It is honestly very nice to see you back here so often lately. Thanks.
I 2nd that!
Yeah he's really been pumping out the videos lately, which is awesome.
@@rodbelding9523 It's probably time for new Bow, Mrs. O can just about spank him in archery.
Been awesome with all the videos lately!
CZcams monitzes more in the month of December
Almost made it to 830 in the morning without breaking out the torch, lol.
That had me laughing so dam hard.
Same here!!
Gotta love the corrugated/scrap metal skid plates. 👍
Your Channel definitely Helps us Decide which Brands and Models we should Avoid. 😬👍
It may be true to some extent but mechanics see what customers drive and not all communities drive a diversity of cars, some may be over represented.
Avoid Stellantis, Nissan and the Koreans.
Every video is great When Mrs. O makes an appearance! The rest are just very informative and fun!
Mrs. "O" is a top shelf woman.
Speaking of the great Huntress Mrs. O- has she bagged another deer, or is the season in PRNY finished?
Yea !!! An exhaust install that you can do fairly easy - no rusted clamp / nuts, pipes fused together and won't separate, have to drop shields and shocks to get it in !!!! Nice of Mrs. O. to come pay you a visit and see if you're working !!!! I miss Luna and her debut appearances, she always has a lot to say !!! Drilling a drain hole is above and beyond most standard mechanics - but you go the extra 5 miles so the customer gets more life out of the parts you install for him/her !!!! Well done, Eric. Can't wait for the next one.
Before you mentioned it, I was impressed that you could put the truck on the lift. Here in MN our rust isn't as awful as yours, but the Dakota frames still don't last long.
It isn't? My f150 was toast after a few years. A 2011 before all the aluminum but the rockers, frame, brake lines were all gone. I have a 95 work van now that I'm in TX and it's nicer than any of my MN trucks. Very depressing.
Colorado has the mag chloride. Makes ya go slip sliding away.
@@tomtheplummer7322
They’re also using that in Texas now. Probably going on 10 years or so.
Looks like the frame was coated
@@jamesofallthings3684 Not positive it's worse in NY than MN, but I did see one of his videos with a 2015 Chevy with the frame gone. I haven't seen that in MN. Frames in my area last 20 or so on 3/4 & 1 tons that we work on. I know I walk away from used vehicles from NY, PA, MA, and a few more including MI.
Thank you for protecting your eyes Eric. God bless you youngster for what you do here
Eric O. All the videos you've been putting out lately is EXHAUSTING!! Keep it up!!
I'm spent from all this...............wait for it!!.....exhausting work!
I always enjoy your Segways at the end. Thanks Eric
Yes! Loving all the videos lately. Thank you good sir! 👍
This channel just makes me happy.
Thanks, Eric, appreciate the thoughtful narration.
Mrs O is an absolute delight & thanks for the video Mr O!
The weep hole thing reminds me of a Nissan xterra that come through the shop one winter for a crank no start. It was dropped off the night before so we pushed it in the drip bay to thaw. Next morning it fired right up. Turns out some exhaust work was done and the muffler filled so full of water it would freeze overnight and actually blocked the exhaust. Drilled a hole, drained it out, right as rain.
I've heard some fighter planes had water-injection to boost power, but....
@@markh.6687 water injection can cool intake air temps and allow more power from denser air.
@@FishFind3000 Yes, but they're exhausts didn't fill up with water like that Nissan :)
Thanks for the videos. I try to watch them all. Excellent work ethics.
Thanks for the hole tip. You're the best.
Keep up the good work sir. You’re a good man, mechanic, and CZcamsr.
Thanks for the what’s up Wednesday you were on great form great two hours of entertainment
Thanks as always, Eric, even when it's "exhausting."😁
I like the torch when it's 3 inches from my face! Joys of diy without a lift. Thanks, Eric for the invaluable lessons. I learn something new from every video!
its always good to see you like family to me
Job well done and thank you for the weep hole tip
Hey from Michigan good old Rust Belt just like you I actually have family in Buffalo New York. They’re still shoveling out then a mechanic for 30+ years this time of the year literally gives me chills.
Nice Job buddy, remember learning the drain hole trick at least 35 yrs. ago, man I am old.
I'm "exhausted" just watching you work...
