That's why her name has Lol In it 😂. Hehe But in all seriousness she does say i thought all of this but on a lesser scale. So she was mainly talking about Joel killing everyone being a shock to her.
In the game, as the story moves along, both Joel and Ellie become more open with each other and start talking more about themselves and their past, but at this moment she becomes really distant and quite and you can really feel it in the game because you've always had a voice in the background asking stupid questions and doing silly things, and suddenly you could hear nature. Always thought that was an amazing way of using silence as a tool.
So glad they did justice to the giraffe scene. It's a vital scene in the game. It shows that life can thrive even in this shitty world, and it can still be beautiful. Even after what happened, and Ellie experiences being a kid again just looking at a giraffe being amazed, even if just for that moment.
Yeah, why Ellie was so quiet.. I think it's pretty realistic how they portray just how broken Ellie is after David. He really hurt her emotionally and got her thinking about humanity and everything. :(
@@Dark__Thoughts mmhmm. And it happens to multiple times with Ellie throughout both of the games. Ellie suffers from a lot of mental illness and fatigue really. :( The big part in Part 2 that I recall of Ellie and her mental illnesses is when she kills Mel and starts experiencing the trauma from that and then on the farm. Some people may not have liked part 2, but no one can deny how accurately it portrays mental health and problems :_
The heartbreaking part of that ending for me is how you can tell that Ellie knows Joel is lying. She knows but she she says okay anyways. Mazin in the bts stated how Ellie basically couldn't accept the truth because it was too much for her... Being lied to and betrayed by a loved one (Tommy's wife did say how the only one that could hurt you is someone you trust) is something she just couldn't fathom, so instead she just accepts what Joel tells her. And with that, their relationship changed in that moment. Lol even to this day, fans still debate whether or not what Joel did was right and I love how that discussion is brought up yet again with yhe TV show 👍
What Joel did was wrong. The problem, however, is that the creator of the second game treats the fireflies (especially the doctor) as an absolute 100% hero good guys even though they had been conducting experiments that killed so many kids before Ellie at this point. The first game portrayed the fireflies perfectly, as a shady morally ambiguous rebel faction. That’s the essence that’s missing in the show and the second game.
@@nont18411 Nah, the guy wasn't even a real Dr or Pathologist iirc. He wasn't qualified to do any of that kind of stuff. They could 100% get samples from her brain without killing her since that's a thing IRL.
My favorite line was on ep 5 when they were being attacked by a horde of zombies and Joel looked at Ellie and told her TATAKAE! and Ellie awoke all her powers and stabbed all the zombies
One thing I LOVE that the show took time to portray is just how BAD Joel & Ellie are at communicating how much they love & care for each other to each other. So all that happens in subtext of their dialogue. Ellie's way of expressing that is telling Joel that she'll follow him wherever he wants to go. And Joel's way of doing that is telling her that "it time wasn't time that did it". And you IMMEDIATELY see just how much both of these things mean to the other person, and just how sincere the sentiment is. Beautiful stuff.
I'm so glad you watched TLOU. You girls have more emotional intelligence than any reactor I've seen (and I've seen a lot), so you two understand so well what so many misinterpret. Now I can't wait for your thoughts on Part II, 'cause it really puts you through a test.
I feel like many who played part 2 were lacking that exactly. People lacked empathy.. And weren't able to understand. I think these two will like season 2 and 3 a lot.. And I think they'll like Abby a lot as well and her relationship to Ellie
I came here to say the same thing. - Asked someone in the real world why people are so myopic (in the real world, as well as online), and he said something interesting, they can't or don't think of others as having internal lives or being a whole person outside of themselves (so they don't 'put themselves in others' shoes'). Perhaps they should go back and (re)read, To Kill a Mockingbird.
Totally agree with the emotional intelligence part. I really appreciated their reaction to Ellie killing the pervert pastor guy last episode (can’t remember his name). LM reactions were horrified and saddened because they understood that would permanently change Ellie. This is opposed to other reactors who almost always seem to cheer and say stuff like “yeah hit him more Ellie!” and I honestly find those reactions kind of sickening.
