling her. Also the judge blowing up on the guy when he said he left a voicemail every other call is ridiculous, he didn't say "oh i have never left a voicemail ever" like if he's got 5 god damn pages of phone records and he left a message every 2nd call that means this lady got dozens of messages that SHE never responded to.
maybe she doesn't know how to use her phone?😳
Totally
The judge blowing up on this guy is totally wrong! Instead of commending him, for being honest that he didn’t leave a voicemail on every single call (a one minute call is more than enough time to leave a message.) she blasts him for not leaving a message every single time… This lady is nuts!
No she's not. She was more than patient, and the vendor admitted that she's a great person. That shows that she wasn't the typical pain-in-the-butt customer. They knew where she lived, why not go to her house with the glass?
Marilyn castigating the defendant was ridiculous. If I call someone and leave a message and they don't call me back, I don't leave a message the next time I call as well. I figure, well, I've already left a message so when they check their messages they're not going to want to get multiple messages from me. Leaving a message every other time or every third time is perfectly adequate.
The message was left on one of the last few calls he made. Should have left a message from the very beginning. I’ve had dentist offices leave me 2-3 voicemails just to confirm an apmt. It’s not that hard.
He lied.
Agreed completely!
He had call logs and an invoice that he had the glass ready. She didn’t have call logs to show she called and didn’t have an estimate to show how much it would cost to have someone else do it.
He should have won this case.
I almost always agree with JM, but she got annoyed with him and ruled according to that not the evidence on this one.
This was a very rare yet major L ON JUDGE MARILYN
Her not answering the phone or calling back the number because she doesn't know number sounds more like she is avoiding bill collectors.
because how many missed calls could she of had, agree, with u,
He didn't need to get grilled like that, especially with him trying to do the right thing. Yes, it would be mindful and smart to leave a voicemail everytime but it's not on them when the other person doesn't check their phone.
If you don't know how to check it, ask someone. Especially when awaiting a certain phonecall.
Yes he did. He was horribly disrespectful and dismissive in his tone, and the way he spoke to the judge.
Literally he’s been calling ever since October, how can that be looked over? It’s not like he’s not leaving a message between missed calls since then, there’s 5 pages worth!
At the end, she said she called the establishment and the father had no recollection that the glass was there. Definitely a miscommunication on the business end.
The defendant looked so smug and arrogant.
@@LawsonPatterson Yes I agree. His attitude was shitty.
LMAO, suing for lost wages but she doesn't know how to use a phone, this case was so aggravating! Karma will come after this money hungry woman!
Bad decision, he called every week she didn't have to show proof she called. He did everything he could to fix the situation. Bad judgement and bias
That leave a message thing felt personal to JM lol. As a business he should always leave a message though. You can’t assume people are on cell phones (which will display the number/missed call) vs a landline.
A piece of gas installation took 5 months plus because folks couldn't communicate. Seems like people communicate less despite all this new technology.
Nah, the defendant shouldn't have to pay a single penny! He left messages and everything. The defendant is crazy.
The judge sometimes shows favoritism right from the start
Yes because she is already aware of the case
@@asmaaqc3908 yes thy all read the case before,
I’m 83 and do scroll through missed calls. Not all “old” people are totally tech illiterate.
I object. You aren’t tech illiterate if you don’t scroll through unknown phone numbers and call them all back. Most are scammers and calling unknown phone numbers is foolish.
@pmabrouk why is calling unknown numbers foolish? What can possibly happen?
I'm 60 and I get irritated when people leave messages. I see the caller ID and will call them back. Of course, I'm not hiding from bill collectors either.
She’s so unnecessarily rude sometimes…..
You don’t HAVE to leave a message. You see a missed call and you can see whose called you. If you don’t check your missed calls then who’s fault is that….
whose* fault
@@jennross6466 thanks
If it was such a big deal she'd have been on that phone with a quickness. Please. 🙄
This has to be the first case I disagree with Judge Milian. 🤦🏻♀️ The defendant shouldn’t have had to pay her , he called and did his part of the deal, she should’ve did hers.
He could have gone to the house with the glass. The guy is too immature to be in business.
@@Irod567 no you don’t just show up at someone’s house ?
He called & called. If a number keeps calling, generally people are curious to know who it is and answers. He did leave a VM & she didn’t call back. She was negligent, not him.
I assure you, this guy is perfectly happy to pay 150.00 dollars not to have to deal with this anymore.
I don’t agree with this one man. The lady didn’t answer her phone . He left atleast ONE voicemail. Isn’t that enough? If the lady is SO ANXIOUSLY waiting on it? She’d have jumped on that one. She doesn’t answer her phone . Point blank. This isn’t the business owners fault & “being old” isn’t an excuse 🙄
Yup! If it's not important enough to leave a message, it's not important enough for me to call back.
