@@sidhant8659 He will find a girlfriend. I feel that his acceptance of Robin as a friend meant a lot more for both characters than any romantic longing. The life or death situations are what created the sense of romance (in my opinion at least). They have great chemistry, but the show never presented it in a way that suggested romance to me.

There was still someone there, they just had the same look to them so they didn't appear differently to the customers that didn't pay attention. The role of Dustin was designed for Gaten... or is Gaten just a perfect Dustin.
AintItJay187 actually Dustin was originally going to have a much smaller role in season 1, but the Duffers loved Gaten so much that they gave him more. And he was even the first kid cast as well.
The role of Dustin was designed for Gaten. 100%. right down to Dustin having the same health quirks as Gaten. The same thing happened with Joe Keery and Steve too. Steve was supposed to be a much smaller, much less likable role as well, but they just liked Joe so much, they rewrote Steve
I mean, Steve was just horrible in season 1 to be honest. Which is ironic: Like, season 1 set up this whole love triangle between Steve, Jonathan and Nancy, with Jonathan being the obvious choice (he comes off a bit creepy, but compared to season 1 Steve who's just a complete d**k, he was the obvious best choice). But now we're ending season 3 and they made Steve one of the most likeable character, and if there were to re-introduce that same love triangle things would seem much different! (That being said I saw a few people shipping Nancy with Robin now (yes despite the fact they barely have any interactions)! So maybe we can have a NEW love triangle there! LOL)
