The Terminator (1984) Movie Reaction - First Time Watching!

- Hello Everybody!
Today I finally watch the original Terminator movie and spoilers... it's a blast!
Starring:
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Michael Biehn
Written by:
James Cameron, William Wisher Jr., and Gale Anne Hurd
Directed by:
James Cameron - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Like Sarah said, "In the few hours we had together, we loved a lifetimes worth." She fell in love with Kyle's honesty, bravery and devotion - he gave his life for her and his unborn son - and it was clear he loved her fiercely.
john connor KNEW kyle was his father when he met him in the future, because sarah told him! thats why john was telling kyle about sarah and gave him the picture. because he knew he would send him back in time and kyle would fall in love with her there. and sarah was a bit idealising him because of the whole situation they met. but kyle was very different than every man she ever met in her live. he was true, honest strong, but at the same time sad and vulnerable. i buy it, that she fell in love with him.
"Those characters are going to die because they had sex..."
Thanks a lot. Now I have to clean the soda off of my monitor.
Well that's what happens in horror movies.
I think you have to clean something else off your monitor bruh...
Don't worry about it. We're all gonna die, whether we had sex or not.
"His motivation for loving her is from that one picture?"Well, one picture and the person he looked up to most was inspired by her, as was the entire Resistance to some extent.
Kyle and Sarah are soul mates joined together by “destiny” in its most technical sense: a temporal causality loop embedded in space-time. The greatest love story in film, IMO.
Well, Kyle was 19, a boy without childhood, all his life was the war, and Sarah, the mother of his leader, was so diferent, so unreal for him, so he fell in love with just one photo. But be sure, Kyle wouldn't deny to come back in past even if he wouldn't love her, course it was his duty to save Sarah and all the humanity.
Regarding the paradox, there's a deleted scene from the end of the movie where some factory workers find an advanced computer chip from the Terminator. Outside we realize the factory is owned by Cyberdyne Systems. Therefore, Skynet would have never existed if the Terminator wasn't sent back. It forms a perfect causal loop and is a testament to James Cameron's excellent writing.
100%
Wish it was left in. I'd loved an extended cut with all of the deleted scenes.
There's also the fact that Reese almost certainly fucked humanity into extinction by preventing John Connor from being born since there's no telling who the father was in the original unaltered timeline that experienced no future intervention.
There's an even bigger deleted scene where Sarah looks up Cyberdyne Systems in the phone book and convinces Reese they should destroy the factory. It wasn't a coincidence they ended up there.
T1 and T2 are some of my favorite movies, but I grew up with them and can't remember my authentic reaction too well. I envy you for being able to watch these with fresh eyes!
Linda Hamilton had a broken ankle, as she shoot the movie and still did all the running. Thats though and determination.
Her twin sister did the running
@@thegameslibrarian5264 no she didn't . Filming was rescheduled to account fir healing.
The better Paradox is that SkyNet created John Connor by sending a Terminator back in time to kill his mother before he is born.
😁
and also Skynet created himself, thanks to the T-800 smashed micro-chip which Cyberdine Systems recovers from the remains of the T-800 smashed by the hydraulic press, which tells new ideas and directions to Mikes Dison in order to create an AI to comands the millitary operations in the US Military department which is Skynet, its a full paradox
It's called a Predestination Paradox.
@@Resterminador Miles Bennett Dyson I believe is the name.
@@kinagrill or fate? Karma? Justice and revenge for the humans who've died so far. Billions+. Watch Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
@@jjkhawaiian No it's a literal Predestination Paradox. Look it up.
I LOVE first time reactions to this franchise... perhaps one of my favorite franchises. :D
Seriously, you are a natural at this. Not just the reactions but how you reflect on certain moments during the movie(s). The best things about your videos are your thoughts and reviews after each movie. So much better than most ”professional” reviewers.
