- So here it is, my cover of Tool's new song "Pneuma" from their latest record "Fear Inoculum" and it's definitely become one of my favorite Tool songs!
By the time Tool released their previous record "10,000 days" I was only 4 years old and my favorite bands back then were Tenacious D and Saga :D
Tool has definitely become a very important band for me and their latest record has more than exceeded my high expectations!
With "Fear Inoculum" they have brought progressive-rock-music to the 21st century and have shown that you can kick Taylor Swift from number one of the album charts with a record that doesn't even contain one song shorter than 10 minutes :D
Anyway, I hope you like my cover of this masterpiece! If you do please leave a like and a comment and subscribe to my channel. It's really motivating reading all the nice comments under my other videos and seeing that you enjoy them!
Cheers, Janis
The video was shot and edited by the camera wizard Malte Suder!! If you dig awesome camera work do yourself a favor and check him out!!
For all the Gear-Nerds among you :
For all guitar parts I was using my Engl Invader II, second and fourth channel, an engl 212 cab loaded with Celestion V30s and my Gibson Les Paul Custom. On my board I had the EVH phase 90 which I occasionally kicked on and my TC Electronic Flashback delay for the verse parts. For micing I used a sure sm57 straight into Garage Band where I added some EQ, Compression and other effects here and there. If you have any questions just leave them in the comments and I'll make sure to answer them :) - Hudba
Listen up Tool Fans!! Tomorrow I'll be in Hamburg at my VERY FIRST Tool show and you can't imagine how excited I am! And since we're so close to 10,000 views (insane!!) you guys make sure to share this video like its going out of style and watch it at least 46&2 times every hour so we hit the magic mark in true Tool fashion= 10,000 views + 10,000 days ;)
Needless to say i'll try to get some stuff signed and probably get some show merchandise if I can! If anyone of you is there and recognizes me don't be shy, I'll be sitting U20 Row 4, seat 1!!
Cheers my friends!
Hells yeah my dude. It's awesome to see the next generation of Tool fans.

Na das will ich aber auch meinen...
Dude! Everything from synchronization, pick attack and articulation, tension control, timing and phrasing...just wow! Especially at your age. Nice job my man, well done🔥 👍🏼🤘🏼
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it! 🎸
impeccable timing, superb tone... job worthy of a VERY talented musician 🔥
Thank you so much! Really appreciate you watching! 🎸 cheers!
The best cover of this song by far. How do you only have 83 subscribers (84, I just subscribed) and only 1309 views? Nice LP Custom
Thank you so much Mark! Really glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for subscribing! :D I’m currently saving up money to buy my own camera equipment (my videos were filmed by a very good friend of mine)! Lots of cool guitar-related content is in planning! 😎
that last bridge breakdown is so fucking heavy and fun to play. 10 spirals out of 10 spirals. always out, never in.
Absolutely!!
This was super, such a smooth criminal. Been a huge Tool fan since they released Aenima and can't wait to see them in Poland next year. Keep it up young man!
Thank you Riku! Glad you enjoyed it! I’ll be seeing them in Hamburg next year too! I’m sooooo stoked I was able to get some tickets! They went so stupidly fast! I cannot wait to see them live and experience adams actual guitar tone in the flesh!!
just 1 word .......... PERFECTION
Thank you!! 🤘🏻🙏
This is immaculate
Thanks!
Ganz großes Kino !
Das ist kein einfaches Stück, beide Daumen hoch, weiter so, wir sehen uns in Wacken🤘🏻, da bin ich mir sicher!

Thank you for commenting Joshua!! 🤘🏻
Una maravilla de cover.
Muy preciso en todo, es muy difícil mantener la línea con esta canción, aún así lo lograste impecablemente.
Muchas gracias, Jorge! Me alegra que te guste!
One of the best tool performances I've ever seen, Great job, greetings from Colombia.

