- Hello there Metal Maniacs!
So here it is, another one of Germany's finest metals: Almanac with Self-Blinded Eyes!
Besides being one hell of a metal song there is actually a reason I recorded this (among some others) video. Victor Smolski, former Rage Guitarwizard and current mastermind of Almanac gave young and upcoming musicians the chance to share the stage with him and Almanac by sending in videos of playing a selection of Rage and Almanac Songs and thereby proving themselves worthy! So as a normal thinking guitarist I instantly started learning the songs and grabbed the chance! I had a little less than two weeks time for learning and recording a total of 4 songs.
I did manage to learn all songs and record all videos in time and Victor had already agreed to taking me up on stage!
Everything seemed sealed but Covid still managed to fuck everything up and I had to cancel last minute.
I would have had to travel about 450 km to the venue one way and it having been right before the last lockdown the risk of traveling there for nothing so to speak was really high.
So Victor and I agreed to try to join guitarforces together on stage when covid regulations were allowing it again (hopefully soon), which was obviously extremely generous of him!
Victor had a huge influence on my playing and taste for riffs and guitar tones so sharing the stage with a metal-guitar-legend like him would really be an absolut dream come true!
Anyway I hope You guys enjoy my performance of this beast of a song. Even if it doesn't quite match the video production level of my other videos (due to the shortage of time :D).
This is absolutely amazing, learning such a metal song within this short period of time!
I hope you had the chance to share the stage with him. I saw Victor once on the Guitar Summit in Mannheim 2018. Although he didn't know me when I saw him outside the stage he greeted me. And on stage he showed some tipps and tricks without any arrogant attitude...
Thank you! It quite a tall order but the almanac/rage songs are insanely fun to play! And yes Victor is a super nice guy and incredible player! Had the chance to do a lesson with him. Great guy!