The machine at the end was a mixture of stop motion and an animatronic puppet rig that someone wore on their shoulder. All close ups of the machine are a full sized endoskeleton, that’s why those shots look smoother.
Your reactions are the best... and do you know why? I feel like you respect and admire these movies, rather than make fun of them because they're old! 👍
I feel old watching younger people watch my childhood movies for their first time on youtube
Yep. And it’s great to know they don’t just watch superhero crap.
It’s weird being the same age as old people.
@@chrishanson995 It beats the alternative, which is dying young before you can appreciate the new generations.
@@billolsen4360 I hear you on that! I was thinking about how I don’t feel old, yet the numbers don’t lie! And it’s definitely a positive thing to not feel as old as you are. And I’m not even as old as I’m making myself out to be… I’m 41, but I feel 17! Mentally at least. Getting some creaks and cracks in the body.
@@chrishanson995 Great that you feel 17! I guess you're not the Chris Hanson from TCAP 🙂
You should definitely watch Terminator 2. Arnold is back and you would love it. T-2 is directed by James Cameron and the second movie is rated one of the best 5 movies EVER made! You need to see it. Great review!!
My Terminator 2 reaction comes out on Monday!
@@RolyPolyOllieReactions Awesome Man! Really looking forward to it. It's gonna blow your mind! 😁
Well 250 movie but it sound bad but top 50 was. A little higher
First terminator is still the best
@@jordanwright2313 terminator was better movie the graphics were great the story was great everything about the first one but better first very good not as good
"If they can change their voices, can they change their appearance?" Not yet, but just wait until Terminator 2.
The original Superman with Christopher Reeves also comes to Earth naked
Haha really? I have not seen that movie maybe I should watch that at some point...
**Reeve*
I didn't appreciate the love story aspect of this movie much when I was younger. I first saw this movie back in the 80s when I was a kid. As an adult, though, I love the beautiful tragic love story of it. Kyle Reese spent his life falling in love with a picture and the legend of Sarah Connor. Then the option to actually meet her happened, and he crossed time to do so, getting to meet the woman of his dreams, even if it was before she was the legend. Sarah fell in love with this soldier from the future, who was the only one who could protect her from this unstoppable killing machine. Kyle gave his life for her. And she would spend the rest of her life loving him.
He mentioned the picture to her, saying that she looked sad in it, and he wondered what she was thinking of at that moment. Then in the epilogue, we see the picture being taken. She was thinking of him at that exact moment.
The movie that catapulted Arnold to stardom! Onto the superior sequel Terminator 2! Also try the director’s other 80s masterpiece Aliens (have to watch Alien by Ridley Scott first).
Ummm no.. T1 is better... lol but i have no quarrels with T2 fans. Its clearly epic af. It was my fav too. But after watching both over the years. T1 is now more impressive to me, might just be the vibes & score of 80's
The Terminator is superior and is like 10/10! T2 is only like 9.99999999999/10!
Lol terminator 2 is good but superior? Na
Alien trilogy... Those Alien... 😏 Yes...
Not superior ! but what ever
i'll be back became his calling card..and in the last movie he broke my heart when he said 'this time i wont be back"
Don't feel bad. Only the first two matter, anyway. 😎
@@LennyCash777 that's true hey

If we can get Terminator 2 and, if you haven't seen it, The Back to The Future Trilogy.
Terminator 2 is coming next Monday!! I have not seen the Back to The Future Trilogy and it's definitely one I will react too soon!

James Cameron follow up, Aliens, is just as AMAZING!
There’s nothing to be ashamed about that you hadn’t seen it, it’s actually really cool you’ve been able to check out this movie! It’s pretty interesting and most people don’t know this movie was based off of a nightmare James Cameron once had. I love Arnold And Michael Biehn as the tech com soldier I feel like he’s underrated and should have more credit. This is a cool upload though! I’m glad you could check this out!
Part of it is based off a story by Harlan Ellison.
