Yesterday I tried your tip of setting up like I'm going to hit it off the toe about 1-2 inches behind the ball. The results were staggering. I'm a single digit and never thought of this in my 5 decades of playing. I was astounded by the results. I didn't have to change anything. After four holes my confidence began to soar along with my drives. Thank you so very much.
Thoughts on this technique with a 3-wood off the tee?
@@mjklsnydersame thing happens
I have to reply to my own comment from 9 days ago. I have played 4 times since then and have never been this consistent off the tee. My confidence is high on my drives and that same confidence carries over to the rest of my game. I'm having a great time. Golf is always fun, but now it's even more fun! I'm really glad I found your video, thank you.
Yeah sure you did🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hit a drive 440 yesterday. I found that measuring my drives in feet instead of yards did more to increase my distance than anything i could do with a club.
Hahaha
😂😂😂
Amazing! 💪💪💪🏌️♂️😊
😂😂😂😂😂
We should do a video on it.
Also might work to say inches instead of feet on the green. “I rarely miss from 36 (inches) and in.”
I missed 3 putts for birdie today but they were all around 127 though.
Great logical explanation of the errors most amateurs have in their driving technique....many thanks
Excellent tips!
Great lesson! Thank you!
I'm a 3 hcap and have been struggling a bit of the tee of late with pulls and pushes and a general malaise off the tee. I watched this vid and put the driver aim toe setup in practice today around 18 holes. Quite simply, even when I thought I previously was catching it well, I was wrong. This tip has probably added a straight 30-40 yards and given me so much confidence off the tee. It WORKS!! Thanks Alex :)
Well done indeed! Very happy to hear this and thanks for coming back to share. It works wonders for the majority of golfers if they give it a chance 💪👍
Hey Thank you that was the best education on golf that I had ever had on CZcams well done sir by just listening to you made me want to go out and try it and it was so easy to copy well done and it works
Thank You ! This is among the most relevant golf clips I've seen and most simply put. I'm really looking forward to more clips.
Thank you. I can’t wait to get on the range and try out these tips. They are probably so basic that I never knew them lol. Especially how the driver is made and meant to be hit with aerodynamics.
Thank you so much !!
Happy to help and that’s what we aim to do :) 🏌️♂️👍⛳️🏆
Very nice video! One thing that helped me was keeping my head still. I noticed my head was moving forward on the downswing so I now think about keeping my head back at impact and it has helped me strike the ball purer. Thanks for the instruction!
You are excellent at describing subtle moves in the swing that make a huge difference if mastered. Thanks for the content.
That’s very kind of you and it’s much appreciated. 💪🏌️♂️
I began taking golf more seriously just a year ago. I began taking lessons, practicing multiple times a week and invested in my equipment. And of all the tips and techniques I learned, perhaps the most valuable was what Alex mentions at the beginning of this video, when he talks about where on the face of the driver is impact happening. I used foot spray to observe my strikes in practice and also clean my clubs between rounds and practice sessions, so I can see each impact more clearly. I've gone from a guy who was happy to break 100, to shooting in the 78-85 range consistently in less than one calendar year. I've done a lot of other things, I've become a much better putter for example, but I've also added 30-40 yards to my drives and hitting it in the sweet spot 95+% of the time is a big reason for my improvement!
Well done indeed! It’s a bonkers game and will always keep you on your toes as it were. But principles and simple tactics that stick work. Very glad to hear this helped you with the driver and and face and how the wrists control the face are huge. 👍💪🏌️♂️🤮
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf Absolutely it did, keep up the awesome work!
any putting improvement recommendations?
😊
The simple tips worked for me! Straighter and longer drives. Especially the thumbs up drill. Thank you!
Thank you Alex. I saw your video this morning. Played a game today and put your tips in practice. Worked wonderfully from the first tee. Thank you
Delighted to hear that! Exactly the goal. Keep at it!👍⛳️
Excellent well done! 👍🏌️♂️
Great attitude and mentoring tone.
