- It’s been 7 years since the Minecraft Mario Edition Mashup Pack came out and it’s still being updated in 2024! Today I’m ranking what I find most cursed and what’s the best in all of the new stuff added as well as finding secrets and Easter eggs in the pack as well!

The mashup was released on wii u in 2016, so it's been updated for 8 YEARS

it technically is a 1 up, but less the actual mushroom and moreso the way mario galaxy refers to it as “an extra mario.”

If you wanna know why hoglins look so weird, it’s because they are modeled after the mechakoopas from Mario galaxy. They’re much chunkier than regular ones, which is why they used a hoglin as a base.

It's not a normal mechakoopa Is a micro mechakoopa from super Mario galaxy
Really threw me off that the warden isn't Petey Piranha. The sculk is all piranha plants, Petey is a boss character, and he has a big head with a gaping mouth, just like the warden. Not to mention, Petey's dungeon in Partners in Time is literally a dark, blue-green underground ruin, just like the ancient cities.
I agree, Petey Piranha just fits better than Dry Bowser does. Plus, if I remember correctly, Petey doesn’t have any eyes either, like the Warden
The wither is a 3 headed piranha plant, so close enough
The Warden is vaguely sculk themed, sure, but bears more resemblance to a lich minotaur. Dry Bowser was the right choice.

This isn't just the Mario one, every single mashup pack gets updated for new Minecraft updates, even the really old ones from legacy console editions (pre-bedrock) I really respect them updating em all these years later
Don’t some of these maps like the festive mashup not even work anymore (last time I checked the festive mashup crashes when opened)

I remember playing this with my brother years ago, replacing the mario statues colours to make them fire mario and filling the boswer statue up with tnt, good times... Kinda weirdly comforting to see its still being updated

The Mashup pack would’ve benefitted from the doubled pixel ratio and custom models
For sure. Some of the models are technically custom but they just have certain things removed like the dolphin has a flat face

I think this pack should be completely revamped it’s mobs look cursed and a bit dated and very buggy (the ravager) I think it’d be a greater pack
I remember seeing one thing about the mash up pack being talked about a while ago. It was about how everything skulk related is piranha plant themed, but for some reason they made the warden be dry bowser instead of Petey piranha

Maybe it’s because *the Wither* is already a Piranha Plant thing? I do think Dry Bowser as the Warden is *really cool,* but the fact all the Sculk blocks are Piranha Plant-themed kinda muddies the idea. Maybe the whole thing would work better if the blocks were specifically _Bone_ Piranha Plant-themed?

I’d kinda like it if some mobs were just in the Mario style but still those mobs rather than being based on specific mario enemies. Like those goats, but for other mobs, I suppose. Like the camel.

All of the old mashups packs, including ones like Skyrim and fallout are still updated. Some of them have gotten really creative, such as making the warden a deathclaw for fallout.
This was one of, if not the first Minecraft modpack I ever played, and it brings back some very fun memories. Nice to see it's still being updated, and good video as always 👍
So the Mechakoopa texture on the Hoglin is actually the design from Super Mario Galaxy. Look it up!!
Those guys are actually called “Micro Mecha-Bowsers” (at least in _Galaxy 2_ ) because they’re like a tiny version of Mecha-Bowser from _Sunshine!_

With the new Armadillo enemy in Mario Wonder, I'm assuming that the design they'll use if they do update the design for the Armadillo for Minecraft.

I loved playing this on my Wii U when I was younger. Glad to know it’s still being updated.
My greatest memory is seeing the shy guy enderman for the first time and immediately leaving the world.

Dude I love this so much! I have so many memories playing this mashup pack so much on my Wii U. I spent so much time recoloring the statues and stuff. Just seeing someone aknowledge it makes me so happy.

