    I’ve been doing quite a few videos outside because I love how great the lighting is:) however for any new viewers, my rabbits are indoor rabbits. I think outdoor setups are perfectly suitable for rabbits, however this set up is far too flimsy to be a permanent outdoor setup. They are only in this for supervised play during the day:) I have a cage tour and a pet room tour for those of you wanting to see their full time setup:)

      @@olliethebunbun3527 I'd advise you to get a rabbit that's the opposite sex of your own as it's much easier to bond and the chance that it goes well is much higher. Same sex rabbits usually fight sooner or later

    • @mypawfectfamily
      @mypawfectfamily  Před 4 lety

      I don’t think there is much backing to prove that. There are lots of people who have same sex pairs very successfully. Honestly having a nuetered male isn’t all that different than a spayed female.
      A male and female pairing tends to be the easiest. The most natural is a couple females and a male. When you just try to bond females, there tends to be issues of dominance, however if everyone is fixed it’s really not that serious. And a pair of males is pretty uncommon in the wild but that’s what I have and many others and it works out really well.
      I think it’s all preference:) but yes I male and female do seem to be the most successful

    I've been doing research to get a rabbit next year around may and I will be rescuing one. Should I rescue two different rabbits and try and bond them? I'm not sure how likely it will be for me to find an already bonded pair that need to be rehomed. I'm worried about aggression between the two as I have never had a rabbit of my own before.

    • @mypawfectfamily

    You said you’re 18 so I have a question. Do you still live with your parents or do you rent an apartment? If so how much would you say your rent is? I know this is a bit personal but I’m going to be 18 in three years and I don’t know what I’m going to do about my bunny. I want to rent an apartment if I can and have him stay with me but I don’t know :(

      I live with my parents:) I have a really good university close to my house so it worked out!
      I have an apartment style dorm provided to me from my scholarship, but they don’t allow animals:(
      Honestly, with how expensive and strict apartments are, your best bet is to rent a room (in someone else’s home). It’s a lot cheaper and they are usually more relaxed on pet policies:)

      It will all work out! Don’t stress:)
      You have tons of time and it’s great you’re thinking about it early:)
      You seem very smart and responsible. As long as you work hard in highschool, you’ll definitely have shcolarship available that make university affordable.
      Also, once you start college, there are tons of high paying on campus jobs. I’m an ambassador for my college and that pays $15 an hour, I also get paid for my research and to me a student mentor. I also have extra scholarships that are refunded to me and make extra from that.
      I definitely could afford to live on my own if I wanted to, I just am really close with my family and since I already have a dorm at college, I love having the option to be a a traditional college kid or come home and be an animal nerd:)

      @@nesquick9681 hey, I just moved out of my parents house and got really lucky with my new apartment. They allow pets, and on top of that they don’t require a pet deposit for bunnies. When looking for an apartment, just filter for pet allowed apartments first, then when you’re interested ask if they allow rabbits (and any other questions) before you do anything else. In my experience, when they know you’re serious about renting they’ll try to be a little more accommodating if it’s possible. Worst case scenario, look for apartments a few months before you have to move so you’ll have plenty of options and eventually you’ll find one that allows rabbits. They might come with a pet fee but you’d get that with any animal most of the time, so the only downside is you’ll have to spend an additional $25 or so every month to have a pet. Just look as much as you can before you decide to rehome your pet, chances are you’ll find something! Good luck :)

      Aw I’m sorry.
      I would just ask to adopt a bonded pair. Getting a first rabbit and them asking for permission to get a second rabbit seems risky.
      I know it’s hard but maybe it would be best to wait until you can have two rabbits or get none at all. Or I guess you could go to a shelter and ask if there are any rabbits who really don’t do well with others
      I know my parents would have none of that lol.