Nice clean install. I remember putting new tailpipes on my 56 Belair around '69. All brass coat hangers! Nice clean install.
Dude you're creeping up on a mil. I'm proud of you bro keep up the good work!
Thank you for the lesson on the drain holes. I’m gonna have to look under my vehicles now to see if they have them.
im doing two days of working on a Polaris snowmobile and now im watching a new sma video, im in heaven, OH YAAAAAAAA
Yay! We got to see Mrs. O. again!
And yes, Eric, we've exhausted our patience dealing with mufflers.
Pretty easy Exhaust replacement job Eric O entertaining as always @South Main Auto Repair LLC
Great job Eric , just shows you the old fluid film undercoating certainly done the trick on that 4x4 . Great to see plenty of clips coming out from SMS . Just getting the salt on the roads again over the pond in Scotland here again .👍👍
Thanks for another good video!
Thanks for the tip on the weep hole
The torch saves a lot of cussin' in removing exhaust systems. Only caveat is ensuring fuel system has no leaks before lighting up. Weep hole will stretch muffler life and a wise move
to save your customer money. Great video as always ! ✔👍👍
One of the cleanest undercarriage in New York I've seen on your channel. Good thing they Fluid Film. :)
Dude! You are on a roll with these vids. Thank you as always for educating us DIYers
I enjoyed the title, the video was just a wonderful bonus.
Fits pretty good for aftermarket exhaust. Nice work
Thank you for the drain in the resonator, lol, I didn’t know if you were going to do it. Great video, great job!
Good video always learn something new
Your water in the resonator reminded me of a situation I had working at a GM dealership in a small town in the PRMN. Car was towed in with a no start condition. It was the middle of winter and the owner only made short trips. Turned out the muffler had filled with water/condensation from the engine due to short drives and froze solid - giant ice plug that blocked the exhaust. Left the car sit in the shop overnight and had a massive puddle of water on the floor the next day. Car started right up and ran fine. Drilled some drain holes in the muffler and told the owner to take it on some longer drives to help minimize moisture collection. Problem solved. Thanks for the great videos!
thank you mr. O for the tip on the weep hole!!!!
Yes….love the dakota visits…my 2000 still roadworthy and has the 4.7 also 🎉
I'm sure the sales rep for that muffler kit got a bit upset that you doubled the life of that muffler by drilling a drain hole . That's one less future sale before that truck goes to the crusher. Good job!
The frame will rust through before it needs another one!
That exhaust will rot out in 12 months in PRNY.
@@mph5896 It's already a goner...
That truck will outlive that muffler at this rate; NAPA stands for "Needs A Part Again".
Sad but true
Great job Eric makes it look easy. Every time I do any work on an exhaust system I swear it is going to be the last time and then....
I have had 2 aftermarket exhausts on our '98 Grand Cherokee and both rattled where the tail pipe goes over the track bar. The original didn't do this so I could tell the aftermarket systems didn't fit as well. I finally solved this annoying issue by adding an aftermarket exhaust hanger to lift the system up just enough to keep it from hitting the track bar. Finally no rattles!
Eric just pumping out the SMA content ....
Good to watch the process.
Fine job as always 👏 👌
Nice install. Good tech tip about drilling a hole in the muffler and resonator.
If you drill a bunch of holes, you can let all the steam out. 😆
Love that the spare is jiggly!
Thanks Eric, Amazing a 15 year old Dodge in the PRNY not rusted out!!!
I once worked in a muffler factory. The challenge was to misbend the pipe as much as possible and still get it thru the inspection jig.
That. Explains. Everything.
A professional Catalytic converter thief would be in and out of there with a battery powered Sawzall in 5 minutes! LOL
Ya think?... XD
Seconds
5 minutes? Are they putting straight pipes in place nodays?
Well, it would depend on how fast the paramedics arrive around here.
in well under a minute.
good as always
Favorite tool in the shop flaming wrench set. Fits any bolt, screw, or lug, or lock never failed yet!
The old gas axe.

Impressive how clean those 07 Dakota is underneath for being a NY vehicle fluid Film Doing well on this vehicle Eric O @South Main Auto Repair LLC
So many times I watch your vids and often I see something before you point it out then I get ready to comment on it. Just like drilling the "pee hole" in the resonator. 99/100 times you get to fixing it in the video. Note to self: Always watch SMAR videos through to the end before commenting... also read the comments before commenting.
