- Destiny 2: The Witness Attacks Cutscene
The Witness Has arrived, threatening the city, the Traveler and all of Sol. Aided by its newest disciple Emperor Calus, the Witness aims to bring about a second collapse.

people only focus the ghost being sliced but they never notice what happend to guardian's head
I did it came to pieces at the same time as the ghost meaning they are definitely 100% dead
@@deadstareffect i didn't notice till you said DX
Noticed that when I first saw it. We were dead before we knew it.
We actually know who that guardian was, he was Reed (the guy from reeds regret) so that’s another dose of ptsd and trauma for shayuras fireteam
Couldn’t we send another ghost to get him?
This scene makes you realize why they called it the Gardener.
the skin transitioning into smoke looks so freaking cool
I was looking everywhere for someone to comment this...
Yeah, and the small detail of FACES on that smoke
The beginning of this DLC was such a perfect setup. I really though this was going to be at the same level as Infinity War gave us in its intro. You feel the dread, the intimidation of the witness just slice up those guardians with just the flick of a finger. The actual feeling of losing. I didnt mind the introduction of Neomuna or dealing with Calus. But considering 75% of Lightfall's story after this cutscene is just us discovering Strand and finding the Veil not knowing what it was until a SEASONAL CUTSCENE, was the reason why this expansion failed on a narrative level.
That's why I blame Sony for it. Ever since Bungie was bought out by Sony, they've been forced into making a multiplayer reboot of Marathon, a franchise better left dead since they started Halo, meaning Bungie had to release seasonal content to make up for the bland story of Lightfall. At least we know Bungie cares if they're trying to make Lightfall make sense with seasonal content at regular intervals, unlike EA who doesn't care about Battlefield 2042, since updates from DICE's skeleton crew of developers working on the game are few and far between.
You got guardian ranks and commendations. What more do you want? 11/10 DLC
@@BaxterAndLunalaSony has literally nothing to do with all of those things, what the fuck are you talking about
@@Ruuoda good story
@@BaxterAndLunalathey got bought out after this shitty lightfall release. They poured there resources on finale shape
2:40 oh, this scene finally makes sense now that we know the Witness' Origin. Since the witness couldn't find the Veil in any records, it used the connection between the Traveler and the Veil to find the latter.
Yep, would've been better if we learned that sooner
@@GeorgeFPS1 yep, a lot of the problems regarding Lightfall not answering questions could be answered by the Witness' cutscene.
Another example is the Witness' reaction to seeing Calus holding his empty cup. We know the Witness' was disgusted by Calus' behavior but we didn't know why exactly. Now, we know that the Witness is 'angry' at the universe because it made everything without meaning. And Calus is someone who revels in that meaninglessness.
@@allentayoto7387 yeah, the story is good I know people say it's bad but it's just the arrangement of the story that's the problem
@@GeorgeFPS1I mean if they arrange the story badly then the story is bad, similarly to how a car with the steering wheel in the trunk is bad at being a car if assembled badly. They had a good premise then ruined it with bad storytelling
Im just realizing that this is probably the only time the Traveler has fought alongside one of the races it has imbued with the light.
doesn't have a choice, there is no where for it to go.
After the Lore drop on how this is a "Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagan" story, that massively explains The Witness's power.
yeah, not only because its the consciousness to an entire civilization, but also because its intrinsically aligned with the darkness, making it almost boundless
Dude! Spoilers!!
@@mobiusmmobiusiii941 Hardly.
Because we got a portion of that witness. This, we got the full Witness.
@@torosoupI’m still confused over how the witness has this much control over the darkness. Since the darkness is basically the veil and is neither hood or bad
@@ringingeaglethe witnesses people were the ones who discovered the light and the dark, the were apposed by no one, so they had control over boundless knowledge about the darkness. And if you think about how smart the civilization was, their combined knowledge would be unfathomable.
1:11 Good shot Traveler, I really hope that beam doesn’t reawaken some ancient Nightmare God from it’s slumber
I don't think we can shoot this guy to death, guys. Ain't no way.
Remember, the big boys like Nezarec and Rhulk want no smoke with this guy. The witness is to them what raid bosses are to us: A walking force of nature who could wipe you from existence by flicking their pinky finger. So you can imagine how irrelevant we are to him. Like a paper plane in a hurricane.
It will probably be a way if combining light and darkness subclass powers into a mega power that can defeat the witness but with such power could cost the guardians life and also the ghosts too.
We can think it to death 😂😂😂
@@nickson_2024 you predicted the future
I predict many things tbh and all came true 😮😊@LapisTriangle
I find it interesting that Elsie Bray was there, but we haven't interacted with her in Lightfall or in Seasons of Defiance, and the Deep.
Might get to see her In later seasons
She was in lore for season of the witch, she said eris becoming a god was one of the events in her dark future and that eris shouldn't be trusted from now on, but ofc she was wrong
0:36 never noticed nazaresc just chilling there
If you really think about it, the reason the traveler couldn’t hurt the witness is because the witness is completely made out of the consciousnesses of an entire species. Nothing about it is biological/physical. so the traveler being a God of the physical world probably can’t interact with a being completely made out of consciousness/darkness
Or the traveler goal wasn’t to destroy the witness in physical world. Cause maybe that is what caused the whole collapse we still don’t know everything that happened. Maybe the traveler was trying to level the playing field and defeat the witness in a different realm.
Or because bungie wanted another excuse for a dlc. It really seems they left the core players behind and just cater to the streamers. My whole thing is do I buy final shape and I going to feel the conclusion is going make everything make sense. The way they are handling it doesn’t give me any confidence. I wish the old bungie was back and make a great story like we all know they can.
Yall we ain't ready for this one
Nope
We were. We were very ready. Like disappointingly ready
Unfortunately, we were...
Actually we were, and it still wasn't enough
Bro took down multiple guardian ships with the wave of his finger like it was flicking dust of his shirt, how tf do u even defeat this dude????
Goona need bs anime power up
We can't. We have to convince him to defeat himself. No spoilers. Just my theory.