Having video game Ellie (Ashley Johnson, playing Ellie's mom, Anna, in the show) say "You fuckin' tell 'em, Ellie" to Show Baby Ellie REALLY made me emotional. Such a beautiful, sad scene.
I love that the story gives Joel & Ellie (and the audience) the happy ending they wanted: they're in a safe place (Jackson) and get to live happily ever after. But Joel's lie at the end sours it by breaking the trust at the core of their relationship. It's so good.
The first game left me feeling so empty and that feeling didnt ever go away until after I finished The Last of Us Part II. And I think part of that feeling kept me thinking about that story and about that relationship and about the value of honesty and choice. And I applaud the guts it must have taken to make a story about building a relationship and ending by showing us an emotional bettayal therein.
In the game, Marlene and Ellie knew each other before the mall. Ellie knew Marlene kinda takes care of her and knew Marlene was close to her mom so what Joel did hit more. Everytime I hear Ashley Johnson's voice on this episode, damn, it's so surreal. I love her voice. I love her version of Take On Me (which is from TLOU part 2)
Hearing original Ellie's voice here is fcking insane, so surreal, so trippy like wtf that's Ellie. It's so good they casted Ashley Johnson as Ellie's mom.
Eren: kills the whole world to protect the ones he loves. LM: Ow no Eren, what are you doing? Joel: Let the whole word dies to protect someone he loves. LM: Ohnn, so cute *.* 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So many common threads run through these two characters. Just like AoT, I didn't adjust my allegiance to any particular character, but the actions they made that were considered justifiably right. Call them out when they're wrong and thumbs up when they do good.
Eren scenario is a lot worse. He personally killing the world with his titan army. While Joel he just letting people lived in the world without cure. Joel is not running around the world killing people
@@razeric it is not that worse in my opinion XD if you can cure the world but you choose not to for selfish reasons, is almost as bad. Think in how many children will need to grow in a disgusting world because of joels actions. He is dooming all humanity left, and thoose who are iet to be born
I love this story so much. Each pov at the end (Joel, Ellie, and Marlene/fireflies) has their own justification that is both right and wrong at the same time. Marlene’s is the most “right” from the trolley problem perspective, in that if there is even remote possibility of getting a vaccine, it is worth the sacrifice. But she is wrong to deny the choice and the knowledge of what would’ve happened to Ellie, even if she did it with the best of intentions (sparing her from the fear and the pain). Joel’s perspective is the one most people at least kind of agree with the most. We love Ellie. You said it: “I care about two people in this world now.” We (to differing degrees) begin to feel the weight of this decision as he kills people in worse and worse positions through the hospital- the first few could’ve almost been argued as self defense, but he eventually kills people who are either surrendering or totally incapacitated and out of the fight. But still, right up to Marlene, a lot of people are right there with him. Surprisingly, the lie is the part that gets most people mad at Joel. But to me, even though we know Ellie doesn’t really believe him I think even a weak lie is better than forcing her to live with this truth immediately- if she even could. But from a morality perspective Joel is probably the most wrong pov. Not only does he damn the world, he robs Ellie of the choice he pretends to support at first. But I still understand and mostly support him. My favorite explanation I have heard is: the world took everything from Joel. Can you blame him for taking everything back? Finally, Ellie. As important as it is to understand why Joel did what he did, it is just as important to understand why Ellie would NOT have wanted him to. But it’s a two sided coin. Ellie absolutely would’ve given her life for even a chance to save the world. However, while it sounds noble, it is wrong to give her that choice. She is extremely mature for her age, but she is still a child, and beyond that, she is a child suffering from extreme depression, survivors guilt, and trauma. Basically, she would come to the right decision for the wrong reasons. It would be an unfair cop-out to force her to make that decision. So, in conclusion, every faction is both right and wrong at the same time and I love it.
I always enjoy you two reacting & just BS'ing about anything in general so,so much,it truly puts me at ease and brings a smile to my face. DAMN how I just love Milena's unique little idiosyncrasies and mannerisms ala biting her nails, playing with the remote & her hair, etc. 😝😂
Funny fact: if you overlay a photo of Joel and Anna through a program on your phone, then Ellie's face will come out. Because Ellie is Joel's daughter by blood.