The phantoms, a flying mob, are modeled after the ray from the ray surfing in Mario Galaxy. This is a subtle nod to the hundreds of times I took flight with a ray in that game when I veered off the edge of the loop de loop galaxy to both mine and the ray’s doom because my unarticulated 7 year old hands couldn’t tilt a Wii mote 45 degrees to the left or right accurately for more than one turn for some reason.
You see, the wiimote sensor bar was in a weird place
so glad more people are getting to witness big wiggler
ive been keeping up with the texture pack since its launch and i honestly love how weird and goofy it is, but part of me wonders if itd be any different if it was made today

It's the same for the adventure time mashup pack, except the adventure time mashup pack is much older. I have not looked at much but the wither is some demon guy (if you could not tell I don't watch adventure time), the warden is the lich, and the ender dragon is golb.
The Hoglin / Mechakoopa is actually a Mechakoopa from Mario Galaxy
I think the armadillo will logically be the one found in Super Mario Bros Wonder

I remember when the Mario Mashup Pack was 1st added to Wii U Edition back in like 2016 and being dissappinted that the cut the Midbus pigs
Really shows how far we've come, while I appreciate the effort this pack feels a little neglected when compared to the similar one sonic got last year. All the fancy model stuff they were able to do really makes it shine

I would love to see this type of video done for the other old mashupacks. Idk if all of them are still being updated. Im pretty sure they all are. But I'd like to see what the new stuff looks like in the Adventure Time, Halo, and even LBP mashup packs. Or even classic texture packs like the Halloween & Christmas ones.

I love the ideas for that texture pack, the substitutions are really clever and everything is a nice reference, but I think I would love a texture pack that actually modifies the models instead of just modifying textures, like the Sonic one does, it would avoid some of the cursed mobs we have, that texture pack just like this one right here is also full of cool references and details, but the models being edited as well makes it avoid the cursed mobs

the clay pots could have been Super Mario Bros. 2 vases but I still like what they are now. Very funny looking
I have the world on my Switch. First thing I did in it was blow up the start house, fill it up with mobs to the point that they crush each other to death and then make more explosions. I also set Mario on fire, blew up Peach's castle and made Corona Mountain (the volcano on Isle Delfino) errupt. The last thing I did was cool the volcano off, put a new layer of grass over the cobblestone and plant cherry trees.

I love that the sculk sensor is the sleeping piranha plants from Super Mario 64, getting woken up and attacking when the sculk sensor is activated
I feel like the spyglass is sort of modeled after the photo mode in Odyssey, but I could be wrong
One of the glazed terracottas in 0:19 (specifically the red, gray, and white one) kinda reminds me of R.O.B.
About 1-2 years ago, I picked up my old switch and booted up this pack. I was and still am surprised they're still updating this pack, even if minecraft runs like crap on the switch.
The funniest thing about the Mario Mash-Up pack is that the slide theme can play when a warden spawns.
I think the most cursed thing here is that you have 4K subs, that is actually criminal

I gotta check this texture pack more often.. I don’t check it always since sometimes the textures need time.
I also could’ve sworn the lush bushes, the bushes with the blue flowers used to have yoshi fruit..
If the Mario mashup pack is still getting updated they should add new skins such as funky Kong and Pauline
2:11 I think that’s based off of a character from Mario strikers (can’t remember the name) and I don’t blame you for not knowing since he only appeared in the first one and at the end credits of the second one.

If your interested you should check out the adventure time world pack. If I remember correctly, they do also update there. Last update I remember which was years ago was the edition of polar bears being normal bears with Finn’s clothing

I wanted to do that in this video but I have to go on vacation soon and didn’t have much time to film this one😔 it also took so long to get the footage because of how badly Minecraft on switch lags whenever you open menus it’s so bad
4:14 I think it's specifically the Mecha-Koopa from Galaxy 2, those fire-spitting ones, they were always weird. Also the sea turtles should've been those blue Seaturtles from Mario Wonder but maybe that came out too late
While the little Mario was a cute little touch, it should've been a 1-Up Mushroom. Don't know if there's an item with that texture already, but the Totem having a 1-Up? it just makes so much sense

The sniffer finds ancient seeds (torch flowet, Potter plant) for you to plant on farmland, growing them.into flowers for you to break and place where ever you want as long as it's on a kind of grass besides grass path (or on dirt)