That would make sense but he left a message and she still brought him to court. I think she just wanted the missed day of work. Which.. that would piss me off too actually.
that was weird.....i go through ALL my voicemails to make sure no one has phoned me to whom i need to respond. Judge Milian doesn't?? how does she not miss calls from friends? Scrolling through missed calls is easy....it takes virtually no time at all.
If this woman called as many times as she did there would be no way she wouldn’t recognize the number. The number may even have the company name on it. What does age have anything to do with it? I’m 52 and that’s ridiculous. My mom texts. That woman couldn’t pick up her phone, open it and NOT see that he called in the missed call log. Come on…
LOL Exactly My mom is 74 and knows what a missed call is and knows how to return it. Unless he was calling from another phone or she was calling the wrong number. At the end of the day he left a message and she wanted to sue for the 1st missed delivery . In my opinion lol
Dude is coming off like he has such an -- ATTITUDE I COULDN'T DO BUSINESS WITH HIM 😡💯
the defendant is 23 .... I thought he was 40 😐
@@Maya.6868 that's what i was going to say!
@@Maya.6868 fr I thought no way he's 23
So it's his job to make her answer her phone? How's it his fault she's ignoring him? I just don't understand
JM not everyone has to live life your way. It’s the people’s court
Seriously, how many times does a business have to call, he provided call log that he left a message. She is wack. $150. Was ridiculous judgement
Wow Marilyn, chill out!!! That was totally unnecessary for her to yell at the defendant, and tell him that he HAS to leave a message every single time he calls. He has left several messages. It’s the plaintiffs fault, 100% that her China cabinet has not been fixed yet. I also feel that Marilyn’s ruling was wrong. If the plaintiff won’t allow the defendant to install the glass, then it’s on the plaintiff to pay out of pocket for the installation. Fortunately for the defendant, he doesn’t actually have to pay that $150. I really hope that the plaintiff can’t find anyone to install it for that price. It would be hilarious if every company charged a minimum of $500 to install it. I say that only because she is the difficult one in this whole case.
I never return a 'missed call' and most young people when they leave a message (if at all) don't say what their number is, like I'm supposed to go through my missed call log and compare what time the message was left to what time there was a missed call to find out their number. Very frustrating...
Are that many people really leaving voicemails come on it's not that hard it's the only unsaved number in the call log
Do you have so many missed calls that process of elimination isn’t an option? I haven’t heard anyone complain about this in years
@@alyssahamlett I’m 52 and I completely agree.
@@jenelizabeth7822 totally
Your obsession with commenting and complaining on every people’s court case is so weird. It’s only been up 2 hrs…
That was an unnecessary rant by the judge. If he called multiple times and left multiple messages then you would look and recognize the number. You don’t need to leave a message every single time if you’ve called over 10 times lol. That’s a waste of time. They see your number. It hasn’t changed.
JM was absolutely ridiculous. Why would he leave a message every single time he calls? She needs to get a grip. He shouldn't have to pay her a penny!!!
I leave a voicemail the first time but if I call them repeatedly I won't leave another because I am afraid I would fill their answering machine with my messages.....His arrogant way sucks.....I wouldn't deal with him either.....
I don’t agree . She was in the wrong , she should have to pay for her own installation bc she the ones playing games.
he’s fine
Does not have the time to scroll through missed calls but has the time to enter in the program for a phone message
Unfair judgment because he called many times, he proved it.
That plaintiff is so full of it. She just thought she could use the broken glass as an excuse to sue & get her china cabinet for free. That's why she never answered his calls. She was trying to build a case by letting time pass so that it appeared as though he wasn't willing to fix it. She didn't bargain on him having phone log records. I think the judge ruled incorrectly in this case. The plaintiff never allowed the defendant to come over & fix it. And why didn't the judge ask for her call logs? She claims that she called him a bunch of times. And then says that she doesn't want to deal with the defendant anymore...please. He was nothing but nice. She just wants whatever cash she can get & will probably have her "neighbor" put it in for free. JM should have just given her the glass & called it even. This was a ridiculous lawsuit. $280 for a simple glass install & $220 for "lost wages"...🙄
I’m sorry but this defendant did everything to get in contact with her but I’m wondering why he didn’t answer her calls? Unless she’s lying because JM didn’t make her show call logs like she made the defendant do…..
Meh...I don't think she called again after the furniture was delivered & the glass was broken. I think she thought the defendant would be so sorry that the glass got broken that he would return the money for the cabinet. When he offered to only replace the glass...she deliberately ignored him to build a case. $280 for a simple glass install & $220 for "lost wages"....🙄
Nope. He did his due diligence and the customer is in the wrong here.
He never left a message. And I doubt he was calling from the number she called him at. That’s why she never returned the call.
Holy hell the defendant is so hot. He's like a model 😮
Obvious she couldn’t afford the piece in the first place…that’s why she’s suing for the full amount plus time off work…
Another re-upload why are they re-up loading all the same episodes that are already uploaded
If I'm waiting on a business to call about something I paid for, I'm calling back. The number is logged in my phone, under the business name, until our business is complete. Message or no message. Yes, it's professional to always leave one. But I'm not going to avoid the company just because they didn't leave a message.