Turn -Washington's spies, Outlander and season one of True Detective I think you'd like. Outlander is filmed in Scotland and takes place in the 1700s and i recall on a Q and A that you both liked Scotland and wanted to visit someday.
Difference between Marlene and Joel is that Marlene is not a parent. Yes she "took after Ellie" but all she did was drop her at Fedra. She didn't raise her. Joel was a parent and developed a fatherly relationship with Ellie meaning his fatherly instincts kicks in want does everything to save her. Marlene does not know the bond between a parent and a child that is why her saying "I know what it feels like" doesn't mean much. Also Marlene mot likely did not expect Joel to react like he did. The last time she'd seen him, he was this cold distant person who thought of Ellie like cargo. She didn't expect him to develop this big bond with her.
Marlene also didn't expect Joel to get Ellie to the Fireflies either. Marlene's crew outside of the Boston QZ waiting for Ellie was supposed to take her, not Joel.
Marlin says to Joel in a veiled way: "Your fiancee Anna gave birth to Ellie and I was there... and where were you and why did you leave Anna!?" You never understood the essence of Marlene's words ... When Joel goes up the mountain with Ellie, he remembers how Sarah looks like Ellie, because they are half-sisters!
Both have acted selfishly. But Joel from a father's point of view. The producer asked 100 parents how they had acted. All the parents would have acted exactly like Joel (all of them chose Joel's actions). People who don't have children 50/50. If it had been explained to Ellie, she could have decided for herself. But just as Marlene did, Marlene also cheated on Ellie in my eyes.
@@Taubi81 Were FEDRA able to kill all infected people on the North American continent with stocks of weapons and ammunition from 2003, as in the movie? And why didn't they want to do it? Did the FEDRA leadership need a vaccine or did they want to keep power at all costs (as Bill said: "there are only Nazis in the government")
The show was setting us up from the beginning, letting us know exactly what Joel would do at the hospital. Bills letter explaining how he and Joel would do anything to protect the ones they love and god help anyone who gets in thier way. Henrys speech about how he did a bad guy thing and betrayed a good man to save Sam. Davids speech about how the Cordyceps isnt evil, it just is, it loves its "children" and will do anything to perpetuate them. Of course this is easier to notice in hindsight or if you played the game. it all plays to the central theme of how love is the best thing because of its power but because it is so powerful, it can make us do the most terrible things. Joel did a bad guy thing but I dont really know if many people could say they would do different if they were in the same position.
SPOILER WARNING! After a certain event takes place involving a golf club in TLOU 2, their tv ratings will evaporate. 😆 I hope they aren't that stupid 2 repeat the same mistake.
@@aemondmommasboy78 then it wouldn’t be The Last of Us and they already confirmed they won’t be changing major events. It wasn’t a mistake either, the game went on to win several awards and tell an excellent story. It’s been 3 years, the game did an amazing job following up from an already incredible story.
• Marlene's voice actor from the game - Plays Marlene in the TV show • Tommy's voice actor from the game - Plays Perry in the TV show • Joel's voice actor from the game - Plays James in the show • Ellie's voice actor from the game - Plays Anna in the show I love that HBO brought back all these amazing voice actors(and a few more) back for cameos in the show all these years later. It was a nice touch & was a welcomed surprise every time I recognized their voices/faces when watching the show.