Second thought: When the hell did our jumpships get weapons?
Yeah sure would be nice to have a fleet (looks at the sky on the tower) wait we had all these ships, why didn't we use them
@@GeorgeFPS1 I mean, in fairness to a degree, what exactly could they have done? The entire Cabal fleet pre-Ghaul would have shattered.
True, up against the Witness there isn't much to do
where were the awoken ships and the Cabal ships??? why was it like a couple of fighters against the entire pyramid fleet???
I can’t wait for vegetable crop alien to attack again with god like power.
Now I see why we can’t just shoot him to death…
1:56
Cuz u already dead!
Ah yes, the opening cutscene of Lightfall.
Also known as, “The only good part of Lightfall’s story”.
Did...did the witness just shape the Traveler into a ghost with how its ships surrounded it o.o I know what Witness is actually doing with the Traveler, but it looks so close to being a ghost. Neat :)
It took me a little to see what you meant… like when a guardian goes down and the ghost expands to revive them, right?
@@noahv1479 yes and even a bit when a ghost isn't expanding, the pyramid ships are positioned in such a way where they are the shell and the Traveler is the eye
bro it looks like sagira
Well I’ve leaned my lesson. Never close the door on the face of a Jehovah Witness.
I see what the witness did there he cut it open a little so it gains knowledge on where to find the veil 2:40
You know s**t's gotten bad when the Traveler is fighting back.
Funny how the witness flicking his fingers was the only good thing in the entire DLC
His smile fair as spring, as towards him he draws you
His tongue sharp and silvery, as he implores you
Your wishes he grants, as he swears to adore you
Gold, silver, jewels - he lays riches before you
Dues need be repaid, and he will come for you
All to reclaim, no smile to console you
He’ll snare you in bonds, eyes glowing’, a fire
To gore and torment you, till the stars expire

Lightfall has been out for a fuckin minute now, but i decided to come back to this cutscene. I love how at 37-39ish the witnesses hand motion almost gives off a mild contemplative vibe.
Very much like the analogy often used by the witness, its like it's playing a game of chess and deciding how to proceed. But seeing these "moves" in real time is really fun to watch.
videogamers i regret to inform you that i do find the witness and its hand gestures extremely attractive
No.

