I actually have a theory… please forgive me it’s a bit long and has spoilers…
I think that Will actually has the same powers as 011 (or at least some of them). Going back, it makes a lot of sense.
So we pretty much know now that Will’s disappearance was Henry/Vecna/001. This was all but literally confirmed by Eleven, Henry, and Will. Eleven said to Henry “It has always been you” and Will said something to the effect of “it’s weird to know who it was this whole time.”
Furthermore, Henry’s powers developed naturally, without Brenner’s experiments. It’s conceivable to think that this could happen again. With Brenner so focused on reproducing Henry, a naturally occurring kid with powers might have passed him by. Especially considering it seems Henry’s powers started to develop around the age when Will disappeared. It’s possible that Will’s powers didn’t emerge because of all the trauma he went through.
Henry also says to Eleven that he “sought her power” because he couldn’t open gates himself and needed the ability to do that. Maybe this only explains why Henry/Mindflayer/Billy went after Eleven so strongly in S3, but I think it explains a bit more. Maybe it explains the original disappearance of Will and the Mindflayer’s connection with Will in S2.
Going back and watching how Will disappeared all the way back in S1, it’s pretty clear now that it wasn’t the Demogorgon. The Demogorgon was attracted first of all by blood, which as far as I saw, was notably absent when Will disappeared. The fact that Will also just disappeared and wasn’t immediately killed by the Demogorgon is suspect for me. Maybe he wasn’t supposed to be killed because he was part of Henry’s plan. Maybe he also just got lucky, but maybe it was part of a bigger plan. The mindflayer also noticeably sought Will out in S2. Maybe that’s just because there was already a connection. Maybe it’s because Henry needed Will because he knew that Will could open gates. Further, it is obvious that Will still has a knowledge of the UD. In S2 he could see occasionally into the UD and in later seasons he still shared a lesser sense of knowing about Henry/mindflayer. Maybe that’s just because of the connection he had with them, but maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s because he has some sort of powers.
More on the “Will can open gates” theory. In S1 when Will is in the UD, he winds up around a few “almost gates”. For example, we see what I believe to be him reaching through the wall when Holly is in his room when Karen brings Joyce a casserole. It at first seemed like it was just the Demogorgon but on watching again, I think it’s actually Will trying to break through. He also later is able to talk to his mother through a wall which has turned into a bit of a gate. It’s conceivable that his powers may be manifesting themselves here because he is scared and in trouble but he doesn’t realize that he is the one doing it. This kinda got written off as “the Demogorgon can open gates” but maybe that wasn’t the Demogorgon at all.
Finally, there is some evidence you could see as foreshadowing. Like for example the fact that Will is always drawing his DND character, Will the Wise, who is in fact, a wizard. It would be genius if the writers had been dangling that in our faces since the beginning. It would also be absolutely awesome to bring it back full circle, that it was all about Will to a certain extent all along. It wasn’t just a coincidence but a plan.
This is a crunchy theory and I'm annoyed it doesn't have more likes.

I’ve seen some people online saying that he should turn to the dark side because of his trauma and I’ve gotta say, that would be a bit of a slap in the face… not to mention cliché. I think it would be a far more interesting dynamic to have Will, who has arguably felt powerless the last few seasons, become one of their main hopes for survival. It would be interesting to see him choose to do the right thing, despite everything traumatic that has happened to him; to see him save people who had treated him badly.
I really don’t want another “oh, this person is actually bad because ‘trauma ™️’”.

it’s crazy because there WAS a type of time travel when Nancy, Robbin, Steve, and Eddie went to the upside down. They were in the past.

which means they can probably return to a point in the timeline before anyone died, but that would potentially at the expense of everyone's character development (which would not be very satisfying)

Will 1000% has some kind of involvement. Idk what the involvement may be but there's got to be something relating it to him. Eleven recognised him in a photo in s1 before even meeting him- because he was missing!

4:52 love that they used the wrong William here. I always forget that Billy’s name is “William Hargrove”, and Joe calling him William definitely threw off the editors, so the whole “runs in the family” joke kinda threw me off.
Call me crazy, I think the older crew in the show are way better characters and way more interesting. Steve, Robin, Jonathan, and Nancy are all great. Eddie and Argyle were GREAT additions in S4 and obviously Hopper and Joyce are awesome too.