I'd love to see you both react to the game and see what was different and what was the same and which choices you liked better, both are amazing in their own way anyway
The parallels between the first scene of the episode, Sarah and Joel’s scenes from episode one, the garage scene, Joel and Ellie’s final scene in episode eight and this episode are so well done. Anna telling Ellie she’s got her after she gave birth and Joel telling Ellie he’s got her after what happened with David, which is the same thing he said to Sarah when he pulled her out of their crashed car in episode one. The shot composition of Anna cradling Ellie on her shoulder was the same as when Joel was holding Ellie in the garage. Anna lying to Marlene to protect Ellie and Joel lying to Ellie to protect her from the pain of knowing what he did (although I don’t agree with him lying, I can see why he would want to). Another parallel I noticed was how Joel carried a sleeping Sarah to bed in episode one, laying her to rest, which paralleled him then being the one to carry her to her murderer, literally to her death. And in this episode he picked Ellie up from where she was sleeping, where she was going to die, and carried her to safety, literally carrying her back to “the land of the living”. Ellie this episode really broke my heart. It’s obvious that she’s dissociating and what happened with David really changed her and I believe that she was in a place where she wanted to end her life. I think Joel was able to recognize that and that’s why he sat down to talk to her before the fireflies found them. That and he wanted her to know how much she means to him. Personally, I loved Joel and Ellie’s relationship a lot more in the show than in the game. In the game, it felt a lot like Joel was replacing Sarah with Ellie and wasn’t really able to connect with or read her the way that show Joel can. Show Joel definitely feels more in tune with Ellie’s emotions and is able to communicate better with her (even though it’s still not great communication lol). It definitely feels like he loves Ellie the person and not Ellie the replacement daughter for his dead one. My two cents about if Joel was right or wrong is that it’s a bit of both. I think Joel was right for getting Ellie out of that hospital because the fireflies did not ask for consent. I think he was wrong for killing Marlene and lying to Ellie in order to make sure she’d never try to find them again, which is taking Ellie’s agency away from her. I do think that Joel was acting out of selfish and selfless love. He obviously didn’t want to lose another daughter but also, he wanted Ellie to live without the burden of the world on her shoulders. My controversial opinion is that Ellie would’ve done the same thing for Joel. I mean, we basically saw her version of it in episode eight. She knew that there was a big risk in leading David’s men away from Joel, possibly death which she knew her death would effectively doom the world at that point, and Ellie still did it because she didn’t want Joel to die.
25:24 not just a whole hospital her doom potentially billions of lives. It’s for love sure but it’s also because he didn’t want to be alone again. Not purely a selfless act
I'm from South Africa. Here in the kruger national park, you can literally come right next to a giraffe at times. I promise you, it is more magical when you encounter them in the wild
The part you're confused about is Cordyceps...not the infected... As Tess said being immune doesn't stop you from getting ripped apart... But what Marlene said was that the cordyceps signal (or w/e) inside Ellie makes the "infection" of other cordyceps think that she is already infected... Hence it doesn't try to "puppeteer" her body, because the infection already believes shes "infected"... But yeah, if she comes across a Runner/Stalker/Clicker and/or Bloater; she can be killed... Just not from a bite mark (from Runners and Stalkers)...
I gave birth at home unassisted (by choice) twice. My first time my labor was 3 hours from first contraction to baby out. My second was 4 hours from first contraction to baby out. Super calm, easy, painless, and the best experiences I've ever had. BY FAR better than the horror I was put through at the hospital with my oldest. Just saying that natural birth isn't always long and painful. We're built to give birth.
After all Ellie's been through, the guilt she's been carrying, she needed her immunity to mean something, and Joel told her it meant nothing. Can't wait for season 2.
Anna also used the same knife to cut the umbilical chord that she did to stab the Infected. it could be the infection travelled that way rather than via her bite.
@@johnyd1911 Could be. But distance doesn't mean much here. From the bites, it would take a maximum of 45 seconds to reach Ellie. And that is, at max. My guess is that since a single blood pulse went through Ellie, she wasn't exposed to as much as the infection has someone bitten... Most of it being at that point contained at the bite area, with only a bit travelling through blood.
My personal theory, is that in Ellie’s Mom’s haste to cut the umbilical cord so Ellie wouldn’t get infected, she didn’t think about how she was using the knife she JUST killed an infected with to do it. My guess is that it’s because of that, and not the bite. Which would make it extra tragic.
Yeah, this is what i'm saying too, everyone just decided it's bec of the the bite that they forgot the knife.. i tried to point this out to people but they kept canceling me lmao. Both birth and the attack happened in seconds.. few minutes idk, the infection wouldn't spread that fast especially if the bite was waist down, remember that it took overnight for the infection to take over Sam, could be less for Ana if she stayed alive because it was on her thigh. So logically it was Ellie's knife, and if we think about it that way, that switchblade has a deeper meaning/purpose now.
