    Step one: don't use clipless pedals as you're learning or you'll chicken out or faceplant before you ever get good.
    So many people I ride with who run clipless won't even attempt half the features I ride... and I wouldn't either!

      Hey, Practice makes Perfect. or so they say. Takes a lot of time to get comfortable and ride well while being clipped in and fully attached to the bike. Takes Full Commitment

      Sure does take full commitment. But what's the benefit? I've seen studies that show clipless doesn't even improve pedal efficiency for road bikes! And it seems like an oval chainring is better for achieving smoother power delivery.

      @@sv650ftw4 oval chainring can affect rear suspension performance, so on a full suspension MTB, not recommended.
      I agree with you on pedals, clip in pedals are only really useful for pro-level downhill racing, imo (and even then they aren't necessary eg Sam Hill among others)
