- If you've ever seen one of my demos in store or at events (hey, remember them?) you may have noticed the small toolbox I use to hold all my equipment. Well after many questions about it over the years, I finally got round to filming a tutorial on how to make it.

Ah it's good to be back. Thanks to everyone who left a kind comment on my past video (now hidden)
I wasn't able to respond to everyone, but I can guarantee I read each and every one and really appreciate the support. Even the tough love from the haters ;)
While I won't be up to full speed straight away, hopefully this 15 part series will tide you over until the next video. The link can be found in the description.
Love you all :)
You are stronger now ! đđđ
Glad you're back. I hope you're feeling better, although it's a rocky road and every day's different.
Yes...! The Talent is back :)
Nice to have you back on deck mate! :-) Hope life is being kind to you! Looking forward to seeing what rolls around in your imagination and exits through your fingers into things of beauty! Rock on!
The best way out is through! And you have made that choice... Good man! :)
"I'm never cutting dovetails again" next video dovetail world record đ
Yeah đ that aged like milk
Dude, the editing and humor on this video is next level! Glad to see your spirits up!
Donât know if you understand how good it was to get the notification you posted a video! Love it!
When the world needed him most he sat eating belvita until we didn't need him as severely.
Great video btw
Ladies & gentlemen He's BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!
May the 4th be with you dear Matt.
I don't know if you see comments made on 2 year old offerings but on the odd chance that you will, I just want to say you really do these right. Your teaching style being only a part of it. The editing and content in general are great and the amount of crossed referenced inf. in the free online school is enormously thorough and well organized. I can't imagine the amount of work that went into assembling these tutorials but I'm guessing it was more than the actual woodworking part of the equation. Thank you for doing what you do so well.
Tis a good project to be fair!
After first making a (rather shoddy) dovetailed box when I was 17, I followed your video on cutting dovetails to the letter, and 18 years later made a rather nice tool chest from some oak floorboards. Watching your videos always inspires me to get into homework mode (in the pattermaking workshop) and make something nice. Glad to see you're back.
Welcome back, Matt. Please keep on helping us built more beautiful things. I just finished the box and couldnât be more happy with the way it turned out. It helped taking my mind of all the problems in the hospital. Thanks so much!
Great to see you producing stuff again. Hope you're back in a good headspace. Great project, beautiful work as always.
The definition of simple elegance.
I like your honesty on making mistakes, it learning how to fix them that makes your videos awesome.
Glad to see your back, Matt. Seeing a young man with so much love for woodworking is great!
Top project. Glad to see you back!! Matt, always follow your heart and do whatever makes you happy, whether its youtube or not!
Good to see you making videos again, thank you. I hope you are feeling better about yourself. You have something to offer people, you contribute to other people lives and make them better. Cheers
Outstanding craftsmanship.
Woodworking time-lapse + lo-fi/jazz-hop/chill-hop = heaven
Matt, donât ever underestimate your skills, particularly in woodworking and teaching. Itâs human nature for those of us that are humble to do that. I view a lot of videos, but your channel is one of the few to which I am subscribed. As a fellow introvert, know that you are truly appreciated by so many people. Cheers Mate!
The day has been tough up until I fired up CZcams and watched my usual suspects make sawdust. Now as I am close to finishing up, you come along with this video. Looks like I saved the best for last, eh. It's good to see the mischief and the fire in those eyes again, Matt. "Smooth sailing" you said - be the classic, wooden sailing yacht. Not the speedboat.
I am kind of on the fence with the toolbox. One one hand, you have outdone yourself with this box, both with design and craftsmanship. I especially love the lid. On the other hand, I'd really, REALLY like a handle on a toolbox so I can pick it up with one hand. That, however, may create new esthetic problems ... Sigh. It's never easy, is it.
I have been avoiding the uploaded parts of the project up until now, so I can binge watch them. Thank you for this one.
Can feel you coming back with this awesome video ! No pressure ! We can always rewatch the old ones . đ
great to see you back!!
Love your work. You are inspirational!
Glad you're doing content again.
Bloody brilliant to watch. Very calming and mesmerising at the same time.
Glad to see youâre back and cutting those incredible dovetails!
Well, I saw only two videos from you, but I am heavyly impressed by your woodworking and editoring skills. Stoked to see more!
Crispy, as always! Love it
Don't wait so long between videos, we've missed them :)
Beautiful work!
Great to see you back on form, Matt. Cool project too. Wish I could do dovetails like that....
This was such a great series!
I don't think it's possible for me to love this any more
Welcome back! CHOO CHOO THE WOODWORKING TRAIN IS BACK IN ACTION.
Welcome home! And you are most welcome... I bust my shoulder a few months ago (recuperating) and I missed your content almost as much as I miss the workshop.
ooOOOOOOOhhh - that definitely was satisfying to watch :) thanks again. Can't wait to get started on mine.
Great to see you back on my feed Matt.
Beautiful box, and majestic editing !
hair game strong - i'm still cultivating mine - good to see you back!
Thanks heaps for doing all this. There was a a huge amount of work that went into it and a lot of knowledge and experience require to do so. Again - thanks heaps.
Nice job! Wow, great dovetails!
Oh and good to see you back Matt :)
awesome tool box
I have watched you grow over the years, while I know you have had some ups and downs over the last year or so. I hope things are looking up for you. I enjoyed this video alot, you have developed a real nack for teaching, I am sure you are like the rest of us we are always learning, but your gift is you continue to pass the knowledge on. I love the miteres you do they spot on somethng I do need to master. I only wish you all the best Matt and team, as I know you are no longer alone and that is good. Look forward to seeing what next thanks.
