Other reviewers hyped this motorcycle too much. I was disappointed after test ride as it didnt match up the hype. This review is much needed grounded to reality approach.
Royal Enfield is spending a lot of money for marketing with the help of auto journalists I think. Even the teambhp review felt to be a bit biased.
Exactly right. Exactly what I felt after my test ride.
can describe what lack? i need to choose good touring for long distance, this on my list. is it lack power or stability.
?
The hype is real. But I loved the bike.
Can you state your reason for disappointment. Just curious.
Hey Strell, regarding the navigation and phone screen issue. I'd like you to try something interesting.
1. Arrange an MI Phone that's relatively up to date.
2. Add the Royal Enfield app as a game in the game space.
3. Open the Royal Enfield app and start navigation.
4. Pull the Game Space tab, and turn off the screen.
*Profit*?
Hacker hain bhai hacker hain lol nice one.
I swear I was waiting for this video since the himalayan was launched.. I've always searched Himalayan 452 strell and while commenting this is the first time it actually showed me video..
You are one of the best Indian motorcycle reviewer, the quality reminds me of FortNine Channel, the only difference is, that they have good editing and story telling skills. But apart from that, being specific, detailed, no bullshit and drama, you watch the video to get information without wasting time and your videos do that! Keep it up and keep improving
Thank you 😊
FortNine compare is a little bit too much, they are 1000 kms ahead from anyone or any channel. Strell is good but not that specific.
Fortnine's motorcycle content is on another level, i like strell but defo not yet on Ryan's spot.
🪣
Can't compare with Ryan ..he's in the hall of fame.
His story telling, narration skills, and technical skills are stratospheric
This is the type of stuff i subscribed for 🔥🔥🔥
The one review I've been waiting for so long. I've seen this bike in Hyderabad showrooms and it looks huge and me being 5'5 tall, I felt it intimidating(being a beginner rider). I went to checkout meteor 350's price and saw this bike and fell in love with it. Btw even I've heard of few owners facing cone set issue. I don't know why RE is taking this long to address some of the basic issues which are evident in almost all of their bikes. Hopefully they fix these issues. Lots of love to Strell for giving us informed decision. ❤❤❤
I didn't watch any Himalayan videos till now, was just waiting for your video
The bike which i got had an issue with braking especially in bumper to bumper traffic when you continuously apply brakes it did not work, the brake lever touched handle and gassed out but the service was very cooperative and addressed the issue right away
What was the issue ? Brake fade or something to do with brake fluid ?
@@RRP1992 brake fade it was they changed the MC kit now it's fine
Liked just so this comment can be shown
Very detailed work. Enjoyed. I was almost sold by other reviewers, but now I decided to try it. Hopefully next week and I will be filming it. Will see about the vibes. It can be annoying. Got my like.
One of Much waited of you're bro . love you❤
This content deserves more subscribers 🎉
thanks strell, its been a long awaited review for me.
ur reviews are the best man.. to the point and no nonsense..
Thanks for sharing your views on vibrations. I've been hearing on other reviews that there are little vibrations. Being a Honda motorcycle owner, vibrations are the first thing I notice in a motorcycle. And I knew I could only trust your review since you have experienced the Honda refinement. Honda has overpriced NX500 yet again. The Himalayan seems vfm now which can do 75% of things the NX can. I'll be considering it as my next motorcycle few years down the line. Hopefully any initiall batch issues will be resolved by then.
Wait for an year. The NX500 price might drop by another 1lakhs 😬
I have a versys 650 which is like a butter when it comes to vibration .. though there is a vibration after 100kmph on him450 noted during my 40km test run , I went ahead and booked it .. reason !! Always been an explorer and India there are places you can explore on road .. those I call tourist places .. which my versys does fantastic job .. now to explore places which is on road and lots of off roads, twists and second the city ride ! Both reason wanted a bike this fit the bill ! Versys does a poor job at both ! Considering 80% of the time I’ll not go above 100 , went ahead and booked it! Am I gone sell my versys or will Himalayan 450 can replace my Versys … hell no !!
I feel 5.9L is a much better price when you consider Honda's track record of absurd pricing at launches. And its a CBU unit hence the quality of the bike matches with international standards. And its a twin cylinder engine, hence comparing both doesn't make any sense in my opinion. One is a pure adv touring machine while other can be used both for touring and offroading. But the character of a twin cylinder is different from single. Lets see how Honda fairs this time in the competition🤞🤞
@@TwowheelerMonkI would say increase your budget slightly (2X actually) 😂 and get the Honda NX 500, I'm keeping my V650 and getting the Honda for precisely the same reason as you, off roads and city commutes. Himalayan is no match to the Honda, sad but true 😢
Also the front design of NX500 is dogsh*t
I have appreciated the honest confrontation with the Interceptor 650.