Props to Joe Keery. I feel Steve´s probably been the only character to remain consistently engaging throughout the show´s four seasons. Not only this, but seemingly getting better with each one. For me at least.

His character also had an arc and changed the most. Him and Winona Ryder are probably the most consistent actors who are always believable on screen, where I never think I'm watching someone acting. With everyone else I have moments where I'm not really buying it, I'm just seeing someone act.

Alexei dying was heartbreaking, but also kind of creative because all major characters that died were starting with the letter B, so a different letter with another character dying would be confusing yet makes it more tragic.
It's only confusing if you recognized that characters that dies up to that point had names starting with B. But very very few people probably did.

I personally think about 3 people who will die on season 5, Max, Mike and Will,
Here's my whole theory:
For Max's death:
Max was supposed to die with Vecna's curse, but she didn't, so he'll probably just want to end her because he failed at killing her twice
For Mike's death:
Remembering what Nancy said, she saw his dead body with the rest of her family dead bodies, so he's probably going to die, either because of Vecna or either because of something else
For Will's death:
For me Will is just one of Vecna's many pawns. First of all at the end of season 4, Will had a nosebleed, it could be Noah who had a real nosebleed at that time and they wanted to keep it, or it could only mean that he has a little connection with Vecna. Secondly, the fact that he has a trauma before, the weird nosebleed and the nightmares could probably mean that he could be one of Vecna's victim. Thirdly, he had a connection with the Mind Flayer, that thing who kinda was one of Vecna's most powerful pawn, and knowing that Will has a connection with him means that he will probably kill him to finish his job or he'll probably use him for to achieve his goal

Me too but he had so many close calls, and he is so fearless that I can't picture him surviving the whole show. I think he will be one of the few who will make an ultimate sacrifice at the end of this or last season. 😢

I have a feeling Steve or Nancy will die this season. The bat bites Steve received weren't there for no reason. Everything in the upside down has always had some sort of underlying effect on whoever it happened to. An example could be the hill scene in s2 and 3 when Will is constantly seen rubbing the back of his neck, in the theatre, on the hill, etc. As for Nancy, she's under Vecna/001's curse, who knows if Eddie (given the trailer snippet with the guitar, in the upside down) can save her.
For real though.. this show is always yelling at the characters and the audience like “what did you THINK would happen?!”
That makes so much sense, I knew they didn't show that scene in trailer for nothing. For Steve though, I think that it's kinda inevitable that he may die, he's an iconic character and I think they'll gonna kill off a major character.
I think Steve is going to mutate at the bat bite sites, with a PAIR of new body parts. Why else would they have two bilaterally symmetrical wounds? So arms or eyes or ears or something else that comes in pairs. He'll whip of the wrap and they'll be there. Also the placement will make it super easy to hide, so they'll be easy to ignore.

Did anyone ever notice that the stranger things deaths have a pattern? There is always that new/newer character that gets introduced that season and then dies. And then there is always the fake death scare where a major character makes a promise with another major character, "dies" and then has a whole backstory on how they didn't die in the next season.

@@iswiftyfox8997 i think it would be kinda lame if they killed hopper off, last season they already hinted at him dying by literally making it look like he did. and then he ends up still being alive, it would just feel repetitive if they did it again but actually killing him off this time. i think it makes more sense for them to kill off steve or jonathan.

Their faces when they mentioned the theory about Eddie dying 😭 No but Joseph looked so sad, I just wanted to hug him 🥺 Eddie was my favorite character and he’s one of the best. That whole scene literally made me cry, and that’s saying something because I *NEVER* cry during movies or tv shows. Eddie helped me in my personal life in ways I can’t even explain. I hope in the next season he doesn’t just get swept underneath the rug as if nothing happened, because I’ve seen many shows where they kill off a supporting character and then in the next season they act like nothing happened at all. Considering that Dustin was a very close friend of Eddie’s and then Eddie dies in his arms, they better not have him just brush it off. Maybe they can do something like how Max was effected by Billy’s death (without the Vecna part though).
I just don’t want Eddie to be forgotten 🥺💔