Not sure when it comes to being pregnant, but at a resting heart rate, it takes 45 seconds to circulate blood, so with her running and fighting an infected it would be a lot less maybe half the time. Also the second she cuts the umbilical cord the flow of blood stops.
Love your guys’ reactions. You asked for recommendations for shows that are already finished. So I’m going to again request Black Sails. Would love to see you guys react to it. It’s great!
top-quality television show with a strong narrative and very compelling characters. the best live-action recreation of a videogame. ❤🔥 Super excited for Season 2
You are all caught up with the first TLOU game, so you could play it now without fear of spoilers. Also works on PCs. Joel isn't a psychopath. He doesn't kill without blinking, he feels bad about it. He's just able to compartmentalise enough to be able to do that when there's no other choice. There is trauma, and we saw that earlier in the series, with him sleeping badly and getting the shakes and stuff. It will haunt him. But in the moment, when something absolutely has to be done and no-one else will or can, sometimes that switch is flipped in some people's brains so they can get on with it with determination. It's not the same as sadists and violence junkies who are always looking for opportunities to hurt or kill, or psychopaths who just have no feelings about it before or after.
I loved these reactions, coming from your fresh perspective since you hadn’t played the games. It makes the experience new again. A complete show I would recommend is Orphan Black. I think you’d both really love it. Also the HBO show Barry. Dark comedy, finishes this year and the episodes are only 30 min, so an easier watch and edit cycle 😅
Well... this isn't a finished show but since you asked for suggestions I'm gonna put it out there since you watched : For All Mankind is an amazing show, it has 3 seasons of 10 episodes each already aired and the 4th is coming, probably by the end of the year. Since you watched The Expanse and The 100 (yeah, sorry to bring back that trauma) I think you would love it, it's not exactly the same but it is pure quality and I'd love to see you watch it and hear your thoughts about it ! Anyway thank you for your videos 😊
A) They didn't have any cure, they only had a theory and hope that it could be achieved so effortlessly (one shot only). B) Even if somehow they managed to create the medicine that would be the cure, how exactly would they produce this medicine and in the endless amounts needed as well? C) How would they distribute that thing? With another idiotic plan of theirs? Ellie would have died for nothing and that's not even to defend Joel. It's common sense, something that these guys had never heard of.
26:51 I disagree with this line of Marlene. The world had change in a way that revert back seems very unlikely, with all the raiders, rap*st, murderers...and i doubt some people wanna go back to what the world was or even taking he cure. That without taking into account that the fireflies don't seem to have the capacity to mass produce it and even less to give it to people, we also don't know how the fireflies might take advantage of having a cure, like "You wanna a cure? Give me your stuff". Weaponize the cure seems like that might have been their objective. So, to me, the world is already too broken to be saved, but doesn't mean humanity cannot survive in it without a cure. We have seen Tommy's setlement and Bill's town. A cure would have done more, but humanity seems to be doing the best it can in that world.
You guys are so good at understanding the core themes of media that I shouldn’t have expected anything less, but you are the ONLY reactions I’ve seen that have taken in the vital fact that Ellie would most DEFINITELY had said yes to the operation. Far too many people have said “No, you don’t know that!” to Marlene after she says “She would want this, and you know I’m right.” The point is that she is right. The show added even more evidence of Ellie’s desire to make the cure at all costs with how they portrayed Sam’s death.
Hey! Since you mentioned to suggest shows that are already concluded, here are some great ones in case you haven't seen them (or even if you have, a rewatch with your opinions would be fun I think) Twin Peaks, Preacher, Hannibal, Penny Dreadful, Carnivale, Watchmen, The Alienist, Battlestar Galactica (:D). And some (finished) anime too, because why not? Cowboy Bebop, Monster, Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Cheers!
