I bought my wife one of these from Walmart to get her into the sport. Once i installed some shimano mt200 brakes, box one drivetrain, a rockshox judy airfork the bike does really well on trails. I took it on my local blue square and black diamond trail. It didn't break so there's that😂. Honestly it wasn't much different from my Giant Fathom 1 29er. Just a bit heavier.

Would this be a decent bike for Marathon riding (as a mid-level 56 year old amateur)? Looking for a replacement for my 10 year old Giant Anthem X...

The albatross bar currently in vogue is too wide and has lots to do with your difficulties with this stem, clearly. Look at the motocross and supermoto riding position, and use that as a model. The upright riding position has been used in those for decades, and those are, in any comparison of like for like riding, far faster and more critical than comparable MTBing.

Or you could buy a $60 150mm BMX cruiser bar. I did. Also, dropper posts are heavy and unnecessary, as far as I’m concerned. But I’ve only been MTBing for 35 years, and I have just never needed or imagined a need for anything like that, so what do I know.

Check out Cabelas/BassPro. Ascent models are good deals for members. I paid 269 for ht-29, 18 speeds, micro shift, mech discs, etc.

I bought this because I love beautiful design. I absolutely love this bike. But am an introvert. I did not expect to have to talk to so many people about it 😅 So now I try to plan my rides on less used trails, or times of day when less people are around.

You don't need the whole pillow-pack of fluid.. check the FOX rebuild specs: Place 2 cc of FLOAT Fluid into the air sleeve. Just FYI for the next time, you can get 2 rebuilds out of each pack.. the left over can be used to lubricate the seals during installation.

I've been researching for MONTHS on getting a full squish bike and the Fuel EX 9.8 is what I settled on. Was quite a bit over what I promised myself I would spend... But after all the research, I just couldn't find a better bike at the price point. People say you pay a premium for the Trek name. I'm not about that at all. The only bike I found with better kit and specs was the Ibis Ripmo, and I don't know anyone with any experience on that bike, there are no local shops/dealers, etc. So it's kind of a gamble... The return policy on the Trek is amazing. If it sucks, I just bring it back. To me, after months of research (this is a LOT of money for me), the choice was clear.

The new version of this bike has a microshift 9 speed with a clutched derailleur, 180mm front brake rotor with better brakes, and bosses for easily adding hydro brakes. Look for the new version if you are considering purchasing.

I bought this and the ozark trail 700c gravel bike, the gravel bike was nice but the gears broke down completely after 1 day of riding so it’s trash, THIS BIKE HOWEVER OMG is the most AMAZING bike I have road and my god it’s fast, if you want a mountain bike do not hesistate, buy this!

I’ve ridden both and the reach felt quite a bit longer on the Mythique. Overall reach is slightly longer but then 10mm longer stem on top of that. I didn’t compare how far forward/back the seats were though so some of that could be just setup. Pedaling seemed more efficient on the Mythique. Rift Zone felt more planted to me.

my bleed port screw won't unscrew (on the front and rear calipers) I even snapped a torx trying to unscrew it any ideas as I even purchased a new one and that won't unscrew either! it's frustrating as hell

I just bought this bike on clearance at Walmart for $65 very happy with it still have to Go over it and get everything set properly.

This is one of those bikes if you're getting in the sport and want to make sure you like it this is your guy and if you don't like it you're not in that much money how to do the work that by the $3,000 bike and we went to the trails he did not want to do anything. And there was nothing like a real mountain bike park it was just in the trails
