omg... Never realized this episode didnt have any dialogue save for the start with the "It's cool dude. We don't have to talk" and the end with that "It's time we talk". I LOVE this freaking show.
It's so creative, this is what makes Mr Robot so cool, the show creators are willing to take so many creative risks. Love Sam and team. It also took me a while to realize that there was no dialogue.
I like the point Milena makes about if they weren't reacting they would not have picked up so many things. When you are just alone , binge watching, a lot of things go over your head vs them reacting and discussing it at length. Keep it up girls
Binge watching can for sure make you miss things. Though just watching it every week as it came out gave you time to digest everything you saw more. Talk to friends about it etc. Some shows better binged, some not. depending on the show.
Sam Esmail tried to be a hacker when he was younger and he had a lot of hacker friends and a lot of interest in the hacking culture. He also disliked how it was portrayed in movies and tv shows previously and decided to make Mr. Robot a far more accurate depiction of hacking.
And from everything I hear it is absolutely, 100% accurate. Like, there are no hacking "liberties" taken, to use any technique or technology or methodology that doesn't actually exist in the real world. Like, clearly the plot is something that can only happen in TV. But every single thing Elliot does as a hacker is possible to do.
@@billbill6094The methods are 100% accurate but the time taken is not, it’s kind of a shame. I do understand that it’s a show but brute forcing using a dictionary attack for example does not take 4 seconds, even if you use a good size botnet
I like how they comment on Elliot's typing with the guard close by and she's like "I would definitely hear that." It's like, sure you'd hear that in your house, but if you've ever been in a server room you'd understand how ridiculously loud they were, as in 75 decibels minimum. You'd have to be clacking away on cherry mx blue mechanical keyboard switches practically pounding on that shit to realistically hear typing in a server room. Well, either that or you put your keyboard right up to his ear and start typing.
The plan being uncertain and fallible is not a plot hole. It's by design. It's a last ditch effort with a lot of variables that could go wrong, and that adds the tension. The point is it doesn't _have_ to work, but there is no other choice. And of course, it doesn't work out perfectly, which gives the characters a test of their improvisation.

Another brilliant episode ❤ don’t feel bad about taking awhile to notice the lack of dialogue, there were plenty of people that never noticed until other people pointed it out to them! Props to Sam Esmail and Tod Campbell for the top tier visual storytelling this episode. Amazing how they can make an episode with only two lines of dialogue SO intense and interesting. Mac Quayle definitely hit the soundtrack out of the park once again for this episode too. So many beautiful shots like the long spinning shot as they run down the staircase! Honestly this show is just a towering triumph of every single thing that goes into making great quality television So great to see our favorite brother and sister working together and holding hands at the end ❤ love the way Elliot looks at her and then throws himself out the door to buy her time to escape while he tries to take all of the heat. There is a common TV trope known as ‘putting a character on a bus’ for when writers want to write a character out of a show without killing them, so that they can possibly come back if need be. Sam confirmed in an interview after 404 that Tyrell was dead and what he saw in the woods was the blue screen of death before going into the light; but lots of fans still believed he wasn’t dead, so I wonder if this inclusion was an intentional jab at that trope or if this is just another coincidence that I’m reading way too far into lol -feels so weird to say but the person with the most lines of dialogue in this episode was Megan Trainor 😂 -the commitment to filming the chase scene across Central Park and down real New York streets. This episode had some unrealistic elements to it but all the hacking and heist stuff was pretty spot on! The only thing unrealistic about the hacking stuff this episode was how quiet the server room was but I don’t really have an issue with that. I like that for the most part the security guard was actually competent. He made a couple dumb mistakes but for the most part he took things seriously. Part of the genius of this episode is that you don't notice the absence of dialogue because there actually is dialogue with all the text messaging. As for the heist plan, I would say I have seen less credible plans on screen, I think this one is ok
It's not a big deal, but with the woman coming home in S2 and no one checking, I'm pretty sure she is only an hour away and they were there for like a month. So really it's not that hard to believe they weren't checking for the hour it took for her to get there
My only gripe with this episode is how quiet the server room was. Server rooms are pretty loud and hot, due to all the machines that are running. Like the room's sound would easily mask someone typing on a keyboard but that's not properly communicated through the sound design in the show.