Good to see you drill the condensate drain pp hole, my cohorts always give me grief when I do that!
The title alone is worth a thumbs up!
Looking pretty cool with those torch glasses on.
Good to see a Yankee wielding the fire axe with vigor!!! I haven’t seen much good torching since moving down South from Chicagoland!! Keep it up!!!
The spare tire hanging precariously💯
Just needs snugged up, but I had a cable break when I snugged mine up once.
@@dustintunis9347 Being the Republic of NYS, it's rusted so may not be snugged up now, but it all depends on how soon it was used to replace a punctured tire.
@@johnhpalmer6098 Agree
@@dustintunis9347 If it is so simple, just DO IT Already.
I slathered grease all over my spare tire hanger when I had a pickup. Saved me more than once. I have seen spares get "frozen" to the frame with a rusted solid hanger mechanism.
Just did a 06 4.7 dakota, from the manifolds back, in my driveway, to be honest was the easiest exhaust replace I have done
I like to drill a small pee hole in the lowest areas of the muffler/resonator.
They last quite a bit longer.
Always told my customers when I sold parts (walker mainly) to follow that rule.
Good job Eric!
:-)
Hey Eric enjoy your videos
hi im ozzy, i to love this guys videos
When I was teaching I had a person want me to try to fix their vehicle. It was at a shop and they spent a lot of the guys money trying to fix the car. At times it would not start and they had replaced ignition components and then told the guy it was the timing chain. I got it with it torn apart. Front disassembled, intake off. Had to put it together to diagnose. Put it together , ran great . parked it outside overnight in Wyoming in ten degree weather . It would not start. Pushed back inside for the day , started and ran just fine. Lifted it on a hoist and drilled a hole in the muffler. Drained 4 or 5 quarts out of the muffler. It had so much water in it it would freeze when it got below zero preventing it from running. the drain holes are definitely important not just to make the last longer.
Oxy acetylene, the multitool of the rust belt!Happy holidays to the O family
Fluid Film to keep your truck young - and likewise: flared groovy trousers for Mrs. O. :-) Love it!
That torch cutting music montage is on 🔥
Mighty fine bride🎅🏻🎄😎💪🍑🍒⚙️🧰
'Not quite 8:30 and we've already busted out the torches...'. Smoke wrench solves a LOT of time issues! ;)
Nice, neat job!
13:49 Snow tires!! I put a set on my 4x4 XJ Cherokee, makes a world of difference. Got mine on a second set of wheels I got the on the Craigslist a few years back.
Mrs. O keeps you booked up to keep you and Josh out of trouble.
I am not a mechanic but watch an SMA video every day! Music today??
HI ERIC,always watch your vids, and i just had a thought when you where using your torch.I used to do a lot of tig, mig and brazing in my job and can suggest if you DON"T have spark arresters on you oxy and acetilin hoses ,get some, they may save you life.they're not to much maybe 50 bucks for both .Your welding supplier has them.just a tip,i couldn't tell but you might already have them at your tank gauges.good vids, keep on trucking.
Well that was fun. Thanks!
I loved the "elevator music" while you were using the torch +1 Like The lyrics are "Yeah, yeah, I'm getting things done / watch out for that red-hot lava / Yeah. yeah I'm cutting things off / Watch out for that muffler hanging by a thread, yeah!
It sure looked like that spare tire had to much play in it!That weep hole was a nice touch!
I noticed the same thing with that spare... perhaps Eric loosened it up to get the resonator in there? Not sure...
@@marksimonds13 The mechanisms all break. Mine's a lot worse, and the tire still won't come off. If I need the spare, I'll have to cut the cable.
The spare tire hanger had probably been seized up and/or broken for the last 14 years.
The reason I lower the spare each spring and lube the mechanism . Still works after 14 years.
Those are just spare parts. You can just cut them off. LMAO! Mrs Tizzo's son did this on his Subaru (on purpose)! Hahahaha. He said it would make it sound good. Kids these days.... they know way more than the team of engineers that designed the vehicle.
You made our week last night! Thank you for that! I hope we did and continue to drive more people to your channel. It's worth the sub for everyone!