Sharp into the decisive aspects. Thanks much
PeterfromBerea
I am glad that I decided to check out your videos. Excellent Instruction. Easily understood!
Welcome aboard! 👍🏌️♂️
Countless lessons and CZcams videos and yet still I had no control or consistency with my driver.
Put all 3 of these tips into practice last night and it was like a lightbulb went off!
The thumbs up swing thought is the missing piece for me.
I was so busy trying to keep my lead wrist flat I wasn’t hinging my wrist in the backswing.
Drive after drive I felt in complete control of my driver.
Thank you so much!!

Well done indeed! That’s so great to hear and I’m glad you gave them a test and that the thumbs up got you moving how you want.
Keep at it 🏌️♂️💪
Awesome thank you PXG
Thanks Alex for all your golf tips. I will try your 3 tips today at the range.
Saw this video last night. Tried it today in the ranger, the two thumbs up tip is incredible, gained 15-20 yards immediately. Balls were much more straight and more center of club faces. Thank you!
Excellent well done 💪🏌️♂️ it’s a great feel and has a specific purpose
Well presented; thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
The added visual of what not to do in the background at the 8:00 mark is the real genius of this video.
Ha! Never noticed that! Well spotted :) 👍🏌️♂️
3 awesome tips!! #1 is going to be a gamechanger for me.
You got this :) 💪🏌️♂️
Great tips, I have a new driver and had the loft set as high as it could go.I was hitting the the ball very high but no distance.I have set it back to normal and noticed I had hit some off the heel. I will try and set up like you said it should help center the ball on the club.
The the thumbs up is one I never heard of but will try it. Thanks!
Thank you for this!
My pleasure!🏌️♂️
I come back to this video all the time. The thumbs up concept fixed my driver pop up issue when nothing else would and made me a better driver. Thank you
Great explanation thank you
You are welcome! And hope the quick alterations help
Totally makes sense , I'll definetily try this thk u !
Love your explanations of things. They can't be improved on.
Glad you think so and much appreciated. Will always keep trying to improve though :)
I just found your channel. The greatest thing about it was that you did not spend 2/3 of your time promoting yourself or shooting the breeze. It was all tips. They are useful and I look forward to seeing more of the advice from your channel.👍👍👍
Glad you’re with us 👍🏌️♂️
Excellent tips 👍
Glad you like them! 🏌️♂️⛳️💪
Amazing, I tried this drill yesterday and I missed only 1 fairway out of 14 !!!! I shot a gross score of 75... Brilliant !!!!
Possibly your best video yet!!
Why thank you kindly much appreciated and hope it helps you smash it! 💪🏌️♂️
This is as you know brilliant setup info!
Why thanks and hope it helps
easy to learn....many thx
great advice

This video has just earned my subscription. 👍🏼👍🏼
Glad to hear it and welcome!
Fantastic!
Thank you! Cheers!
I love these three drills. Setup off center/toe is absolutely crucial. Club oems really do us a disservice by placing a center aim point on the top of the club. I've blacked mine out and placed a small dot at center/toe just for that reason.
Absolutely and keep at it! Cheers 👍🏌️♂️
Did this in comp today hit every fairway , definitely straighter and longer . Can improve on distance no doubt but very happy with tips 👍
Nice work! Well done and keep at it
Golf is much better when playing for accuracy rather than distance. Great video.
I have to admit i was a skeptic of our advice but having struggled with hitting the driver straight and far I was willing to try anything. I went out yesterday and the 1st hole i hit my driver and lo and behold I had the same results as before. Hole 2 same results. On the 3rd I focused more on the setup and made sure to keep the thumbs up and what do you know, I hit it straight and far. I hit it 270. Hole 4 (par 5) setup, stance, thumbs up. Oh my another drive of about 280. I haven't hit two drives that straight and far all season. Another par 5 on the 7th, WTH... another straight drive almost 290? I'm 58 and was hitting 200/220 all season with an occasional 250. Now I need to make sure I repeat these tips every time I play, but I can't thank you enough for the simple tips.