Also wanted to mention that people get so impressed by the fact that this is basically a silent episode, that a lot of the interesting character work gets glossed over. Kinda feel like I'm talking into the void here since, at this point, I'm pretty certain that they have a very surface level understanding of a lot of the characters in the show. Even characters that they love like Dom and Darlene. Which is really surprising to me because they've always been really intuitive when it comes to characters. For example, Dom doesn't see the importance of the camera just because she's "good" at her job. Point of the scene is that she's breaking out of her rigid need for control by running a red light. Something she would have never done when she's first introduced. In the beginning of the show she's an FBI agent with a very binary view on right and wrong. This is further highlighted when she never really puts it together that Santigo is a Dark Army mole. In her eyes the system is always in the right because it gives her strict parameters to hold onto, meaning she doesn't have to confront the uncertainties of a chaotic, morally grey world. But being forced to work for the Dark Army is making Dom question all of that. In this ep, It's only after breaking the law, seeing the camera take a picture; that she puts it together that the camera could be helpful in finding whoever burned the van. It's this line of thinking that takes her through the rest of the show. Then there's Darlene. Who struggles with being alone and insecurities of not being able to handle things on her own, for the entirety of the show. Never feeling special. The root cause of why she has panic attacks. Once Elliot leaves the building, running off, she's completely alone in the building and has to find a way out on her own. It's really a worst case scenario for her. But she's able to figure a way out, and walks out WITHOUT having a panic attack. This is the first step she's internally taking to realize that she can take care of herself. She can be fine on her own. Finally, there's Price. I think it's the first time we see him not wearing a suit. Just wearing normal clothes, at the very bottom of the building, looking up at what he worked his entire life for. Getting ready to throw it all away for Angela. Spends his whole life trying to be the most powerful man in the room. Wanting to leave behind a legacy that lives up to the standard of "God when he made the earth in his own image". Please ignore all the other requests about this reacting to this or that anime show and just stay focused on this show. Y'all are doing a great job so far. This is still the best series ever made and needs your full attention. That being said, since all these other clowns have done everything to let the cat out of the bag, be ready because there's an upcoming episode that will wound your souls. But it's extremely critical you sit through all of it and try to understand it, as it's very critical to the whole series... as you will see. Remember, Sam Esmail doesn't do random. From Season 1 all the way to the Series Finale, he literally puts everything in front of your face.... whether it's dialogue, a scene, or (most importantly) musical cues. And so far, y'alls discussions have been very good and have hit close to the mark. If you go back to the Season 3 Finale, remember the M83 Song 'Intro', and listen to the lyrics. If you pay attention to that specifically, you'll probably be able to get an idea of how the series will end and EXACTLY what song he will use to end it. I was fairly close, and I figured out what song he used.... so I'm pretty sure y'all should be able to get it. Looking forward to seeing the latter half reactions, as the show ramps up exponentially towards the finale. Enjoy! 😀😃😄😁
I disagree, I found it to be terribly realistic. Did they get incredibly lucky? Yes, they sure did! But that is the context because of the time crunch they had, so they were forced to take unreal risks. They managed to pull it off, despite the risks. Can you share what you found unrealistic?
@@wickedymike The police were incredibly dumb...the whole Elliot running away from the police sequence was just so dumb. And as lola said, Why were they chasing elliot on foot when they have cars ffs And even when they do bring their cars they were still chasing him on foot😂😂 I understand having plot convenience but this was just over the top. Darlene changing her attire and leaving whilst the police just stood there not even asking her any questions.. that just wouldn't happen in real life. Mr robot is a great show overall but this episode wasn't my cup of tea
@@nikhildubey8337 If it happened in real life there absolutely IS a chance that it would play out like this, even if it's extremely low. Police are chasing him on foot because Elliot is on foot, what, you want them to start ramming into other vehicles and go on a high speed crash party and endanger everyone around them? The suspect is a guy who is running and not escalating danger by branding a weapon or anything, legit just running away from them on foot. It was a break in, not an armed robbery. "Darlene changing her attire and leaving whilst the police just stood there not even asking her any questions.. that just wouldn't happen in real life. The "suspect" literally just ran out and is being chased by other cops. The cop that's there is asking for information on what happened. The die hard guy also got a clear look at Elliot's face at the door, so he's not thinking about the woman who walked in earlier. Darlene walking out in gym attire, in a workplace that has an active indoor gym, is reason enough for them to not really look too deep into a woman walking out in gym clothes. Sure, the sequence of events that allowed Elliot to escape is based on extreme luck, but like you said, it's plot convenience, but not to the level of ridiculousness that you're trying to make it out to be.

Enjoy! 😀😃😄😁
MUTE
Kimetsu no yaiba s3 ep1
I liked the fact that this episode was so nicely done.
But i also hated it because of how unrealistic it was
The plot convenience was just too much.
And as lola said,
Why were they chasing elliot on foot when they have cars ffs
And even when they do bring their cars they were still chasing him on foot😂😂
I understand having plot convenience but this was just over the top.
Darlene changing her attire and leaving whilst the police just stood there not even asking her any questions.. that just wouldn't happen in real life.
Mr robot is a great show overall but this episode wasn't my cup of tea
@@nikhildubey8337 American police tend to be incredibly dumb in reality. So, rings true to me...
Sure, the sequence of events that allowed Elliot to escape is based on extreme luck, but like you said, it's plot convenience, but not to the level of ridiculousness that you're trying to make it out to be.
you should see all the police chases in LA lol. You'd be surprised how goofy they look
insane nitpicing
