Very inexpensive compared to the single malt whiskies I love. I just can't get into Spiced Rum at all but I do love a Smith & Cross or Dr. Bird in a fabulous Daiquiri!! Cheers Steve!! 🙂

This is dark rum? It doesn't look dark.

It’s Spiced Rum. Don’t forget, Dark Rum is just normal Rum with a load of e150a Caramel colour added. Very rarely are charred barrels the only way a Rum has picked up colour. In fact, the lighter in colour it is, the less e150a has been used and the more colour it’s picked up from a charred barrel.

@@StevetheBarmanExtra thanks Steve. Good to know. To me it looks like a gold rum. I thought spiced rums could be any color. The Kraken is black spiced rum obviously and I have also tried some inexpensive spiced rums like Trader Vic's and Black Mask that were gold in color. I also recently tried a spiced rum from Shellback that was completely colorless (not sure if that would be called a silver or white rum) but the one thing all these rums have in common is that they were very sweet. So far the best spiced rum I have tried is Sammy's Beach Bar Kola Spiced Rum (dark in color) which I liked due to it's reduced sweetness and intoxicating buttery aroma.
