    Great video Allam, your videos have saved me so much time, I send them to volunteers to learn the X32.
    I wanna submit a correction to this video - in the out 1-16 tab of the Routing page, the options are actually where the console taps the audio signal sent to the outputs. so when you set out 11-12 to bus 11-12 post fader, you're telling the console to send that stereo signal post-fader to output 11-12 on your console/snake. To get the channels to go to the bus post-fader, select the first channel, go to the sends tab, and with global changes on, select post-fader on the stream bus. Hope this makes sense and could help a reader! Thanks sir!!

      Are you saying perhaps it would be better if the 11-12 bus was set in routing as pre-fader then?

    • @christophercortes9152

      @@AndrewPineiderMusic I'm not necessarily saying pre or post fader outputs are better, I think that depends on the engineer's preference and the situation. Just trying to say that the routing page is for, among other things, selecting where the physical output on a console or snake will tap the signal of the bus.

    We use soundgrid native those days, but still want to have a good quality audio feed out to PC as we cannot use the x-usb (or x-live). So we bought a interface (202hd) and use the aux out to it and from there the usb in PC. Same way we do for PC to mixer, usb from pc to interface and interface in aux in. This solves few issues also, as not always the pc is close to the mixer, so using xlr/ts cables . One note tho....use good quality cables. Also you can monitor off the interface..(only if not using plugins as Ozone, then you need to monitor of streaming software) . Nice video as always.

    It might be worth mentioning that the USB card is an option. If using someone else's X-32, it may or may not have it installed. (There are other types of cards available.) In those cases, would need to use an outboard USB interface feeding and being fed by analog outputs built in the same way. Good to confirm in advance if possible. FWIW

    • @AllamHouse
      @AllamHouse  Před 10 měsíci

      Each location might be slightly different and I also might be misunderstanding your statement, but the X32 comes stock with the X-USB card on the back of the console (the first few years did have a X-UF card and glass buttons, but those are mostly out of commission now). Some have upgraded to the X-Live card which offers the same USB functionality, but also includes SD Card multitrack recording. This X-Live card comes stock installed on the Midas M32. Some have upgraded even further to a X-WSG or Dante card and in those cases you will not be able to interact with normal USB as you stated, but those are pretty specific cases.

    Hey Dave, thanks for all of the great videos! I have a question for you. we are using an X32 for front-of-house sound with 2 stage boxes in series. We would like to take the signal from the main console to an additional console (X32 mini) to mix the streaming sound separately. Can I send 12 channels through the USB out?

    • @AllamHouse
      @AllamHouse  Před rokem +1

      There are two different recommended approaches you could take…
      1) Send audio across USB to a computer that is running a DAW and mix your broadcast in the computer. You can then send it back to your main console and out to your livestream however you are doing that right now. This video discusses that setup. czcams.com/video/KpZpsO_l4Qs/video.htmlsi=nMyIsL56UFpSuOjc
      2) Setup your main console as the master and your “mini” (most likely the X32 Compact) as the slave. You would connect AES50B from master to AES50A on the slave. There are some settings that need to be done in the slave console and then you are up and running to be able to mix your broadcast mix on this secondary console.

    Hey Dave, your videos have helped me a lot as I just got an X32 Rack and am trying to set up a scenario where I can stream drums (mixed in the X32) into StreamLabs OBS. The one issue I'm having is that after routing my Mix Bus 11 & 12 to User Out 1 & 2, getting that signal into OBS. My Bus 11&12 (Stream L&R) channels are showing that they are picking up signal within X32 Edit. My computer audio sources show up as Out 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 1-8. None of which pick up signal when I change my Audio Output Capture source inside OBS. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    • @AllamHouse
      @AllamHouse  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m assuming you are on firmware V4.0 or newer since you mentioned the User Outs. When connected properly, X32 Edit will be a direct copy of the console and be a control surface for you. OBS (by default) will only pickup USB 1/2 so you want to make sure you have Routing > Card set so that User Out 1-8 are set for Card 1-8 allowing your desired. I’d to go out Card (USB) 1/2.

At this point you only need to do additional routing adjustments if you are sending this signal out the AUX outputs. The XLR and CARD outs should be set by default to send OUT 1/2 across their first two channels. I hope that helps.

However, I want our musicians to hear the podium mic in their in ears. I currently have a handheld and the preacher mic going into P16's (15 & 16) respectively. • @AllamHouse
      @AllamHouse  Před rokem +1

      You will need to use a BUS that gets routed into ch15 for the P16's. SInce this is for IEM's you will most likely want the BUS to be a Pre-Fader setup, send the desired level of each mic (usually unity) into the BUS. Make sure to remove the BUS from the Main Stereo LR BUS so it isn't heard in the house mix. Then go to Routing > P16 and set the source of channel 15 to be the selected BUS instead of the direct channel.

