Most likely yes.
@Motorcarnut
It doesn't vibrate like my primary car did, which got bad going from vibrating at high speeds (55-65) to low speeds (35-45mph) eventually and gradually. Replaced drivers side cv axle and all is good.
On my old car (07 Saturn Ion-2 2.2) it's just a slight click/faint thump. No vibration at all. Think I should replace them or I got a while?
@adictiveadictive you should be good for a while just keep an eye on them and I wouldn’t go on any long trips before changing them.
2010 jeep grand Cherokee limited replaced both cv axles and still getting some clicking every now and then, drives great no grinding
Is this expensive to fix or change?
If it’s the axles depends on who does it. DIY and save money.
I have very strong sound it doesn’t matter which direction I drive
From what you’re describing it can be anything, need more info or take a video
@@Motorcarnut I have video how can I send it
@@undertaker9956 post it to your channel I’ll take a look
@@Motorcarnut ok gonna do it right now
Mines a small clicking noise will it still be that?
Yes, it can be just starting.
For me, it's more like a rattling.
I have a video on tracking down rattling, check it out
What if it clicks when you change the gears from R to D??
Could be a bad engine mount.
engine mount? ha yeah right, U-joints most likely
Could be that too. Don’t have the vehicle in front of me to tell them exactly what’s the problem.
Excellent video man
Thanks you! Really appreciate the comment!
So I had no clicking, more of a clunk. Swapped CV axles, now I hear a low click sound but only when steering wheel is turned, also had all my tie rod ends replaced as well.
Was the cvjoint new , used ir re manufactured?
I hear one click when fully turning the wheel, either left or right turn.
Still can be the axle or something in steering.
@Motorcarnut I recently tightened down the sway bar brackets and changed the sway bar links in my car. That's when this stuff started happening. Maybe I frigged some of that up and that's why?
@Archfiend90210 possibly? It’s in that area so shouldn’t be too hard to find it
How much is it to change
$75 to $250
What if it is just on pop when I run left
Still can be axle
Mine seems like the "clicking" worsens when I put it in 4 wheel drive...
Can be the transfer case
@Motorcarnut gosh I hope not...gonna replace the CV / shaft anyways (next payday lol) and report back what I find
@charlesalready Me too, but it’s gets worse with 4wd engaged, I’d think it would be less with it engaged.
Clicking noise ?? Mines does a loud bang everytime i make a u-turn and hit the gas..
Can be a lot of things including the transmission, should have it checked soon.
@@Motorcarnut the sound comes from the left side of my front wheel.. i can hear it clearly
Maybe the wheel bearing
Same noise but no leak, what is it for me?
Can still be the axles but also check suspension and steering for play.
I just had a tire change due to a hit and run. Got my car back two days ago and now it's clicking randomly. I noticed it is during turns . Also there is a small puddle near that tire.
You have to make sure the transmission didn't get damaged in the hit and run
Brakes
About to replace my hubs and axles… ugh.
I know it’s not the best work to do but necessary.
@@Motorcarnut very true, I honestly need to replace my entire front suspension… but this is a good start.
In total I plan on replacing the hubs, axles, upper and lower control arms, pittman arm, swar bar links, and shocks.
@videos-for-friends The the front end will be nice and tight! And should last a long time after all that work.
About how much does Honda charge to replace this? 😢
My car makes a very loud ticking noise during a sharp turn and u turn on the driver side. Is there something specific that causes this?
Yes, probably the front cv Joint axle is failing.
You would have to ask them, depends on their hourly rate. Dealers are more expensive than indys but should be no more than $200 per axle.
@@Motorcarnut $200 an hour? Oh god lol I’m gonna try to find a mechanic. I know Honda is gonna kill my pockets smh. I’m just concerned it isn’t gonna be done correctly if I don’t go to Honda 🥴
@janaya36 that’s why I said try an independent shop, it’s an axle not too hard to do, you can watch some of my videos on axle removal and do it yourself if you’re handy.
Mine does this only when its cold.
Still can be the axles, check boots make sure there is no grease coming out of them
@@Motorcarnut it definitely is. The boot has a hole.
@aricv1295 that’s your problem! Got to replace the axle not the boot it’s too late.
Click or pop there is a difference
Clicking
I changed mine & it’s still clicking
Should be diagnosed by local mechanic, could be the wheel bearings, something simple like dust shield rubbing or transmission.
Did you figure out what it was ? Changed mine twice & still clicking.
When you say a clicking noise? Could it sound like a knocking Noise also.
If it were bad enough, probably
@@Motorcarnuti think its the cv joint cuz they said the boot was alittle separated when i got my brakes and rotors done. After i got it dont i start hearing this light knocking type noise when i turn right mainly
Yes they are probably bad.
@Motorcarnut okay thanks I'll go ahead and let the shop change my cvs on both sides
No problem.
If its a 2.4 theta engine in that Kia, the CV is the least of your problem
Stay on topic, video is not about the engine
I have a Chevy Malibu 2005. It makes a grinding clicking noise only when I turn right or do a u-turn also makes a squeaking noise whenever I go over a hump or railroad tracks. When I turn left it doesn’t make that noise.
It's probably one of the cv joint axles going bad, look at the boots and see it you see wet grease of ripping and the squeak is probably one of the suspension parts that are worn.
Yoo for me it’s the exact opposite any solutions????
Thank you!
You're welcome!
