    On my old crew for Lexington county, SC we used a 308 cr w/ diamond 3 blade brush cutter to maintain the county's retention ponds, always thought it worked well, would love to see how the 309 handles it

    I’ve got a new 308 and the stick steer mode has 2 settings. One is called blade and the other is excavator. If you set it to blade mode you can actually work the blade with the other lever but you can also control the stick and boom with the finger toggles on the levers as well. Those machines have so many features I can’t remember the majority of them.

    The 308s are great machine I can't wait to try a 309 they have a dedicated pump for aux hydraulic functions so they are supposed to not bog down as much when you use the aux and other functions at the same time

      A brush cutter isn’t as demanding for power as a mulcher head but so far I’m impressed it is really nice

      @rirebel6029 Pƙed 3 lety

      @@rirebel6029Its still only going to be more flow than a standard 308 you dont get extra pressure like with the highflow skidloaders

    • @rirebel6029
      @rirebel6029 Pƙed 3 lety +3

      Of course but a dedicated pump to run aux hydraulic makes all the difference in the world .just like on the rubber tire excavators that share the drive and boom controls they suck because they prioritize one hydraulic function over another ....if you're traveling and using the boom it is essential fighting itself over which function to run so neither run correctly......a dedicated pump to run the mulcher head makes it so ypu can use your boom and travel and not starve your hydraulics at the mulcher

    Getting ready to buy a brand new 299 XE and wanted to see how you liked it. How does the power of the new XE compare to the XHP when running the mulcher? Does the machine feel any tighter or nicer? It looks like I’ll be picking up the machine in the next two weeks if they can locate an available unit.

      @@winscolandclearing trailer is still overloaded no matter what the truck is rated for. 309 is 21,000 lbs by itself plus cutter attachment. the 299d3 is 11,400 plus cooler kit and mulcher head attachment. just saying the ticket would add up fast.

    • @tommyparker1651
      @tommyparker1651 Pƙed 3 lety +6

      Your truck is rated to tow 40k not stop 40k. You don't have large enough trailer brakes for that load without 15k trailer axles.
      I transport and use the 299d3 with land management package which includes the saddle fuel tanks. It's equipped with the Denis/Cimaf 180D mulcher head and the unit weighs in at 17500. My trailer uses 12k axles with electric over hydraulic disc brakes, better to have overkill than kill someone. Make two trips next time. The fuel and time you saved is not worth someone's life or injury, including your own.

    Pretty sure you’re exceeding the gvwr of that trailer. That 309 is probably over 22k with that mower and that 299 weighs 13k with the mulcher? Not trying to be mean or petty. Also don’t believe or couldn’t tell if you had USDOT numbers nor running apportioned plates for the weight and IFTA since you are crossing state lines. You can do what you want but the problem will be if you are involved in an MVC you’ll greatly increase your liability. It can even be the other drivers fault and because you are operating illegally you’ll be at fault. You’ll not only have the civil litigation to deal with but can also be criminally charged if injuries or a fatality occurs. It’s the world we live in these days. That’s why you see all the lawyer billboards about suing trucking companies and you are a private motor carrier transporting your equipment in a commercial enterprise. If you are not doing it to the letter of the law (even weight violations) then for your own protection don’t post videos showing the violation because in the remote chance anything ever occurs plaintiffs counsel will find these videos. Otherwise keep up the good work.

      Also neck of trailer showed that it's rated for 26k. As stated your load exceeds 30k easily not including the weight of the trailer itself which is probably 7.5 - 8.5K. Your overloaded and under raked, if not for your own safety think about a kid accidentally running out in front of you on a bike.