    Well rabbits can be alone as a rabbits sleeping schedule allows rabbits to not get lonely as they sleep while you are away then when you come home the rabbits often are fine and happy to see you
    The issue only comes in for single rabbits when the owner comes home neglects the rabbit and sits watching tv that’s when a single rabbit gets depressed but if you come home play with the rabbit and spend a lot of time with them and take them out on trips etc. So single rabbits are just as good as bonded ones

    • @mypawfectfamily
      @mypawfectfamily  Před 3 lety

      This a controversial topic and there is not one right answer.
      In my opinion, as people, we can’t groom a rabbit or flop with them or communicate with them. I think every social species thrives most with companionship from their own species. We can be great enrichment to a rabbits life but are moms substitute for a bonded pair. I don’t understand why people won’t keep Guinea pigs and gerbils alone but are fine to keep rabbits.
      In many countries it’s also illegal to have a single or rabbit and rescues won’t adopt out single bunnies as they recognize the need for companionship.
      I truly believe in a few years, it will be the norm to have bonded pairs. Just like it was normal to keep single guinea pigs some years back and now that’s considered cruel.
      Of course not everyone has the means for a second rabbit and they seem to do okay when living alone with human attention:) but I wouldn’t say that’s the same as having a best friend 24/7.

    • @mypawfectfamily
      @mypawfectfamily  Před 3 lety

      Also, just to add
      I don’t think rabbits are truly as crepuscular as people make them out to be. They prefer to take short naps and be up for short periods of time throughout the day. They are pretty lazy in the afternoon but they don’t continuously sleep. They are prey animals:)

      My Pawfect Family it’s hard to tell as domestic rabbits and wild rabbits are different creatures I plan on getting a rabbit relatively soon myself and I’ll be free roaming them in my summer house/ log cabin I originally planned to get two but seeing as i plan on essentially just making the summer house my bed room I think one would fit better also they cost more money for two which factors in its controversial and I reckon it likely depends on A the rabbits personality and B how safe the rabbit feels as if the rabbit does feel completely safe they will likely be glad to be able to sleep through also just to add I like how closer of a relationship feels if it’s one to one as you can devote your time to a rabbit it depends on your and the bunnys personality I think to see if they would like a bunny companion or just want a human

    2 bunny's is no luxury but a need for them. Make sure you match them and know that your doing. You can go to the rescue.
    The best opion is female x male (nudert). 2 males is not a good choice. Yes, it can work but in a lot of times it goes realy wrong. Even after years. Males can injure each other to the point that one of them have to put down.

    • @miranda5414
      @miranda5414 Před 4 lety +1

      @The pigeon Weirdo what i mean is that bunny's can injure each other so bad that the bunny can't be safed by the vet. Somethimes it is so bad that the have to put down.

    • @miranda5414
      @miranda5414 Před 4 lety +1

      @The pigeon Weirdo No they need al bunnyfriend. But male-male is a really bad idea. Femal-nuterd male is a good combination if they are a good match. In my country at the rescue's they do speeddating with your own bunny and (max.) 3 bunny's to see witch one is a good match. If they like each other than female-nuterd male is the most stable combination.

    • @miranda5414
      @miranda5414 Před 4 lety

      @The pigeon Weirdo i totaly agree! In the Netherlands where i live you can't adopt 1 bunny only 2. If you have a bunny they find a match. In only a few cases bunny's can not be bonded because of his/her past. They need to live alone.
      I mean that when you have 2 males together even after years they can start fithing with really bad outcome.

    • @aggroblu9753
      @aggroblu9753 Před 2 lety

      @The pigeon Weirdo nobody’s saying they need to be put down if they can’t live with another bunny. They’re literally just saying if two males are together and get into a big fight, the injured male may need to be put down because it is too injured to live or it’s quality of life, if kept alive, will drastically drop and it simply won’t be good for the rabbit.
      Male-male rabbit pair is a no go for any domesticated rabbit if it can be avoided.
      Male- female or female- female pair is good for them as rabbits are social animals and usually thrive with another bunny.