Well done indeed! 👍💪🏌️♂️🏆 I’m delighted to hear that and thanks for sharing your results with us. Glad to have nudged you on the right direction but it was you that applied it. Keep at it 💪🏌️♂️
Love it ❤
🏌️♂️👍💪🏆
Thanks
Thank you kindly and hope this helps you off the tee! 🏌️♂️💪
Im just finding my driver swing. This is perfect timing to polish it off
Great tips helped a lot thanks
Glad to hear it!
thanks mate
New sub here can’t wait to try these tips.
Thanks for subbing and welcome! 🏌️♂️👍

Great video but background music is a bit distracting...
Noted :)

Superb
Thanks 🤗
Alex, I like the thumbs up concept on your driver tip - John
Glad it was helpful! It’s a good one 💪🏌️♂️
Tried your tips this morning. Improved ball striking resulted in an extra 20 yards off the tee. Many thanks.
I tried the three points with my 3 wood, mama mia …. 240 yards with a slight draw, I enjoyed the game, thanks chief for the tips.
Nice work and keep it up! 💪🏌️♂️⛳️
Driver is KILLING me right now, especially keeping in play. Have such a HARD time getting weight to front side and not hanging back. Great vid👍
This should help you get through too. Try opening stance a hair or flare lead foot out
Thanks!
Much appreciated thank you kindly and hope this and others help 👍🏌🏽
Great tips. When you spoke about club head an inch behind the ball etc, the camera angle should have been from the side rather than behind?
I hit driver well because I swing smoothly and don't try to blast it off the earth 🌏 🚀 Great advice once again 👏🏼
Boom!
jeez that first tip made such an improvement on the control of my drive. thank you
That’s great to hear! Keeping g to just one can often be enough
I’m gonna give this a go.
I can hit a iron no worries but can not hit my driver for the life of me 😢 I’ll be back in a few days with an update on how I think I’m going with it.
TIA..
Great video, could you do a video on width of stance please, I think the width of stance is a lot of players problems including mine
We have some that cover that. Look at the driver vs iron video. Gives a way to find your perfect set up width
@TheArtofSimpleGolf OK mate, have you got a link to the video for me please
This is my 3rd time commenting on this, I feel I had to say thanks again for saving my game, my Driver has been in the bag for weeks unused. Today I shot 8 better than my handicap purely because I can get the ball away now. I am also getting 240 carry in 1 degree weather.
That’s wonderful and much appreciated. You’ve done the work as well as put it in play. All I did was nudge you in the right direction 👍🏌🏽
Did you just say you're golfing when it's 1 degree outside??
Ok I watched this 8days ago and I must say my drives are definitely better.
Yesterday 240m was my best drive but I also still duffed some.
Just need some consistency now
You got this!
best tip ever
🏌️♂️👍
Agree back ground music needs lowered a great deal or eliminated
you, sir, are a savant of youtube golf instruction.
Will the thumbs up approach work well with fairway woods and possibly irons
Yes it can. Depends on what your flight shape is. If push cuts and early extension it can help a great deal. Try it out! 💪🏌️♂️
If you address the ball with the driver elevated in the center, drop it to the ground it will natural fall where it is supposed to be. --Slightly towards the toe. Give it a try
💪🏌️♂️
Agreed... hover sweet spot , exhale and allow driver to drop down and back a bit. It will be well inside the ball and hopefully end up at Driver low point.
The exhale relaxes the body and the toe setup will be compensated by the swing force straightening and lengthening the arm club unit to provide a centred upward strike.
Thanks Alex - excellent. Just to be clear, is driver the only full shot we don't shift body weight fwd to 'post' over lead leg at/after impact?