I think so too. Mostly because at this point it just makes sense - it would be unrealistic for all of them to survive (and whilst there is fiction like that out there, ST tends to be more gritty than that), especially considering more minor characters have died in every other season. Feels like they're likely to take things up a notch this time. Perhaps more likely to be one of the peripheral characters (ie Steve, Nancy, Robin, Joyce, Jonathan) than one of the main kids.

the time travel theory actually makes some sense, when they are in the upside down and Nancy is looking for weapons, she realizes that they’ve gone back a few years.
Since Eleven first opened the gate it got stuck in that time period, it really never closed

cause like the person above me said, eleven made the gate the day will went missing which is also when eleven opened the gate. The Upside Down is stuck the same because nothing has changed in the Upside Down there, course above the upside down it’s changed but nobody has been in Nancy’s upside down house since the gate opened. so it’s probably not time travel.

Most probably Max is going to die because of many theories and little details. First, the letters, there will be a moment in this season or the upcoming season that those letters will be read by the characters. The only reason to read them I could see is her death. Moreover, every detail in the Stranger Things is intentional. Secondly, the letter to Billy, she said if she had she would have pulled him and saved his life… but she stood there. I think that the next time if any of her friends (especially Lucas) would be on the verge of dying, she will sacrifice her life. And this leads to my last point, the song, Running up that hill, “If I only could, make a deal with God and I’would get him to swap our places” this song has a deeper meaning than only being her favourite song. Also Duffer brothers have said that this season is going to be pretty huge for Max.

On one of their behind the scene videos on the set of filming season 4, Caleb (actor playing Lucas) showed a picture on his phone to Gaten which was blurred out due to it being a spoiler, and Gaten reacted with "Did they put contacts on you?" and Caleb said yes. But, we have yet to see a scene with Caleb (Lucas) having contacts on, so there will surely be something that'll happen to him maybe on the finale.

While I agree that she’ll most likely push someone out of the of harms way at some point, I don’t think she’ll die.
I feel like all of these hints at Max dying, are more of a ‘fakeout’ if that makes sense. Like, she’ll stand at the cusp of dying, of rejoining Billy, and all of these hints piled up are like the universe telling her she needs to die, but she manages to survive.
She survived Vecna’s curse, which I perceive as sort of an allegory for trauma/ mental illness. I think this hints at her overcoming her trauma, overcoming Billy’s death and ‘living’ again.
And the song, “Running up that hill.” is very clearly referencing Billy. Especially considering the rest of the song is about feeling hurt by someone you love. This is her clinging onto the past, of wishing they’d “switched places” essentially wishing she was currently dead instead of Billy.
And like you said, she probably promised herself if anyone was in danger, she’d sacrifice herself.
And it’s this song that gets her out of Vecna’s nightmare. And if the whole allegory thing is correct, it is the promise of self sacrifice that gets her out of her nightmare/ the reliving of her trauma.
And that seems like the perfect story device in place for when she confronts Vecna again. There’s a reoccurring theme of survivors guilt in the show, and her going against the trend of self-sacrifice for others would be amazing for her character.
I feel like her end arc would be accepting Billy’s death, and moving on. But then again, who really knows? Lmao

It's Lucas, Jonathan and Will that are going to get major scenes in the next 2 episodes.
Lucas will be attacked by 001 because he's been feeling lonely, his friends and family were not there in his most empowering moment, a championship win. Will is in the similar boat, his family and friends forgot his birthday and he needs to share his painting and significance of it.
Jonathan has done nothing this season alongside Mike so they will get some light as a result of Will's story expansion and the love triangle bait with Nancy. Steve might die, and Nancy might share that she really did love him, giving Jonathan the opportunity to close their door and not weigh her down. Or it might rekindle her as she may need emotional support.

I think Steve is going to die saving Nancy. If Jonathan dies it will be an easy way for Steve and Nancy to get back together, but if Steve dies just as him and Nancy start liking each other again, then it would way more heartbreaking.
I kinda feel this would happen too cause when they say a major character might die, that character would be as major as Steve

My Season 5 Theory: Eleven has to be the one to close (at least the majority) of the gate that bleeds into Hawkins at the end of season 4, therefore using to much of her power and dying. Sacrificing herself for the future and safety of Hawkins.