Why did she go on that rant about missed calls? He said he left messages! Just not every single time.
He looks a lot older than 23
I agree.
That’s BS. I never leave a message because I know everybody has caller ID. In fact I don’t want people to leave a message either because I could see what missed calls I have doesn’t make any sense to leave messages anymore. Waste of time.
The defendant is very snark and I can tell that’s why JM did not like him very much .
Yea idk where Milian went with all this he was good with what he did she pandered to plaintiff
Why is it his fault that the plaintiff doesn't know how to use her phone?
Dude, we're older and command you communicate clearly!
So glad I'm not the only one who's floored by JM's shitty ruling. WOW
That whole "leave a message" nonsense.. It's just that.. nonsense.
No
I usallly caller id call back first before checking messages. Specifically now a days where caller id from phone will usually display a name for business at very least when you dont have them in your contacts. In fact I get annoyed by messages.
I don’t check voicemails at all since most are ghosts where it’s nothing, not even a missed call but I got the message to waste my time, the odd time it isn’t it’s usually a scam call or outright wrong number.
Checking missed calls is easy. Idk why she’s such a birch about it. Plaintiff probably can’t check missed calls OR messages on her phone. So how is it his fault he can’t get ahold of her? Is he supposed to call her every 3 minutes?
Finally no more zoom calls!!! Yay
I don’t agree with the he has to leave a message every time. She knows she was waiting on a call from him how many messages should he have to leave?
Lol!! The judge has never heard of “caller I.d.”, does she know what year it is? She’s really showing her age by suggesting the Plaintiff is too old to understand today’s technology & then throws her “ancient” self in there too!! Geeze! Caller I.D. has literally been around for decades! She acts like this is something new that is crazy-hard to comprehend?? Lol!! Wow!! (MAYBE TIME FOR JM TO RETIRE??) 😂
So she’s “yelling” again - why does she feel like she has to yell at everyone for every comment or question, but she’s yelling again!! So it’s the “Defendant’s” fault the Plaintiff doesn’t know how to check her caller I.d. and/or voicemail?? Incredible? (Maybe this is why her show got yanked?? Lol). She lives in Miami with a billion senior citizens so maybe she just has a soft spot for them??
The judge is annoying at times he called period she didn't answer she's wrong not him.
getting the inpression that the plaintiff doesn't know how to use her (cell?) phone? Also trying to figure out what was that picture piece of evidence she gave the Judge with her hand in it? she coudn't even explain WHAT? part of the cabinet glass she was r=trying to show?!😳
Careful letter 76
I don't believe the call records I wish you would ask for the lady's phone to look, Keep playing those all of the scams

He had the glass there since it happened, he has calls records, and the Plantiff wants to day he’s not trust worthy.. I would not want t go back to her house either... She can install that glass for underc$100.00 for the cement glue and was rewarded $150.00 she send $$ and that’s exactly what she got... Not a person I trust at all some people is it’s just about money instead of humanity’s we’re has it went ??
This judge acts dumb sometimes and speaks in a demeaning way to the litigants. I'm so glad she's off the air now.
Judge Millian was a little out of line with how she spoke to the defendant. It's not like he didn't call multiple times, and although it is a good business practice to have left at least 3 vm's, he had the proof to back his story. She kind of made it seem as if his age and/or his generation was the reason he didn't leave multiple voicemails. She just should have gotten her point across without treating him like a criminal. Besides she's had litigants litigants
She did not listen as always always, he said he called
Like me, then second call I leave a message. Overall, she got her glass. and money. But judge, listen, stop thinking you know it all.because your a judge. I LOVE YOU BUT lordy.
Strong part 52
The judge got this one right. The lady took off of work 2 days in a row waiting for a promised delivery. Called the store multiple times with no callback. She had to physically go to the store in order to get a response. By many in the comments section logic, they ignored her calls and that’s bad business.

Judge wrong asf on this one..
Talking over the judge that is so disrespectful and that is something that they have in their culture they don't respect women that's why he's doing that because he thinks he's better than the judge because he's a man

It's an old name like Pearl and Edna

Horrible judge. Racism of low expectations.
It's funny jumping between People's Court and Judge Judy.. Jusge Judy would've shut her down a long time ago.. A lot of unnecessary talking
Judge Judy usually shuts people down way too quickly because she’s so arrogant and thinks she knows everything. And why compare the two different shows? They are different for a reason. Different judge, different styles and beliefs, different fanbase. If you like to watch two different talk shows do you compare them to each other and try to make one of them more like the other? No, that would be boring, no variety.
@@synnove1046 Maybe they just like to compare things and point them out. Doesn't mean they want them to be the same.
Judges be on power trips. Since he showed records of the number of calls the Plaintiff should have checked her messages knowing she was expecting a response from them. Since she didn't check her messages it's partially her fault so she shouldn't have been awarded $150.