@@justinedse8435 That… I did not know. I’m going to have to check that out. Thanks man!
You know for someone as young as you, your taste in films, reactions, insights, and reviews are fantastic. There are only 2 reactors here that are the best and you're 1 of the 2 and deserve more views!
Dude I like your style. Got your snacks, dimming the lights according to the color scheme of the movie poster. You got a real unique way of reacting to content that is simple but very different than others I have seen on YT. You keep reacting and I'll keep showing up.
Thank you!!
The Terminator was the first major film James Cameron directed, and Aliens was his second. Prior to making The Terminator, James Cameron was broke, bordering on being homeless, and having MacDonald’s coupons mailed to him by relatives so he could eat. He got the idea for the movie from a fever dream in which he saw the endoskeleton of the terminator, which he drew after waking up.
Brad Fiedel wrote the music for the first two Terminator films. Notice how in this film, during the final confrontation, as the terminator becomes less human looking and as the story gets more and more like a horror film, the music gets more and more dissonant and intentionally uncomfortable as the scenes play on. Very good composing.
If you recall, Kyle Reese told Sarah how he always thought she looked kind of sad in the picture he had of her, and how he always wondered what she was thinking in that moment. That scene at the end of the film reveals that she looked sad because she was thinking about him and how he died trying to save her life and, as a result, would never know he was John Connor’s father. That’s a lot to take in from an audience perspective, and really great story writing. There’s a reason this film has stood the test of time (probably a few reasons, and no time pun intended).
First time seeing this movie? This is one of the best films ever made. Also T2 turns 30. I also grew up with the first two films and one of the best there is. There's not gonna be another great Terminator film after T1 and T2.
"This guy seems like a person, so I think he's... a person"
He's right ya know lol
“If you want to live, come with me,” was uttered by Arnold in T2. If the terminator could change his voices, he could shapeshift too, yep, in T2.
"If they can change their voices, can they change their appearances? Because, that would be cool."
:D My favorite comment!
Ya know the crazy thing? When the "War on Terror" started, the Air Force secretly approved a semi-autonomous defense supercomputer. Its name?SKYNET.
I really look forward to seeing more of these older classic movies reaction from you. Love the way you see them and talk about them. Keep it up :)
Thank you so much!!
Roly this one of my favorite movies back in the day! Glad you are discovering the series.
They can't be teleported back in time with clothes on, because clothes are not living like human flesh is.
your dog left because he didn't want to see the dogs die
Subbed. Love seeing my favorite movies through new eyes. Also, my kid loved Roly Poly Olie, so I watched it often. 😂😂
Great video! Man, I really could just listen to you talk for forever and a day. As far as the film goes, and I'm sure you've way figured this out by now, John Connor plays a pivotal role behind the scenes. At the end, when Sarah is making the tapes for John, she tells him the Kyle is his father and that John will have to send Kyle back. That's why John gives Kyle the photo of Sarah in the first place. Can you imagine how weird it must be to meet your father and send him back in time to meet your mother? Anyway, I love your videos. Thanks for taking the time and giving your viewers such great content. Peace!
There's a storm coming......
Arnold Ad-libbed the I'll Be Back line
The series about Sarah Conner is good too. Ends suddenly sadly, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
Nope, non-organic material can't travel through the time portals (unless covered by organic material), hence why no clothes.
I never understood : why not cover weapons with organic materials ?
Aren't most clothes made of organic materials?
It was essentially the first movie where JC was in control of everything he wanted, from story line down.
I'll be back for the next movie, but the volume of the film could be a bit higher.
I dont agree, because the focus of the video should be his reactions, and also he needs to be careful of false DMCA takedowns
@@quickdrawmcgraw3567
but his voice and the movie is overall a bit too quiet.
Just found your channel. Time to binge, keep up the great work friend!
Arnold originally read for the part of Kyle Reese, and the Terminator role was considered for O.J. Simpson, but he didn't get the part because he was considered to be "too nice."
