Out of all of the anti-slice advice out there, this made more sense to me than any of the other so-called "slice fixes." Thanks, MSG!
I am so glad I found your channel. Went from 100's to 80's in no time last year, this year I have turned in a 69 and a 71. The number one thought I have going into changes is you are basically at day 1 again, and just stay persistent, and practice more than you play.
Sure, Jan..
Lololol. Unless you took time off from the game saying scores went 100’s to shooting 69, 71 is laughable
@andycobb3555 I'm in a decent position in life and get to play 3 days a week and practice the other 4 (self employed), I did play in high school, went to the military and started back last year. If you have the time to practice it's not so laughable eh. That's why weekend hackers never get better.
@@the_hunterjay6261way to let em know 👏🏼
@@the_hunterjay6261I’m trying to work on my game currently. I have barely started up, and I’m currently 110+. Pretty laughable, but I’m being real. I want to keep improving!
Matt, great demonstration of what should be a simple concept, thanks!
Good stuff, Matt, thanks! I like your drill to get the feel of shallowing the club.
I like what Brian Sparks, "Easiest Swing", stated about the golf grip. Don't call it "gripping" the golf club! Brian calls it "holding" the golf club which lessens the possibility of over producing tightness in the hands, arms, and shoulders.
So I am working on fixing my right hand grip. I don't slice it usually but sometimes I hook it and my swing looks wack with it across the line at the top because of a hand issue (last two fingers are little numb and come off of the grip). But that thing you did where you bring the club back with the left hand and then bring your right hand to the grip, works pretty good. Feels a bit weird still but it helped a bunch with getting it closer to the right spot. I just got to trust it now. Thanks Matt!
Great tips and advice. Thanks
Not seen anybody explain keeping the lower base of your palm vs thumb pad on top....great advice thanks Matt!
Thank you for a great swing lesson
super helpful!
Great video as usual. Top stuff, thanks!
I have a grip attachment and a "Hanger" working on grip and plane at the same time. I grew up using a baseball, both thumbs directly at the clubhead grip. Trying to break the habit. Good information
Great demonstration Matt.
Love this video especially the drill which I will try as soon as the rain stops here in Louisiana. Do you have any recommendations for heel strikes? That seems to be my biggest problem
Thanks for this video. I’ve had my driver under the wrong “Front pad” can’t wait to go to the range and try this.
I’m 37 years old and just getting into golfing. I gotta say, your videos are very useful to me because I don’t know what I’m doing quite yet.
That makes two of us. I’m glad I stumbled upon this guy lol. I suck right now because I have no idea what to do - until this video. Made more sense to me than all the other ones out there,
Great vid Matt! Could you do one on stance?
Good stuff as always
Great video matt. Do you have anything for low point control. You know hitting ball then turf. Maybe weight shifting or a drill?
Will not find a better video on grip than this one. It is the only one that shows up close how your hands, especially the lead hand, should go on the club. My error is I get sloppy and the grip slips into the middle of my lead hand instead of up against the back pad. It is amazing what a difference it makes to fix that. Bye, bye two-way miss. In my opinion, over the top comes from trail hand but spraying the ball is more from a sloppy lead hand grip. Well done on this video. Critical fundamentals covered.
awesome video !!!
Matt, please do a video regarding the grips on those clubs. Are they the Golf Pride Plus 4?
Great video , can you give me any possible causes that would cause my trail grip hand to get a gap in it about at the tip of my back swing
I commited to my grip this year. I had been playing a little too strong Rt hand and now I have a lot less snap at impact. Less distance. I'm going to look and see if I've over corrected.
I started lining up with the ball outside of my left foot seems where I level my swing out it goes straight now maybe a little low line drive type hits
That was pretty good. Hard to tell sitting in my chair at work but im struggling so far this year and i see some things here im doing wrong
I use the exact grip you use. The pinky overlap(varden grip, I believe). I feel the most control and versatility with this grip. I used to tuck the right pinky in between the left pinky and ring finger. That feels terrible to me now.
