Been using that Precision Limiter for a while. Great stuff! I’m going to try the EQ as well to see if that adds some extra punch and clarity.
    Thanks for the lesson!

This is pretty baller. I enjoy the art of sound design and the measure of scientific application to this video was perfect for that understanding. This is literally the solution to our stream mix loss of low end. Thanks!

I didn't know there is a limiter in fx section so I use the compressor to the max reduction and reacting super fast. I got great results but now I know this is the right way and im going to do it, thanks for all your videos, they are super useful :)

One thing I noticed when the volume was lower and the PL applied was that you could make out more of the high hat of the drum ins addition to the warmth of the bass. It was muddied when the volume was reduced and one the PL was applied, there was more definition to the high end of the drums and even the guitar was a little more define.
You could tell it was being compressed because it was ever so "quieter". but that is addressed by just adding more or less compressions, input, gain, channel volume etc.
    Great video

I’ve been using the clarity meter for a while now. Works great for levels. Only thing is the x32’s limiter will let overs thru so take ur ceiling to -4 and expect peaks around -2.9.

Thanks Drew. I hope to try this soon. What I've been doing is that my cam mix is routed from my FOH, it's only calm and nice when one person is speaking through the mic and then clips when the choir begins to sing. I've tried reducing the matrix but it also reduces the pastor's mic the same thing applies to my livestream. I don't want to be moving faders for my livestream. I'm expecting your feedback soon thanks

Hey Drew thanks for your awesome videos, you are a legend. I put the Precision Limiter on, but I'm getting dropouts of some instruments (the piano is fading in and out, and you can't hear the female vocalists, and the drums are buried too), and strange artifacts, which I guess are the pumping talked about. I saw this video from James Attaway on doing the compression in stages (bringing my mix into the matrix as a few Mix buses already compressed - ending up with a fairly flat mix for the Precision Limiter to work with) and I hope this improves things next week. It would be great if you could do a followup video, and feel free to use our church's content as a negative example! :). I've learned so much from you and still there's a way to go to get this right. I thought we weren't loud enough, but I realized I was overdoing it, and it was distorting, and then FB/CZcams turned me down again, so I started turning things down and it got clearer. Going to install that LUFS meter!

Hi Drew. Awesome page. So I'm doing sound for our church, it's my first time but I took on the challenge. I routed my pastor's monitors on on mixbus 1 and 2 but these 2 channels are now controlling my main volume. My sound is not getting loud enough when I increase my mains volume until I push the other 2. Where did I go wrong, please help.

Interesting Drew. I do have a couple of questions for you. I will explain the situation the best I can, and hopefully you will be able to respond, so this is going to be a little drawn out, but please bear with me. We do a live feed on U Tube and Face book each Sunday. We have our X32 set up in a way that allows us to have a mix for FOH and a separate mix for the live feed. We use the Reaper DAW for the live mix, and have an S16 for the first 16 channles and use a analog snake for 17-32, and by the way having volume issues on the live feed, I did check the LUFS levels allowed by Face Book, and U Tube (which is, I do believe, 16 for Face Book and 14 for U tube), and started using a limiter on the master track on Reaper and monitoring the volume with a LUFS meter. As we started doing this, experimenting with different things, we were always having issues with constantly changing inputs on Reaper to coincide with configurations on the X32 (i.e. channel 1 configed input 5, channel 2 configed input 3, channel 3 configed maybe input 10, depending on what input was used in the stage boxes for each Sunday. We tried to create a constant, but with several people unplugging and plugging into different inputs on the stage boxes, it became quite a hassle to keep up with changing the the inputs on the Reaper platform. So what our main media guy did, and how he figured this out I have know Idea, was set up the brain on the X32 to assign reaper with certain inputs regardless of what the inputs are on the X32. So what we have ended up with is the inputs on the X32 are 1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3, and 4 for 4, then at channel 5 on the X 32 we might use input 9, or input 7, or what ever input we may need for each given Sunday, for the simple reason that we have several different musicians that paly from week to week and they may stand in a different place from where the last one might of stood. Hope you are with me so far. So as it is Reaper is set up to recognize track1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3, and 4 for 4, then at track 5 on Reaper it goes to input 16, track 6 is input 17, trak 7 is in inp 18, 8 is inp19, 9 is inp 20, and from there out to track 20 the inputs are all over the map, but like I said Reaper recognizes that as a constant and we never have to change any inputs on Reaper. Just recently we added a mic kit for the drums, so instead of just using a 3 mic setup on the drums we know have the drums completely mic'd up. I have the kick, sn, tm1, tm2, tm3, and 2 OH's, starting with channel 17 on the X32, and track 18 on Reaper, and was able to use input 25-32 on both the X32 and the Reaper program because he (the media guy), left those inputs available for the drums knowing that would never change, so the kick is input 26, sn is 27, tm1 is 28, and so on and so forth for both the X32 and Reaper. Because of some volume issues with the drums we did some checking and determined that we have an issue with the analog snake, so we are in the process of adding the second S16 to complete the last 16 channels in digital. Now with all that being said my first question is, once we get the 2nd S16 connected and I have gone in and changed Local17-24 and local25-32 to ASE17-24 and ASE25-32, will Reaper still recognize input 25-32 as being available as it is now? And my second question is, do you have any idea how he (the media guy) assigned the the inputs in random order to the Reaper platform like he did so that Reaper sees them as a constant? Sorry about being so long winded, but I felt I needed to explain it in a way you could get the full grasp of what I am trying to get done once I get the other S16 hooked up. Also the gentlemen that was our media person is not with us at this time so and I need to get this figured out. Thank you for your time.