That's a great fact to know!
From your comments about film im possitive wed get along lol also, your editing is very good.
Arnold is even faster than you think. The song "Burnin I the 3rd degree" is 3:38 mns long and had already started when she arrived and he gets there before the song ends. Thats fast.
Since your talking about liking Arnold ... you should watch "Conan The Barbarian" ... it's action packed and tells a classic Hero Journey story. Critics panned Arnold's acting in it ... but they were just wrong. He plays his character perfectly and the cinematography was amazing with a great supporting cast including James Earl Jones (Darth Vaders voice) as the antagonist. It's a fucking Tour De Force with a fantastic original score by the master Basil Poledouris who's score filmography is beyond belief ... It's an absolute must if you like Ahnold.
Yes! One of the great musical works ever... for movies or anything else!
Arnold was never the greatest actor in the world, but I think a lot of people reacted negatively to his accent and were overly critical.
The end of this movie is so emotional to me that it makes me cry every time now. Kyle was in love with Sarah because of a photo of her and the photo was taken when she was thinking about her love for him.
That was so great, reliving this masterpiece with you. First time seeing one of your videos, instant subscription. Love your insight and comments, you're a natural at this, I look forward to seeing you watch Alien and Aliens, if you haven't already. The sequel, Aliens is yet another James Cameron masterpiece. He shows respect to the original, doesn't violate cannon, and delivers a sequel that is equal to the original...
Terminator 2 is even better than the original, look forward to watching you get your mind blown.
Do you do music as well, hmmm, off to see your playlists..
5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! New favorite!
Thank you so much! Terminator 2 will be on Monday! I have seen alien and aliens which has gotten me really excited to watch T2 because James Cameron managed to deliver a sequel to film that expands on the original while still paying homage to it. He even made it still feel like an Alien movie even though Aliens is way more of an action movie compared to Alien which still amazes me and why it is one of my favourite Sci-Fi movies!
@@RolyPolyOllieReactions Another good sci-fi movie to put on the list is an adaptation of Robert Heinlein's "The Puppet Masters" with Donald Sutherland, also "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" 70's version..
Have you ever seen the sci-fi film "Silent Running" with Bruce Dern from 1972? Amazing for it's time.
Alien 3 was so bad and awful, not worth mentioning... but Alien 4 (Resurrection) had some worthwhile ideas and a great cast Sigorney Weaver, Ron Pearland, Winona Ryder, the script was good and surprising. A4 wasn't great, but it was worth seeing, imo... Looking forward to T2!!!
@@scottcortmeister4164 I have not seen any of those movies but they are definitely movies that I would be interested in watching. Thank you for the suggestions!!
Terminator 1: Horror Sci Fi. Terminator 2: Action Sci Fi.
Terminator 3: Garbage Sci Fi.
@@shyne187 lets hope, some day good T3 will be born......
Great reaction. I mostly agree with your thoughts at the end.
Now for terminator 2 judgement day
*Judgment
As far as all the Terminator movies go, in my world, only two exist.
It isn't two much a of a stretch to think of *The Sarah Conner Chronicles* TV show as the real continuation of the story. Good series that was canceled way too soon. Worth a watch.
In the first timeline, John's father would have been some random guy. Then he would've had a relatively normal life until the war.
Then Kyle would've been sent back to 1984 to protect Sarah and became John's father, creating another timeline where Sarah anticipates the war and tells John about Kyle, John gives Kyle the photo, Kyle falls in love with Sarah and volunteers to go back, which creates the timeline in the film.
Then Terminator 2 happens and creates another timeline. And that's all of the Terminator films.
Funnily enough, in "Salvation" and "Genisys" they did CGI this version of Arnold onto similarly-built actors!
And Dark Fate too.
Another great movie reaction. Keep it up man.
Thank you!!
I just subscribed.
Enjoying your reactions.