Your drives look effortless. 10/10
My biggest issue with grip is just not checking it enough. I just did this recently actually, trying to work out what in my swing is causing unwanted draws or pull. I finally thought go back to basics, and checked my grip and that was it. My granddad always told me, go back to basics, when you feel off. Heck the old man knew something!
Nice duck hook
I like the hack motion as writs get short shrift, but they are critically important.
wrists
I try to get the feeling of the driver head dropping at top of swing to get same results. Works for me most of the time, along with the grip being correct.
I like this channel, but I have that "bad" grip and I'm 90-100 mph swing speed as a very amature golfer. Now I know he can hit 320 and I can only hit 280. I have learned hands and golf swings are not unanimous and I think its important for golf youtubers to understand those differences before they "preach what's bad". Most popular youtubers are neutral/neutral or strong/neutral and other less popular grip types have different swing types to compensate.
This is why I like Eric Cogorno videos as he often says in a lot of his videos if your grip is stronger or weaker these are the changes to make for these exercises.
MSG I got inside and started using different muscles at 66 and have found the drop recently and I wish I had felt this many years ago. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt so much now, lol
I also found, taking my trail hand too far under, created an inside wrist rolling take away that was killer to my game.
Been wondering why I’ve played like crap the last year and a half… all three points have been my downfall lol can’t wait to get out and fix it
What size grips do you use.
Matt Awesome
I do the first one to try to get the inner elbow of the trail arm facing outwards
What is the company that you use to comment on your videos? Also, some really good golfers have a really strong grip (right hand under). Most people won’t teach someone to have a super strong grip, but I know scratch and better golfers with both hands strong. They also can swing 115-120mph. The over the top swing is a problem though.
Funny…..changing the grip, for most golfers, is the biggest adjustment because of the feel. Just have to trust it
interesting how multiple swing coaches and pros say a strong grip is very good. gotta match your swing mechanics to the grip one is not wrong or right.
Plum straight down on top of the shelf causes forearm tension
I lock my right pinky finger and left index finger good or no good
ive been told my grip is weak, but when i grip it more strong, it feels awful.. advice?
i see; little chips... ill have to do that into my net
You’re the best but why am I pulling my iron shots! Help!!
감사합니다.
❤ very informative video for the majority of golfers 🏌🏻……
If this video, or this channel actually helped you, I would suggest donating or sending a little money his way. I think it's only fair. I'm going to try these myself, and if it helps, I will be venmoing.
Sorry Matt, but those “miss hits” look purposeful lol
I just turned 102 I can't wait to get out there and die on a par 3
Sub’d
Hockey players do that hand under stuff. That's how you hit a slapshot
I do all these mistakes at the same time ☹️
This guy looks like sneaky pete
You have big meaty fingers for such a small guy. Kinda like Arnold Palmer. Your hands look natural on the club. I wish my grip looked like that!
#gripdaddy #ripdaddy #dipdaddy #flipdaddy 💀
If you’re playing fetch and not golf, don’t try to “fix” your swing. Erase it from your mind and copy this. After 25 aggravating years of off and on trial and huge error, I stopped trying to thing. Setup correct grip, jello wrists, left arm straight and Ben Hogan right elbow. Do it 250 times on camera so you can see that you are copying the advice not engineering more pain.
If never had more fun with a sport than my last 6 weeks of golf watching MSG and a couple others.
10 handicap and returned the hack motion as it was dog sh*t. It just didn't work
you sound like heath ledgers joker
How did you milk this into almost 13 minutes. Not even gonna try. No reason to bla bla that long
Are you gona cry about it?
Boring presentation toooo long
you talk to much
Ben Hogan used the right hand under with Irons only for low and punch shots ,with ball back in your stance. It's funny how it works. I do it. I think Hogan knew what he was talking about. Most amateurs don't have a clue.
