    If you're replacing the stock speakers you can pry off the old speaker brackets off the old speakers and reuse them with new speakers. Worked great for me.

    The screen over speakers sure would be a better way to change them out, if they'd of made it that way.

    2003 Yukon Denali XL: Under the lock slider, there's a plastic bracket supporting the lock bar. A 7mm bolt holds it to the door. After removing the lock slider, remove the bolt behind that slider. THEN pull the door panel off.

      Same goes for a 2004 Tahoe. This is likely something that was added around 2003 and likely applies to all models. Door wouldn't budge until this screw is removed.

      I know its late but for other people.... on mine there is a black clip on top with foam running between it. You just pull that down and out

    I ordered the Metra 82-3002 pair of brackets. You failed to mention not all speakers fit the bracket. That would have been helpful. I bought a pair of Alpine SXE-1726S from Crutchfield and they don’t fit in the brackets you said we needed. Frustrating…
    Plus I know you’re trying to save time and keep the videos to the point, but it is helpful to see how you do these steps, not just that you did these steps. No real need for video if you’re just going to show results without the process.

    You forgot to mention on a totally electric underneath the power window switches there is a 7mm bolt holding the panel on. Remove that bolt before trying to take your door panel off.

      This is also the case with 2001 suburban 2500. Need to remove the control panel and remove that 3rd 7mm bolt. I discovered this by breaking one of them

    I bought the speaker adapters for my 02 Tahoe and tried to install 6.5 inch boss speakers with it and the speaker adapters were too small for the speakers. Had to return them.

    This Chanel has been so helpful.. I have an 04 single cab Sierra as a little toy truck, been thinking about doing my sound system myself and you guys got me feeling confident enough to do the head unit and speakers.. the only thing I’m shaky on is on adding a sub and amp. Like how or where to mound the amp and sub... do you have any videos that could help?

      You’re probably stuck to a under seat sub box and amplifier tucked away near it wires running by the doors and through the firewall, never the door jam.

      The tweeter would be connected to the door panel itself. There are screws that hold it in place.

    Great video but you did the easy part how about running the wires through the door grommet to put a real amplifier in the truck that would have been a good video talking about getting some views!!!

      You run the wires from the amp to the head unit harness that way you don’t have to run separate wires to for different locations

      I think you have to, that’s what am trying to figure out Did you cut the sides that don’t fit ???, I have a 96 but with out cutting those won’t fit I see that he did not cut them off

      Yes, you do as long as your truck is a 4 door (crew cab) because they use the same size speakers front and rear. No adaptor is needed if you have an extended cab truck because those use a 4x6 speaker.

      They are running off the factory radio. However, they could use a little more power as they are rated for 50watts RMS each speaker.

    I have these Metra brackets ready for my install. My question is, do I just run the screws that came with the speakers, through the slots that match up with the holes in the speaker frame? I don't want to crack the plastic of the bracket.

      Use same screw but shorter , will fit really good with out braking it

      Nope, not mandatory to use the brackets, as long as the speaker magnet clears the window tracks, you can mount the speaker directly to the door without the bracket.

      It did not, but for speaker replacement, the process is the same regardless if it has bose or not.

      It should fit the 1999/2000 thru 2006 GMT800 trucks. It said it fit my 04 Tahoe which I used to install my speakers and they played sound after installation.

      @@thomashoppes8594 I did the front door speaker installation on my 04 Tahoe today. I used an aftermarket speaker adapter (Metra 72-4568) and I drilled holes for a pair of 6.5 pioneer speakers.
      If you’re upgrading from OEM & you need adapters, these will fit your 2001.
      metra 82-3002 door brackets, about $15 on crutchfield.com or you can drill holes, whatever works best for you.
      Speaker harness connectors Metra 72-4568 is what you’ll need to connect to your factory wiring harness. $6 per pair on Amazon or Crutchfield.com

      For speakers, disconnecting the battery generally isn't needed. But, if you are uncomfortable working on your speakers with the battery connected, by all means, remove the negative.

    Is there supposed to be a tweeter right above the 6.5 speaker? I've seen it through the grill on my 2004 Silverado.

      Depends on what trim level your truck has. Some do, some don't. This one did not so we used coaxial speakers instead of a component set.

      There will not be direct replacements for tweeters, so most component sets come with brackets to allow you to attach them to door panels.

      Just an FYI my 2002 Silverado looks just like this. However, the door panel did not just lift off. The electric locks and windows portion lifts out and there is a plastic bracket. Needless to say that is broken now. Not mad at ya, just thought I would let you know.

      They really don't because you can bolt up speakers to the factory location, but i'd suggest foaming the back of your speaker to avoid rattles.

      Yes, they use the same part number speaker adaptor wiring harness. It's a Metra 72-4568 for both front and rear speakers.

      If you’re referring to the door bracket adapter that clips onto the door, Not required, I just watched several videos (including this one) on rear speakers install. Only required on front. I’m planning a DIY install sometime this month

      They changed the door style half way through 1999. Sounds like you have the older style.

      Provo Beast Audio Installation good answer. I have a question. Would u recomend using speaker baffles? They are also called boom mat, with is like a cup where the speaker maget goes in. Would i get better sound with those or speaker foam fast rings?

      Yes, they may help with midbass and better insulation against moisture in the doors.