Hi Janis,
man that was awesome !
Thank you!! :)
Well done, dude!
There are some terrible Tool covers on CZcams (which is baffling: Adam’s guitar parts are for the most part quite straightforward), but yours is awesome.
Thank you and thanks for watching!! I appreciate that! :)
Great cover bro! 🤘
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Hast dich selbst wieder übertroffen! Einfach Stark!!!😍🤘🏻
Vielen Dank!☺️ freut mich dass es dir gefällt!
I'm watching this video and I'm asking if that LP is very beautiful or it's simply amazing; that sound it's perfect, just like the cover u did. Bravo 🤝
Thank you!! Glad u dig it!
holy shit this is good
Thank you!! :D
Well done young man!!

Thanks a lot! And yes definitely! The new album is amazing and I’d love to do another one! 🤘🏻🎸
@@JanisKlinnert looking forward to seeing your next video 🤘
Impressive. Very nice.
Thanks a lot Juan!
Nice playing and that's a beautiful Custom you've got there.
Thanks! Yeah I love that guitar!!
Maple neck LPs arent something I see a lot. I dig it. Love the block inlays.
@@MichaelEMJAYARE yeah they’re real unicorns! But totally awesome! Love that guitar!
spot on and more
Thank you!!
@@JanisKlinnert i love how you got the sound from the amp perfectly
anytime, gotta give credit where its due
@@GeorgeCoggins thanks! I’m really happy with the tone. The invader II does tool really well. Also loved how it sounded on my schism cover
@@JanisKlinnert ill have to check that and others out
Geile Gitarre, geiler amp und perfekt gespielt... Respekt!
Grüße aus Bremen 🤘
Danke danke!! Ja ich stimm dir zu! Die Kombi ist echt der Wahnsinn!
Beste Grüße aus Flensburg! ;)
Your likes to dislikes ratio tells everything that needs to be told !
Great Work Man !
Thanks a bunch Ashton!!
Wooooow🔥
🎸🙏
perfecto.
Gracias!
First of all, this is an excellent cover of an incredible song, by my favorite band of all time. Bravo!
Second - that's a stunningly beutiful Les Paul - what kind of wood is that fretboard?
Thank you! That’s a maple fretboard actually and a maple neck! Gibson did a very similar guitar in the late 70s and this is kind of a little homage to those „blonde beauties“. It’s a great guitar! Neck is awesome, looks amazing and the tone is absolutely crushing!
That was impressive as hell. Completely flawless for 12 full minutes, how do you even memorize that?
Thank you very much! I don’t actually know. I never had a technique how to memorize songs but knowing and loving a song before you learn it definitely helps!
Bad ass little dude
Thanks man!!
4:31👌👌👌
Thanks!
Adam Jones would be impressed. excellent
Thank you!! Let’s hope he’ll see it one day! :D
Goddamn dude.
Thanks a bunch🎸😎
🤘🖤