Pure review like always. I really appreciate your bare bone style of reviews. No background music, No flashy animations and editing. Minimalist style from start till end.!
Thank you :)
@@iamstrell hey, let me know if I should buy this over an older BMW f650gs or G650GS for daily around town and rural riding in the USA, thanks. I like the idea of buying either this or a used bmw, to drive daily and then someday take trans-continent touring maybe or at least do some long journeys.
Your reviews are awesome❤️
I have a request can you make a review video on Karizma XMR
Love your review... No Rubbish talking, only honest review... ❤❤
Wonderful intro man, you got me there
It is a beautiful step by royal Enfield and also for its customers. Whoever purchases this Himalayan motorcycle he will be immensely happy by its performance and after that Himalayan 650. I wouldn't be surprised if royal Enfield became the heart of India. They are producing great motorcycles.
Nice comprehensive review of the 450. We need a similar reviwe for the RE Shotgun 650 and Aprilia RS 457 please cheta.
The starting lines are really good 👍👍👍
best review I saw on this bike until now and I saw a lot of them! Subscribed
Thanks 😊
I was waiting for your review thankss🙌🏻
Good review after riding for 2000 km ! These kind of reviews gives better clarity ! Yes the city driving and U turn are really not comfortable with this ‘ so all your verdict is perfect and right ! 🤝🤝👍👍🤝🤝👏👏👏
ഒരുപാട് കാത്തിരുന്നു കിട്ടിയ വീഡിയോ
The much awaited review🎉
Yes ! I too observed the coneset issue. The handle bar was not perfectly perpendicular to the fork in the brand new motorcycle. They donot have skillset or system identity and resolve it properly it takes lot of time and efforts. Have issue with connecting my phone to Console.
Bro by raising the handle bar can fix the cone set issue?
I've been using the bike for a couple of weeks now, one thing I've found out is that it vibrates at 100-110, but when you do 120-130, the vibes fade away, it's actually decently smooth at those speeds.
Yes it’s between 5000-6000 rpm and starts to fade as it crosses 6k
Color looks dope 🔥 😃
Really I am curious to know that if you are going for an offroading (only offroads no highway touring) and you have two choices this one and the old himalayn 411. Which one you may choose for that purpose alone? Kindly pls tell
Nice Review, a good job from RE... If you want a KTM added with RE issues then this is the one for you !!
That was a brilliant review strell ❤
Probably the best RE Himalayan 450 review on the internet!
Very well done review with intelligent assessments and commentary. About the "cone set". Do you mean the steering head bearings? Do they come loose? And how does this cause the handlebar to be misaligned?
I have been waiting for your review before making the decision of buying this bike!
🔥 much love from Mysuru
Please make a video on aprilia rs457... awaiting ur thoughts
Which one to pick up ktm adventure 390X or himalayan 450 for office commmutes and long rides every month end my height is 5.6 and weight is 110kg which bike would suit me @Strell
Great review , it opens up a lot of perspective to approach this bike , thanks a lot for this review
Hi I own Himalayan 450 I’m having the same cone set issue but the service people just tighten it and said it’s all they can do , any solution!?? I hate can be done. ?
As Shang Tsung famousily said: "no motorbike is without problems". Thanks for a honest review
Aah nice to see my color of choice for this bike.
Osam really great i love it for ever happiness in mind voice😍🥰.
Earnestly waiting for your review ❤❤
Thanks, great review. Good point regarding the first generation. For me it´s between the 450 and the Triumph 400X ... but I´m in no rush so I can wait for the "improved" 450 and then it´s gonna be a tough decision between those two. But anyway it´s gonna be nice to drive something not that overpowered as most bikes today. I drove a GS for a long time - great bike - but nobody needs that much performance (well, some do but that´s because they like to flex) and the design is ... well, you know. Take care and drive safe.
Loved your honest review! I learnt to ride on my 2018 Himalayan, and thought the 450 has come out at the right time when I was thinking of upgrading. But when I took a test ride last week, figured except the name there's nothing kept from what the 411. So now I am thinking whether to fork out the price of two himalayans and go for a nx500 or go the distance for a proper adventure tourer and shell out the cost of three himalayans for a Transalp... :)
Does you feel cone set issue is as serious as previous version..as cone set issue was annoying in that him 411..? I sawsome video in which they sey the round black bolt below the handle bar loosed some time which cause this issue...and cone set issue a deal breaker for this bike?
Thanks for your honest opinions.