Oh… my Witness…

Best thing about this game is it's cutscenes.
It’s going up against oryx all over again
if you’ve read the lore, it’s actually worse than oryx. the witness is the voice oryx was hearing in the deep
Oryx was cool asf but the witness does have far more power
If they don't have The Witness doing this slicing magic in the raid when we're against him... I'm going to REEE
is it just me or the part where the traveler striked back really wasn't intense enough? Regarding the music, the sound and visual effects, etc.
Mustve Been a wtf moment when you see your ghost get sliced
What is the music called at 2:51? Does anyone know
Am I to understand based on Vanguards look of defeat that he only sent six small halo pelican-lookin shits to deal with this? Is he on spray paint? How has he not learned his lesson after getting bent over and reamed 24/7 since the beginning of the game and built an armada battlefleet by now? Who put him in charge again?
I don't know but you have one hell of a point
Dude. Thats like saying "Why did Gondor only sent like 5 dudes to stop Sauron". Its a cutscene. In a game. It wont follow every single pilot who took part in this battle.
@@user-oo3oi9ki2j that's a stupid comparison because Gondor sent an ARMY. This nigga had half a squadron and after they blew up the enemy won. There weren't any fighters in the background, no cruisers or battleships no wide shots of the fight, nothin. They bite it, Vanguard sighs in defeat and doubtless questions his intelligence, and the Traveller gets got. It's stupid.
@Riorozen expensive ok.
It's called not actually being a good leader.
None of the vanguard are.
Ikora keeps success and failure secret, never allowing the player to develop real independent confidence and just files it away under "we've got bigger concerns at hand" textbook narcissistic sociopath behavior.
To the best of my knowledge as someone who joined during The Taken King, I've never heard a single line where zavala asks for any advice or assistance. Good leaders are good followers, and listen to their fellows and seek counsel. Zavala does none of it and expects total cooperation.
Kayde-6 was ALMOST there, but where a good leader fights alongside their soldiers, he just vanished off to do it on his own, leaving everyone to potentially go headless in his unexplained absence.
In fact, in all of destiny, as far as I know, there's only a small few major leaders we've ever seen directly present and active at the front line when they didn't have to be.
The Red War isn't an example for the vanguard because the cabal came to them.
The Witness
Oryx
The Fanatic
If there will be a destiny 3, i hope they can let us drive our ship
0:36 we get a look at nezaracs original form
The Guardians had no fleet and just a bunch of jump ships.
Probably wouldn't have made a difference since Rasputin couldn't hurt it.
What’s the song called in the beginning?
Coming back to this I hate the fact this reminds me sukuna lol
bro if this dude can flick his wrist and slice up 3 guardians all at once, how are we supposed to fight this thing???
Plot armor unfortunately!! Look at the final mission in the campaign. Mf was able to hold the helm in place and didn’t kill everyone in that room when he could off. Let’s see what else he can do in the raid.
Yes, it's witness time
Welp... There went Reed-7.
Destiny 2 has some of the best art direction ever. It's a shame I'm not a fan of the gameplay though. Kinda wish for a more Halo alike experience with that artistic vibe.
Was the traveler attacking the witness? Or just tracker beaming it?
Hear me out… I know the witness is powerful. But what about a sneak attack? Just sneak up behind him, and shoot.
***spoiler*** Reading the exotic trials ship lore. the squad of ships moving in formation alongside Amanda Holiday are the trials guardians: Aisha, Reed-7, and Shayura. Reed-7 is the titan split in pieces.
I'm confused as to how Aisha and Shayura survived that.
@@Halixar well... the only guardian split in pieces was Reed-7. the other ships were split but the cockpits looked intact.
So more importantly, the Trailer Squad is still alive?
It was much less gory than i expected
That is what buggy supposed to be doing
FACTS
I would've had the Traveler fight the fleet alongside the guardians, really showcasing its power and the stregth of the vanguard until the Witness links the Veil, THEN have him beat the Traveler and open the portal. Having them just sit there while the business on Neptune takes place is just stupid.
Enter Nimbus.
Bonk hammer to defeat witness
Yal gonna need Franklin richards or the marquis of death for this 1😂😂😂
There will be dire consequences if the Witness isn't the final boss in the next Destiny 2 campaign. There will also be some if it's exclusive on PS4, and not available on PC and Xbox One.
I think the show case guys said that he was going to be the raid boss😫. I mean it makes since but at the same time I don’t like it. Lucky there putting in a new system that makes match making easier by raising everyone’s light level