🤘🏻
10/10
Matej Cerveny thanks a lot! Glad you like it:)
👏👏👏👍
Danke!!
Dude !
:D thanks
Damn, that guitar is absolutely beautiful. Nothing tops a fucking Les Paul lol. I really like the video!
Thanks man! I absolutely love that thing! :D lps are tough to beat that’s for sure! Thanks for watching!
Supperb performance! Great work!! Would really appreciate your pedal settings. Thanks
Thanks a lot!! I only used the mxr evh phase 90 (at 10 'o clock-ish) and my tc electronic flashback on the lofi or tape setting (can't remember) at 114 bpm for the verses etc. Other than that just the Invader II on channel 2 and 4.
I thought I was listening to Tool when I closed my eyes.
Thank you very much!!
Amazing. Rock on kid.
Thank you!
@@JanisKlinnert It's all great, but the section that starts at 9:07 - badass.
moonshinin I 100% agree! So rad how the song opens up towards the end and gets real heavy!
@@JanisKlinnert That section through to the end is probably the peak of music. Nothing can top that for me. Adam's riff leading to the drums and bass wall of noise...oh man. And you fuckin nailed it :D
moonshinin yeah and it sounds inhumanly awesome on a good stereo! Wall of sound is the absolut Perfect Description for it! And again: thank you very much you’re too kind!
Hey good job there , how do you get that backtrack to play on ? any tips ? thanks mate.
Thank you! In this case I took some mids out of the original song in the logic EQ. But there are really good quality backing tracks everywhere on CZcams but mostly of very famous songs. Sometimes taking the isolated stems of the individual instruments and putting them in one logic session works too but they’re not always synced up. But if all that fails taking some mids out works fine too! :D
Awesome stuff!
What's that backing track by the way?
Thank you!! It’s the original song actually! Pretty impossible to get the actual guitar backing tracks from songs. I’ve recorded everything live so what you see is what you get and then tried to get as much of the original guitars out of the mix as possible by dipping the mids in the EQ in GarageBand a little bit. So most of the guitars you’re hearing are mine 🤘🏻
yeah...you are there.)
Thanks man! Also for a limited time only: the incredible chance to be subscriber no. 300! 😂
wow.
you must do a jam with Liam Bradford. he is a young man whom nailed the drums on this .so good that Danny Carey shared it.
Thank you!! I would love to!! Can you send me a link to his channel maybe? Been wanting to do some collaboration covers for a long time!
@@JanisKlinnert im not able on this device . but look up " pneuma drum cover by Liam Bradford" you tube. thats how i found. you have a serious gift. never let it go to your head you are miles above all else ive heard. believe it or not , the restraint and attention to timing is what you seem to have nailed along with solid instrument. i have and play a 1974 " Electra "
it is a Japanese made
" Les Paul "
i don't say knock off because it smokes most real Les Pauls ive played. but what you have is truly
a fine tuned rare guitar.
keep shreddin! you rock!
Kevin Freist I will! Thanks! And also thanks a lot for your kind words! I really appreciate you taking the time and writing such a thoughtful comment! Comments like yours really make my day! :) I heard very good things about those old electras! James hetfield traded his old sg for an Electra Flying V! So they Must be somewhat good! :D but I do love my les Paul! I still can’t quite fathom that I was able find such a rare guitar and even get a great deal on it!
3:22 😮
Awesome work!! What year is your Les Paul? Very nice
Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed it! It’s a 2011 led Paul custom maple VOS. It’s a special run they did back then which was reminiscent of the maple neck les Pauls from '76 etc.
mine differs in a few ways but visually pretty much the same.
I was thinking of doing a dedicated video of my Les Paul, what do you think?
@JanisKlinnert great idea Janis, keep on Jamming!!
It's a '94 (IYKYK)
What pedals did you use?
Edit: i never seem to get the overdrive right. Especially in the part before the last breakdown. It seems so much heavier than the rest of the song.
I only used a tc electronic flashback for the verse delay part and an mxr phase 90 evh for some other little sections here and there. But gain wise just the Engl invader 2.
@@JanisKlinnert ah I see, I seem to need overdrive because my amp has a very clean tone, so no matter what I do with gain, it's never sharp enough for the main verse.
@@myth2285 cabs and speakers are a huge part of this kind of tone. Combos often don’t move enough air and pedal gain usually feels „fake“ unless you spend serious cash. But I hear diezel makes a vh4 pedal. So maybe that will get you in the ball park.
What color is your Gibson
It’s completely natural actually! I have a bunch of pics of it on my IG @janis_kxl where u can see the top a little bit better 🤘🏻
Are you using the PRS MT-15 or the Engl?
Silverburst T only my Engl Invader 2. And by the way that’s an Engl Ironball behind me. But it actually does look like an mt15 never noticed that :D
Janis Klinnert oh ok haha it does look like the MT-15
🎵r0ck0n 🎵
🙌🏻🤘🏻
What year is your Les Paul, looks 70s/80s era
2011 actually, they did sort of reissue back then but with slightly different specs. Love that guitar!
@@JanisKlinnert nice bro, I’ve got a 70s reissue goldtop, love it