What settings did you use for the screen not to flicker like the others? I plan to use it for motovlogging but not with a flickering issue.
Nice review , i own a himmy 450 kamet white , i must agree with you about low end torque.
Thank You Strell
headlight focus is not adjustable so if the load is more on back then the focus is not on roads bec low beams act as high beams so we need to go for additional fog lights and I face this during a test drive on night time
Which bike would you go for if preference is ride comfort, Gs310, himalayan 450, adv390 or scrambler 400x
I own a 450, and there is an issue with throttle response where it takes a while to settle down when you close the throttle fully.
Noticed that Rim bend in B Roll.. Does it contribute to the vibration
Thankyou for your sherpa description
Love the colour
hey strell... am being a big fan.... loved your unbiased review for any bike..... looking for extensive review for honda cb300f..... we would love to hear it from you..... thank you
you have already covered it in previous time..... but we do love to hear it in a user point of view which you said for re450
Is there rim alignment issue or rim is slightly bent on the front side
Are there vibrations on foot pegs , handle bar and seat for speed range between 90 to 120 kmph i.e 5000 to 6000 rpm range?
Himalayan has these stubborn issues like con set twisting, tappet noise, engine vibration as standard. Speaking as a 411 owner.
Yep felt the same annoying high frequency vibrations when I took the test ride too. Started from 95 and all the way upto 120-125.
But I have seen nobody talk about this untill now, people who have booked/bought are biased and justifying their purchase any way.
And I do not recall the vibrations being as annoying on a KTM, plus its 30kg lighter. ADV 390X is the way to go.
If someone is cruising at 80-90 because of vibrations, they'd rather get an Xpulse, which weighs 50kg less and costs 2 lakhs less.
I have an Xpulse and a CBR 250 and when I tried the Himalayan 450 I knew it was not worth the effort as the vibes are there and it’s not a smooth as the CBR or as agile as the Xpulse… so now maybe the NX 500 from Honda is my next target……
KTM ADV is not any 30kgs lighter than Himalayan 👎
What do you think about Honda NX500?
I saw a lots of review on NX500. Its a super machine but the price is higher side. Should we wait for a price cut from Honda like CB300R.
What's your take on Himalayan 450 vs Dominar 400 - for touring purpose only...
No face biker 😂
Have neen watching your videos since 5 years and have been enjoying your unbiased reviews and enjoying it so far, keep doing the good work
Dear sir, a kind request for you to update the pure riding sound playlist and make it a little more easy to find🙏🏻
I think manufacturers should provide option of standard halogen headlight
Not a comparison between h52 and TrS400x but please could you do a long term review of scrambler 400x review.
I like this kind of review. Such reviews are more practical to know about a bike.
Obviously i like this bike.
And a single cylinder bike can never be as smooth as a twin.
So I think, a mild vibration can be accepted.
Appreciate these POV 😊
Could you elaborate on the conset issue you mentioned??
Ride modes can be changed on the fly by keeping the clutch lever pressed when switching modes.. No requirement to turn off the ignition.
Thanks for the info. Does this method helps in changing ABS mode as well !
@@iamstrellNo it doesn't. Only after you kill ignition
waiting for the Malayalam video.
Bought the vehicle on jan 8 and from first day feeling the same issue ,fork cone set twist and even the showroom service engineers doesn’t know how to fix the issue the bike is in the service centre from last Monday it’s been four days still the issue haven’t resolved.
Pissed off by their response
What is the weight limit on the RE 450?! I am always confused about the full load weight! Do they count the total weight of the bike + how much on the top or only the load weight without the bike?! Thanx ✌️😎
Hi sir i eant to do some touring on bike and i only ride scooters or manual car. So could you please suggest a bike for 1st time riders for touring. Also is Himalayan good for beginners and my height is 5’8
Hi sir how r u, i have booked d same color, pls suggest me my daily commute is with in city.
I booked only on the behalf of it's all rounder nature, i m confuse between himalayan & shotgun 650. Pls suggest which will be better option between these two
@Strell, would you choose this over an older BMW f / G650GS for daily driving in rural conditions? mostly paved some gravel and dirt, thanks.
Are you crazy???gs650 even 20 years old and 100.000 kms done is a far more reliable and more powered than this junk with problems noone will solve.....Another enfield nightmare.
How much the seat height can be lowered to?..I mean the lowest setting when compared to that dominar seat height...I can manage that seat height or a bit more comfortably...and how comfortable will it be riding with pillion n luggage on off roads
Very clear thoughts man 👍. Good machine from RE. BUT, apprehensions of niggles remain for a freshly baked product especially when we look at the past track record of RE.
One thing i wanted to ask. If someone has nothing to do with off-road, what would you suggest; Himalayan or Interceptor.