You guys have no idea how crazy it was to beat the game and spend like 7 years arguing about this ending (how Joel's decisions would affect the characters, their relationships and the world). Until The Last of Us 2 launched in 2020 and finally gave us some answers. And originally, when they made the first game, there was no plans for a sequel actually, the ending they had planned was really just this one (lefting so many things to be discussed, different emotions, that "ambiguity" and etc), but the first game was such a huge success that eventually they decided to make a sequel (this was probably the reason why The Last of Us Part II took so long to come out). Well, they've already confirmed that they're going to make a season 2 about the second game (probably a season 3 as well, looks like they'll split the second game into two seasons, because it's bigger), so you probably won't be in agony as long as we did back then.
Druckmann made the game with an ambiguous ending but he always had a personal interpretation for what that "Okay" meant. So did Ashley Johnson. And I believe he came up with a SOLID, worthy (albeit first draft) story idea for a Part II even before he started working on Left Behind. How do I know this? Because he talked about how he took Ashley out for dinner and told her the story of Left Behind. Which made her cry. Then he told her the rough story idea for Part II. Which made her cry again lol. So yeah, the studio decided to make a Part II after it became a success, but Druckmann's had the idea for a potential sequel even before they started development on the TLOU1 Story DLC.
I absolutely love you guys and this whole reaction series! Your analysis is always so spot-on and it's the best mix of being both realistic and hopeful. And your emotional investment in these two characters is so awesome to see and really displays how amazing this show is for viewers who've never even played the games. I completely agree with the statement abt Joel's actions vs Marlene/Fireflies. Both of them felt like they were stuck in a corner and it's not because one side was more right than the other, but because they have conflicting senses of purpose. The Fireflies (and anyone else in their situation) would feel pressure to make a cure right away bc they need to make + distribute the medicine before all their resources and people possibly get wiped out, but they obviously feel bad about having to sacrifice a kid bc they're not heartless monsters. They're just desperate to save the people they love, just like how Joel is desperate enough to commit such a violent act to save the kid he now loves and feels he can't afford to lose.
I'm sure you have a huge backlog of series to watch, but I think you two might enjoy an old HBO series called Carnivale, about a traveling carnival in the american dustbowl + supernatural stuff :)
Of the dozens and dozens of TLOU reactors I followed through this series, you two were among. my favorites. Great reactions and deeply felt and insightful comments ladies! Thank You! I hope to see you for Season 2!
Funny you should mention wanting to see them hug, they apparently did film some takes with Ellie leaning on Joel for that scene but decided to go with this one.
Wow. Your channel is exploding. Not surprised. You two are very interesting to watch. The wire is gonna be a tough ling slog. It’s a great show and still relevant today. Please consider shows like the people vs OJ Simpson. 1883, House of the Dragon, 1923, or Yellowstone. I believe you two would be fascinated by those shows. Cheers from Philly
Like, sure, Marlene was correct to go after a potential cure to save humanity, but honestly, the biggest lesson this entire season hammered in episode after episode is that there is not a single individual worth saving anymore that is not one of your own. Ellie was all he had left, who gives a fuck if the current humanity was worth saving when they are so easily capable of all the evil he has had to endure, become, and survive all of these long years since civilization collapsed? It's honestly more crazy to me that Marlene was able to make the decision she did considering how long she was Ellie's 'caretaker'.
Tommy quit The Fireflies for a reason. When he realized they were just as bad as FEDRA he was gone. This episode just proved how right Tommy was. No wonder in 20 years they couldn't beat FEDRA, they're utterly incompetent. 😂
As suggested by another comment below, PLEASE consider reacting to the show The Leftovers soon. One of THE best shows of all time, up there with the likes of Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul. Completely up your alley - short and sweet at three seasons, incredible, devastating story and performances. And best of all, often just flat-out weird (much like Mr Robot), which would lend perfectly to post-reaction discussions/theorising.
Lola has already seen it, I think. I think she mentioned it on one of the mr robot reactions. So no dice unfortunately. That came out before reactions were a thing really.
I can't wait for Abby.. While I love the first game and its characters, over the years Abby (as well as Owen) have become my favorites in the series.. Hoping they stick to the same formula as they did in the game because its a damn brutal masterpiece.