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate your support. To answer your question, the driver is indeed one of the shots where you don't necessarily have to shift your body weight fully forward. It's all about finding the right balance and technique for each shot. But driver still shifts but often the feelling iof posting back and around helps
Best was the last tip
Feet and knee together
Can I do this with Irons to stay behind ball well after hit/ swing
Yes indeed you can. But more weight distribution on lead leg at set up
Can you do thumbs up with the irons ? will it work the same?
It can yes if you have a tendency to early extend or get handle too high at impact. Test it
Definitely helped me with my irons as well.
Great vids for which thanks... but can you consider dropping the jazz music as its distracting. Thanks
🤦🏻♂️😂🏌️♂️👍
Alex, great tips! Question: would you recommend thumbs up with irons as well in the downswing through impact?
Maybe It depends on your strikes. If you push and cut irons mostly. Or early extend it can do wonders. Test it out for sure !
I’m the heeler hitter. This is great
🏌️♂️👍💪
Watched this video, did exactly what the man said and instantly added 30 yards to my drives and 20 to my fairway woods. Can’t thank the man enough.
Great novice techniques. Nice video
Glad you liked it!🏌️♂️👍
Lower hands, I like it !
👍🏌️♂️
I only looked at the thumbnail and I knew, straight away, what power leak you are referring to. I can confirm that I picked up at least 30 yards by not having the tip of my finger on the ball, at address.
😝🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🏌️♂️👍
I had trouble with my driver all day yesterday. My warm up was fine. I'm going to concentrate on these tips,I've known them and for some reason, I didn't apply them during the round🤔
Let us know how it goes 🏌️♂️👍
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf I went out yesterday, 98% hitting it dead center. Thank you for the reminder!
Do we have thumbs up for irons too?
Should my irons be pointed in the same direction with the toe up ?
Not so much but if you have a tendency to stand up through impact it can help for sure. Test it out:)
@@TheArtofSimpleGolf Thank you. Your videos are great and helped me get out of 90s and into the 80s.
When you did the DOD, did you address the ball the same as you did off the tee?
Nope. Center
Wow tired this on the course and oh man. Worked like a charm. I hit the ball straight more often amd further.
May try the toe trick for my fairway woods
Glad to hear it and well done for giving this a test out. Be wary with 3 wood though as we don’t hit up on it like a driver. But… test it as it may help your path if needed. 🏌️♂️👍
These tips might help if you are slicing….but my issue is hitting draw hooks😮
Feel like you don’t stall the body and get through with core
Ok, so I watched your video yesterday, went to range today and positioned my ball at toe…….instantly straightened out my driver, could not believe it, thank you
It’s almost annoying g when things like that happen lol! 🏌️♂️👍
I have really bad slice in my drive and i connot figure out why, im considering pay for lessons its that bad haha
Same with thumbs on irons?
It depends I’m afraid. Best thing is if you have a tendency to stand up through impact it can help for sure. Test it out:)
that driver off the deck...NOICE
🏌️♂️👍💪⛳️
This is a major problem with me!
Well I hope this alleviates:)
I like the music in the video, if it was louder then it would totally block your voice out
🏌️♂️👍
This would take some getting use too. Currently the only way I can hit my driver is by setup the face completely past the ball and turned closed about 45 degrees.. 275ish yards and a slight draw but it seems to work ok for now
That sounds like a big compensation for opening the face too much in swing. Work on wrist move to turn the club head over
❤❤❤
🏌️♂️👍
That driver off the deck tho!
I have come to believe that a lot of the flaws us amateurs have comes down to picking the right heel off the ground before we hit the ball.
👍👍👍
💪🏌️♂️
Dam swinging in to out it just makes me duck hook
Love the advice, sir. Hate the music. Can’t hear you clearly, especially with hearing aids.
I’m sorry about that. Hopefully the subtitles can help
Duck hook lessons
Thats my problem, I attack the ball on the downswing
Hope this helps.
Love it but hate the background musaack
Sorry. THis was a slight error. Thanks for the feedback.