Cheers
Thanks.
Without off roads, I'd prefer Himalayan for better seating comfort and confident highway riding.
@@iamstrell Ok, thanks 👍
I had booked my 450 already but was waiting for your review now I know what to expect from my bike thanks manh
What is the recommended tyre pressure for Himalayan 450?
You underrated af
Height issue if you are short, bike is quite good as the shortcomings you mentioned is very minimal. Positives overcome the small negatives.
Waiting your video
Is it really a cone set issue or is it the top nut which sits right underneath the handlebar; because the same issue was faced by the CZcamsr called sagar sheldekar while off-roading
Anyone just suggest me the best bike to go tour around india for continuous 4-6 months
Hi bruh..!! Kudos..!! Tats a neat and crystal review among all other praising reviews...thanks for that....I am planning to own one.. I am an owner of RE (1990/2019 ES) tats a diff genre.., i dont bother on the instrument clusters, I am not a adrenaline rush guy.. i am expecting a peaceful smoother ride on 100-120 cruising speed.. all i need s a peaceful vibration free ride... Pls let me know is it smoother on the above mentioned speed ...? Thanks in advance..!! I understand 80-90 & 130 to 140 s smoother...!!! But I am concerned which would b a perfect rpm for smoother 100-120... !!!
RE Himalayan 450 or KTM 390 Adv???
What should I buy??plz share your opinion
would love a similar review on the speed 400
can you please elaborate more on the coneset issue? seems like the first major problem has cropped up. was it fixed in the old unit you dropped off? you also mentioned you noticed this in your new unit as well, has it been fixed yet?
All Royal Enfields have this coneset issue.. It's very common in RE..
10:58 That stand position is a nightmare. Iam5'9. Imagine 200kg on ur toes. While I took the test ride, liked the bike. but have to say that stand was really a turn down.
Being an owner of this bike from 700kms and heading to kanyakumari which is another 700kms from here for BoBMC event.. I can't wait to take this to the highway because I've not got the chance to cross 4.5-6 rpm.. I'm leaving tomorrow and will try to share my story
Finally!
what was the camera setting for screen flickring issue?
Which do you think would be better for daily use and weekends at twisties between the interceptor and Himalayan?
You said you would take the Himalayan over the interceptor as you feel more connected.I get that the Himalayan is more comfortable but is just as much fun?
I own an interceptor. I test drove Himalayan. I felt no instant connection compared to interceptor 650. On long trips I get 32-33 on the interceptor, so Int650 is more fun(GT is better only for twisties). Himmi does many things but ability to be docile at low rpms and torque in your face when revved can only be felt on Int 650.
I too am in the same dilemma.
Heart says Interceptor, mind says Himalayan. Although I am yet to test ride Himalayan, I feel that for open roads/highways Interceptor could be a better option, though less practical, only because of its sweet parallel twin.
@@MAX-xw8xq
Correct !!
Interceptor leaves an instant positive impression due to its no nonsense approach and that p-twin ENGINE.
By the way, what's your opinion about much talked about suspensions of Interceptor. Are they really too bad ? Sometimes I feel that this hype is deliberately created by market. I mean before this craze for USD forks, the conventional forks were doing alright and no one was complaining.
Thanks
@@manojsharma-qp7jkI changed to YSS suspension front and rear. I won’t say it’s night and day but the front fork replacement makes the bike feel even more connected and responsive making it wonderful in the twisties, and mine with 20W fork oil makes the braking noticeably sharper. For the YSS rear, I’d say it’s less plush but much lighter and better for fast riding.
@@Ride_XP
So that basically confirms that suspensions are the weakest link in this otherwise fantastic package. In long ownership, this can't be overlooked and would need to be addressed.
Thanks 👍
Thank goodness RE Himalayan chassis didn't break during filming of this video .
What do you mean by "Con set" can you explain better I do not understand this phrase I know what the Triple Clamps are? Are the fork tubes twisting in the clamps, or is it something else ?
I already have a deposit down for the 450 when it arrives here in Australia, hopefully some time in March. I know no bike is perfect, and a big single will have some vibration unless it has two balance shafts. But It is nice to have a heads-up before I jump on the bike for the first time, thanking you & Cheers from downunder.
Cone Set is the 02 nos Handle Bearings....racer/ tapered bearings that do the steering
For OLD Himalayan411 & intercptr650 the part no. is NTN 32305..a pair of them
Strell bro, can you please do a video on updated dual tone jawa 42. Heard almost all problems are sorted out
I do not know that anyone noticed or not but on 14:11 minute you can see the band on tyre rims. How is it possible?