Glad to see reactors who don’t give every possible excuse for Joel’s actions. The moral dilemma is based on the assumption that everything would have worked as planned, which Joel states he believes, but did it anyway.
Do you think that if they took Joel and Ellie together and talked about how they were going to make the cure and Ellie said yes, would Joel still kill everyone involved? And they didn't go for Tess when she was buying Ellie and Joel time... even after one of them discovered Tess was standing there.... so, I am not sure that the doctor was right to begin with! Looking forward to season 2!

@@nont18411 Nah, the guy wasn't even a real Dr or Pathologist iirc. He wasn't qualified to do any of that kind of stuff. They could 100% get samples from her brain without killing her since that's a thing IRL.
*"It wasnt time that did it"* is the best line of the entire season, one of the best dialogues for any show period.
Then you haven't seen attack on titan
@@mmor7380 haha amine
@@mmor7380 The anime that the protagonist becomes a bird in the end?? 🤣
Correction: the best line is “did you know diarrhea is hereditary? Yeah. It runs in your jeans.”
My favorite line was on ep 5 when they were being attacked by a horde of zombies and Joel looked at Ellie and told her TATAKAE! and Ellie awoke all her powers and stabbed all the zombies
11:16 31:32 Her mom and "dad" lied to save her.
Good one, I didn't think about that
I don't think Joel lied to save her, though. I think he lied so that his relationship with her wouldn't be destroyed once he told her the truth
Joel lied so she wouldn't hate him
One thing I LOVE that the show took time to portray is just how BAD Joel & Ellie are at communicating how much they love & care for each other to each other.
“BITCHE-“ Milena was straight up trying to warn them that “bitches” were coming 🤣
8:45 "It's ME!" Ashley letting us know ;)
Casting her as Ellie's mom was a beautiful decision.
Everyone already recognized her voice from her grunts and moans in the forest.
And making Joel one of the canibals was the final disrespect from Neil to Joel
@@guts9160 no that was cool

@@CrazeeAdam 👆👆👆
Totally agree with the emotional intelligence part. I really appreciated their reaction to Ellie killing the pervert pastor guy last episode (can’t remember his name). LM reactions were horrified and saddened because they understood that would permanently change Ellie. This is opposed to other reactors who almost always seem to cheer and say stuff like “yeah hit him more Ellie!” and I honestly find those reactions kind of sickening.
@@CrazeeAdam I totally get what you're saying. But I really think you're wrong about the reason most people didn't like Part 2.
The coolest thing was learning that it's an actual giraffe they're interacting with.
Having video game Ellie (Ashley Johnson, playing Ellie's mom, Anna, in the show) say "You fuckin' tell 'em, Ellie" to Show Baby Ellie REALLY made me emotional. Such a beautiful, sad scene.
I am absolutely sure that She gave birth to a daughter by Joel...
this is indirectly indicated by Marlene herself!!!
@user-dk3pp2hj3v what? She's never met Joel. Lol how was that implied by Marlene 😂
Can't wait until season 2 comes out. It's gonna be absolutely insane for you guys to react to!
Agreed, kinda wish they’d play the game
it's a horrible story
You guys have such a good intuition on characters and situations. I was tired of seeing a lot of reactors not understanding Joel's actions.
You'd be surprised at how many ppl do the craziest mental gymnastics to paint the Fireflies as purely evil for what they did
i always find it ironic that joel thinks ellie's puns are horrible, when pun is the oldest form of dad joke 😂
The last of us, Season 1 Episode 5 minute 25:13
The way Joel looks at Ellie in this episode, everything is so beautiful and pure 😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
LM: Ohnn, so cute *.*
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Been doing a rewatch through reaction videos and you ladies have been my favorite. Well done.
I always expect 'Woke Up In The Morning' to play when that HBO intro hits. 😅
9:40 there is a specific stage of infected called "stalkers" which are still very intelligent so that's why it was able to find her so easily
It's been a real pleasure watching you ladies react to this show. I'm glad you enjoyed it! You two seem really cool.
