THREE-Hole Platter: have seen those used to serve oysters, shrimp and fish on a thin bed of ice. The holes allow the ice to melt below the food so it doesn't get soggy....LOVE the hat! - it's a tornado of exploding mosquito netting!

PussyGalore oysters 🦪 are classically served on oyster plates.
      Unless served Bistro style.
I’m sure you could put a thin layer of ice then place fish or shrimp- but when the dish was made- the ice would still have gone under the insert. Think Victorian dinner services....

@@anntaylor1811 That sounds right.. large meat platters had matching drainers but the holes were small, allowing the meat juices to drain through to the plate. The plate would not be deep enough to hold melted ice...

It’s for “Asperges”! Asparagus need to be drain after being poached and to keep them out of the excess water they have that kind of dish! I LOVE this Emmaus trip. My next travel to France I will go over there and get a container full of stuff to redecorate my home in Chile 😂 low key I’m actually contemplating it. Not many people can understand our love, and dare I say, obsession with setting a beautiful table and using our china.
When my mother was a child during the depression in the deep south, (Louisiana) she would babysit for pennies, then walk into town, ( shoeless!) She would then put her change towards the family china pattern for her mother. There were times when those plates were empty but there was beauty and hope. Aesthetics are so important to the quality of our lives.

My mother’s story was similar. She came from extreme poverty. Once she started moving upward she collected old china plate by plate and quilts. I thought of her as I watched this vlog. She collected enough sets to leave a unique set to each of her granddaughters.

What I love about shopping trips like these: 1- We get to browse charity shops in France! 2- The hunt for a bargain is intoxicating. 3- Bonding with those you love, be it family, friends, guests, etc. is heartwarming. 4- Running home to display your treasures and feather your nest is essential. 5- Basking in the beauty you created completes the shopping experience. And it shows us how we can beautify our own homes without breaking the bank! Just perfect!

Well I feel I was with you both at the brocante. I too love to dress my table with china from charity shops and have some beautiful table cloths and napkin. Last year I was so lucky to find to tall candle sticks with 5 branches on each for the candles, they really looked the part at Christmas with navy blue candles. The table cloth again from the charity shop was a gold brocade and the runner was a deeper gold with a beaded tassel either end. Its amazing what you can find for so little, and I agree with you Stephanie that you find what you want and the money goes to a cause which is a win win situation for everyone. Not to mention that its recycling at its best. 95% of what I own comes from charity shops: from homeware to clothes and everything in between. Its amazing what you can find and what people get rid of. And I adore the hat I would have bought it too.....too fabulous to pass up! Lol!! We too dress up for special occasions, seasonal parties. Shannon Tymlw, so sorry, would LOVE to have french cheese!! But so difficult for farmers to make a living without a off farm good living. Have some farmers around the state that do some artisan cheeses. I loved the cheeses in Strasbourg! I worked off the farm but not full time. My husband and son worked like dogs on the farm with registed holsteins, (loved them) the guys health took a toll. Would never trade the experience. Kids in 4-H, FFA and Dairy Bowl. 1 son, 2 daughters. Priceless experience

I laughed when you spotted the hat and then you bought it was very surprising how big it is you look absolutely amazing in it and it screams party and now to see what you pair it with. The picture was perfect in the room and the other touches perfect,I would want to stay in that room. The plates are the best I was yelling for you to get them and you did. Please take Marie to see the dress the next time I think our flower girl would look great.

Bonjour ! I am so glad that I saw your vlog before going to bed. Such nice finds you got. Love, love the autumn setting table with those gorgeous plates. What is truly funny is that this morning, after breakfast, I went to a brocante and I found a few really good pieces of dishes as well. I came out of there totally happy .... but I - sadly - did not find a fantastic hat as you did. Until the next vlog, take good care and stay safe !

Dear Stephanie, The pattern of the plates by Sarreguemines is the famous onion-pattern by Meissen. In original it is underglazed cobalt blue. Why they named it "Windsor" - it´s a riddle. Greetings from Nischwitz Castle, Germany!

@@LibertinaUno Battenb e rg changed to Mountbatten and Sachsen Coburg-Gotha to Windsor because WWI. But these German countries are situated in Thuringia, not in Saxony. Meissen is near by Dresden, the former "Churfürstentum Sachsen". The onion-pattern by Meissen is one of the earliest they created, ca.1725. It is influenced by old Chinese patterns. The "onions" that are pommes de granat. But the Germans in this time didn´t know because it was a very luxerious and exotic fruit. You can order this pattern still today. It´s always handpainted and very succesfull.