    I watched these training videos and none of them explain why the following occurred:
    1) I needed to reorganize all tracks, move things around.
    2) I did the moving around from the editor.
    3) I noticed that it automatically created a user 1 preset. I didn't select it, it did it on its own. There are no "user 1" options on the X32, and none of the training videos explain this. It is my opinion that this is not helpful if you don't explain how to take the "User 1" and insert that configuration into the main tracks 1 through 32. Again, no information on how to get it to transfer/copy to the mixer.
    4) I tried to do it a second time, and this time changed the order of the tracks from the 1-16 layer. I then synchronized the editor to transfer the settings to the mixer. The mixer never changed. I then de selected what I believed to be the 'safes" and stil nothing was transferred to from the editor to the main mixer.
    5) I saved the new tracks order to the Editor file, and loaded it onto the X32, and nothing of the new order was transferred.
    I did manage to get the tracks moved around, but I had to first copy them from 1-16, over to 17 to 32, delete everything from 1-16, and then move them where I wanted.
    In conclusion:
    I've gone over many hours of these X32 editor videos, and in my opinion, most of these people don't actually go through the motions of making these new settings work. I don't think most of these training videos are helping at all. If I made a training video on the X32 editor, I would have the integrity to go through the motions, all the way to the end, and not just talk about it.
    There is something extremely important that a user must do or the settings they modify will NOT be transferred.

      I appreciate the feedback and understand that there are ‘building blocks’ that might be assumed in making videos. I speak for all CZcamsrs that are putting out free content that it is not easy to make videos to cover topics and keep them inside of a watchable length.
      I’m terms of this video I made, it presupposes that you are connected to your console BEFORE making the changes so you can see them reflected on the board in real-time. Now, the benefit of X32-edit is that you can build a scene, save it in the software and at a later time, connect to the console and push the scene from ‘PC to Mixer’.
      Next, You mentioned Scene Safes and I will say that they are best used for theatrical performances. Most users will not need to use Scene Safes
      Finally, I do offer consulting if you need assistance in a one-on-one setting.

    What is the difference between setting an output (mixbus) in routing to post fader, and settings individual channels to post fader? Is this achieving the same thing? What if I set the bus to pre-fader and then set all the channels to post fader... would that accomplish the same thing? Is setting the routing to post fader just a quick way to make them all post fader on the channel sends? Kind of confused when it comes to these two. Say for instance, if I wanted to follow my mix mostly but in the house my drums are too live and so I have them very low (almost out) on the faders. However, in the live stream I need a lot more so I would need a pre-fader situation. Would I still set routing as post and then individually specify the drums as pre-fader? Or set it as pre-fader and then set all the other channels as post-fader? Thanks in advance

    • @AllamHouse
      @AllamHouse  Před 3 lety

      It is a confusing topic and one that might end up on the next “Ask Dave” video. What makes it more confusing is that is is different from X32-edit to the console which. Ow requires two explanations. 😂
      In X-32 Edit, the global change I made in the Routing > Outs tab was changing the actual output to be post-fader. This means if I raise or lower the MixBUS fader the volume to my stream will go up and down. (I inaccurately explained this in the video and was made aware in the comment section). To properly make the global change of the desired MixBUS to post fader, select an input, go to the Sends tab, on the left is a button with a world and when it is clicked the text changes to “changes affect all channels”. Then make tour desired change and it will impact all inputs for this MixBUS.

    Hi there! Thank you for this video. I had a question I was hoping you could help me with.
    We are using an x32 in our church and have our card out routed to local (1-32). The x32 is connected to our Mac via USB to send the individual channels to Adobe Audition for recording.
    Currently, we are using our Bus 11 & 12 for our live stream (post fader & post fader tap). We have it outputting to 2 XLRs that are connected to a Scarlet interface into the same computer we use for recording in Audition.
    Is there a way for me to use the same USB connection for both recording, and live stream? I've always thought the answer was no, and that we would need another interface (like Scarlet) for the live stream bus to be a 2nd input to our Mac. I might be misunderstanding, but you video makes it seam like you can do both over 1 connection.
    Could you help clarify for me? Thank you for all your help!

      The USB cable can send 32 tracks over to the computer at the same time. If you have 32 inputs you need to record (multitrack), then your current setup is the best way to do it. That being said, if you have 30 tracks or less you need to record, then you can send your stream across 1/2 and then everything else and it can work without needing the additional interface. This video here discusses that setup within the routing. czcams.com/video/Zb6ngDBuaDE/video.html

      @@AllamHouse yes but with the Dante card its not very sensitive because 8 am use network cable from the X32 then just out from the Dante out converter to mic/line input in Atem mini. (Ps: Footatep film&media are the same as me, just one private account and work account :)

      I’m not sure what you mean by a “Dante controller”. There is a Dante card you can purchase that goes in place of the X-USB card in the console to give you all of the I/o available on Dante. I also am not sure how you would use Fante to get audio into your ATEM.

    I have a Mac with Big Sur and cannot open x32 edit. Any help?

      You might try going to Midas website and download the Midas M32 Edit software. It looks like the last update was in April 2021 so it might be more readily updated than the Behringer version.

      Hey sir, I was having the same problem too about a month ago, here's what fixed it for me... it's worth a try. Open system preferences > security and privacy > in the general tab, click the button that says "open anyways". In the general tab, at the bottom it should say something along the lines of "X32 edit could not be opened because the developer is unidentified", clicking "open anyways" will bypass the apple security script that disallows you to open the app. Hope that helps, thanks!!

    Do you know anything about livestreaming with Dante network?

      I don't personally use DANTE, but I do know you have to have the software installed on each machine that you plan to interact with DANTE.