Fun fact Ellie's mom is played by Ashely Johnson aka ellie's mocap actor in the games :D
Marlin says to Joel in a veiled way: "Your fiancee Anna gave birth to Ellie and I was there... and where were you and why did you leave Anna!?"
You never understood the essence of Marlene's words ...
@@user-dk3pp2hj3v so Joel is actually Ellies Dad?? I’ve never seen anyone mention this before.. thats wild!
I am so glad I found you both! Your reactions and insights are amazing! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Everyone who loves this game said the same thing when the show started: "Please be good." They did such a beautiful job. Cant wait for Season 2

Lola and Milena, the actress, Ashley Johnson who played Ellie's mom Anna is actually the voice/action actress for Ellie in the video games.
• Marlene's voice actor from the game - Plays Marlene in the TV show
• Tommy's voice actor from the game - Plays Perry in the TV show
• Joel's voice actor from the game - Plays James in the show
• Ellie's voice actor from the game - Plays Anna in the show
I love that HBO brought back all these amazing voice actors(and a few more) back for cameos in the show all these years later. It was a nice touch & was a welcomed surprise every time I recognized their voices/faces when watching the show.
I'd love to see you both react to the game and see what was different and what was the same and which choices you liked better, both are amazing in their own way anyway
Joel saw that Ellie was about to die and just said, "Y'all are gon' keep fuckin' around with me and turn me back to the old me." lol
Daaamn. Love the hair Lola!!
Loved watching your reaction to my favorite story, and now show of all time.
Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us!
Omg, i love your Bartlet sweater!
The first thing out of Melina’s mouth upon seeing the fireflies in the background: “N-n-bitches!” lol
That hoodie is awesome Lola.. i have Santos/Mcgarry one

Anna also used the same knife to cut the umbilical chord that she did to stab the Infected. it could be the infection travelled that way rather than via her bite.
Betting it was that since the distance was very short compared to the bite on her leg...
I been watching this channel since GOT. I love their reactions and opinions.
OMG, I haven't thought of that, you're right!
But eventually it saved Ellie's life, when she was bit at the mall. So basically Anna saved her.
Your reactions to this episode are so endearing. I'm glad to have come along this journey with you. I enjoy your content and look forward to more.
The Bartlet shirt is awesome!
I am your fan from Iran. And now it's 4 o'clock in the morning and I'm watching your video

top-quality television show with a strong narrative and very compelling characters. the best live-action recreation of a videogame. ❤🔥
Super excited for Season 2
Ellie's mom is played by Ashley Johnson who is Ellie's actress in the Last Of Us games
Dark comedy, finishes this year and the episodes are only 30 min, so an easier watch and edit cycle 😅
thank you for doing this series
Well... this isn't a finished show but since you asked for suggestions I'm gonna put it out there since you watched : For All Mankind is an amazing show, it has 3 seasons of 10 episodes each already aired and the 4th is coming, probably by the end of the year.
Hey! Since you mentioned to suggest shows that are already concluded, here are some great ones in case you haven't seen them (or even if you have, a rewatch with your opinions would be fun I think)
Twin Peaks, Preacher, Hannibal, Penny Dreadful, Carnivale, Watchmen, The Alienist, Battlestar Galactica (:D).
Y'all have great reaction videos and discussions pre and post episode. Keep up the good work!

I'd love to see you do The Leftovers next.
I can’t wait for you guys to watch part two.
Amazing story, so glad you guys loved it!! I am SO excited for Seasons 2&3, the story is going to make for some fabulous tv 🎉
oh man it was a ride and TLOU1 is the happy one.

20:54 Lola had the same reaction I had. 🤣🤣
Glad to see reactors who don’t give every possible excuse for Joel’s actions. The moral dilemma is based on the assumption that everything would have worked as planned, which Joel states he believes, but did it anyway.
Marlene is leader of Boston QZ not entire firefly group 🙂 that why she said she had no other choice.
Can’t wait for these two to see what happen in seasons 2 and 3 haha
Lola, I’m LOVING the West Wing shirt! Even though it wouldn’t be blind, a West Wing reaction would be amazing! Has Milena seen it?