Hey Matt, everyone has crap to work through, nice box and I look forward to future builds if thatâs what you want to do ! Youâre a skilled woodworker and a nice guy with a great sense of humor, these are the reasons I enjoy your videos ~
Yes!! Glad to see you back!! Favorite chippy ( aside from the one that does good pies )
Welcome back Matt!!!
Good to see you!
Great to see you back Matt keep going ...................just breathe.................just be you.................just keep creating.....................LOVE YOUR WORK!
such a high density of incredibly beautiful shots.
Amazing! Im amazed by the details! You did a great job displaying that very well! Iâm in the process of getting familiar with the functions of the tools for woodworking. Thank you for sharing!
saw your ( hidden) video on facebook, it takes courage to make that, glad you are back, stay safe, stay happy love what you do and in time i will try this project
Nice saw!
I wonder where that saw came from đ
Just you wait Rob, thereâs more to come đ đ
We cant afford your saws with Brexit and no public sector pay rises for 5 years paying for both Brexit and covid.
My work improved more than I thought possible after I got Robâs dovetail saw. I thought I had good saws before! Thanks Matt and Rob. Two Good Guys!
Beautiful work! I love EVERYTHING about this channel! đđđ
Good to see you back :)
Nice to see you back posting new videos - love the new toolbox series! Looking forward to the Baby Bertha, as I could use one.
I love the new ISH format
Keep it up Matt
Great to see you back - looks like youâve recovered your mojo. Onward and upward Matt!
amazing work! love your videos!
Nice job Matt đ
Woo hoo glad to see you back chum. Great work as usual.
Great piece. Nice work
Brilliant video Matt will put together
This was a really cool video I loved the project and the music. And as always the edit was superb !
Woohoo Matt video drop!! Made my week đđ
Good to see You.
Aw YEAH! I been waiting for this!
hi Matt. thanks fir the effort you put in the other channel. Really appreciate that.
Recently saw in Wood magazine a much more simplified yet still dovetailed tool caddy. What was really nice was that it seemed like rather than have 1/2 pins on the bottom, the craftsman offset the layout upward to create a full mitered corner on the bottom. Looks like you did the same but the video breezed through your progress step to quickly. Really is a nice detail probably not "caught" unless specifically explained or something the viewer has seen before.
Lovely to see all the screw heads aligned. A sign of someone who takes pride in their work.
You're a good un Matt, I've been here from the beginning, and will be here till the end.
I have just found you through your how to sharpen chisels. You are an awesome craftsman and a great teacher. I am now going through your back catalogue đ
Absolutely beautiful! I received my dovetail guide and saw a week ago. My marking knife is due in today. I think this will be my first project. Not for tools, but I think a better purpose would be for seeds for our veg. garden.
Matt Estlea, what a pleasure that was to watch. I've been following you for years now and I have to say other than the Bertha series this has definitely been my favourite video of yours. Those dovetails would put Rob Cosman to shame too by the way. Great to see you again.
Tremendous. Best CZcamsr FULL STOP!
Very high energy video! I like it
Fine work, Matt. Beautiful box. Will definitely be making one (or more) of my own. The only difference is that I will add brass inlays in the top and possibly the sides. Again, fine work.
So very Awesome
Now everything will be fine again - the master is back!
Welcome back mate. missed your content
Nice job Matt, you are certainly a good joiner
Oh joy, no narration and lame music. My favorite combination for a video on woodworking.
Just like old times. Welcome back.
Nice bro !!
đ nice work! And great vid đ
Great video! Iâm going to buy the plans and tackle this one. In walnut.
Watching that tray float in was fkn LUSH!!
Awesome
Looking good even without the handle! đ
Good to see you getting back on your feet. Your previous video I found disturbing although I'm aware the online life can be stressfull. Anyway: great video, good soundtrack and that wonderfull sense of 'Britishness' . Thank you!
As someone who hasn't done woodwork since middle school (a single basic project 30 years ago!) this looks great. I saw lots of power tools used in the overview... I hope the full tutorial will cater for people with much more limited workshops/budgets.
Matt has shown everything he did with the powertools done with hand tools in previous tutorial projects I believe
@@alexander.angell thankyou. I'll start working through the videos and links shortly.
@@neil_down_south no problem, they're all on his free online woodworking school channel
Hope youâre feeling well!!
How this got lost in the tide of notifications when it came out I'll never know.. Beautiful video.
If this counts as a comeback video - Iâd say the part of the tray sliding in on a Cushion of air did it for me.
So zen-like.
Well done, Matt! I understand Rob C is already preparing g a response to this video, this is gonna be awesome. Game on! Stanley Cup playoffs here in the US/Canada, and dovetail duels as well!
He's back!
That is a lovely box and stunning work there, I honestly don't think I could make that in a month of Sundays
Bello! beautiful! đ
Matt, Iâm so happy to see your new video. Also, amazing dovetail workmanship. Take good care of yourself my friend!
You have helped me transition to hand tool. I still have much to learn, and you my friend, your given in-depth videos that gives me some the courage confidence to try hand cutting dovetailâs. I need much practice.
Thank You Matt for what you do, and sharing your passion with us, your a stud!
PS get a haircut :) đ
6:33 wow, I don't know that feeling, but it must be awesome đ
Welcome back.
