Thank you for the awesome tip! I used this technique today in the Chicago cold where it's in the single digits and after several breathes, the key turned and I was able to get inside! I used a nerf dart instead of a tube. Just pulled the suction tip off and worked great!

You have to be careful doing that nowadays, because most keys are key fobs that have electronics in the key handle. The heat from a lighter could melt the electronics inside the key handle, and then you really can't get in your door. If you have a regular key without a fob, maybe, but I've used the trick of blowing warm air inside the lock cylinder. It does work.

I used the Q-tip stem and a regular plastic straw and it worked after about 10 to 20 seconds of breathing into the lock. Thanks!