And love your t-shirt with balloons. 😊
Thank you so much!!
Subscribed. Just watched your T1 and T2 reactions. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!!
Grandfather paradoxes and branching timelines are a recurring theme in the Terminator Franchise as well as Cold War fears about nuclear holocaust and The Film`s themes also played a major role in the Y2k hysteria.
The best Terminator film. T2 is great but this is better.
Like this one best because it was low budget and you see things more "as they are," especially the "present LA", since I've lived there and the gritty side of the city is what I knew best.
have to react to terminator 2 as-well one of the greatest movies ever!!!
Reese almost certainly prevented John Connor from being born. Who was the father in the original timeline that experienced no interference from the future?
Can’t send clothes back in time. It’s explained in 2 (maybe 1) that only organic living tissue can be sent back. So no weapons, unless the weapon is also encased in living tissue.
Would have been a fun joke for a red-shirted guy in the Transporter Room of The Enterprise to push the "clothes come off" button when send Mr Spock and Capt Kirk down to a explore a new planet in Star Trek, though on Star Date 2022.4.1
Anything that is not living or not inside living flesh can not be sent back in time that is why they are naked when they travel back in time
If you havent seen Robocop, Aliens, Terminator, Predator, the first two movies are super fun in those franchises. Also True Lies and Starship troopers are great classics that still hold up if you havent caught them.
Starship troopers and true lies are definitely movies I’ll be checking out at some point!
Holy Shshit if you loved this, you're gonna love ALIENS.
Just discovered your channel and have saved many of your videos to watch at some point, looking forward to more to add in the future.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy them :)
Just because you called this a horror movie, you earn a new subscriber lol, I've been defending that The Terminator is actually a sci fi horror movie for years now
So glad you enjoyed this movie and I'm glad that I found your channel. I love seeing the quote-unquote younger generation find and watch these movies for the first time. I haven't washed your T2 video yet but it is next on my list. Also glad you found the Karate Kid. Make sure to check out the Alien franchise if you haven't seen them and don't forget Back to the Future. Oh, and Ghostbusters!
Also some interesting info for you, Lance Henriksen oh, the guy that played the white cop, was originally envisioned by James Cameron to be the Terminator and not Arnold. OJ Simpson was also looked at as a possible to play The Terminator. Another thing that little twist your mind is that the movie we see it's actually a third time line, you have the original timeline, then a second which slightly Alters the first and then this movie which will make a continuation timeline.
Thank you! I have seen both the alien movies and ghostbuster movies but my Back to the Future reaction comes out on Monday!
Arnold schwarzenegger was a bodybuilder before movies.
Arnold won the Mr Universe competition when he was just 19, with a little help from his "friends".
Your time travel commentary is wrong it doesn't create a *paradox* it creates an alternative timeline this is explained rather well in the *(back to the future)* movies
If you think about it, this is a horror movie not a sci-fi movie.
For some reason the ending was 100% scarier than the rest of the movie for me.
Never mind about my last comment about watching Terminator 2, i see you already did a reaction to T-2. Gonna watch it now! Lol I guess I've got some catching up to do
I tend to think that if a paradox where to happen, then that timeline would collapse on itself and the corrected timeline would be happening simultaneously and continue from that point. No one would know that the other timeline happened, because it has now been erased. Just my way of cleaning up a movie paradox.
Regarding the speed at which Sarah fell in love with Kyle, in 1993 I met a young woman at a camp retreat. We were instantly attracted to each other, spent the entire day (about 10hrs) just wandering the park & talking. We were definitely in love with each other at the end of that day & we didn't even have to escape any Terminators. The relationship ended in 1995, but it started that day. It happens.
I think Terminator knew that its right Sarah Connor, because the defender was came out and protecting her
It was also the only Sarah Connor in the phone book he hadn't killed yet. Just being thorough by killing them all.
Im pretty sure that 7.62 round either knicked or put a hole through one of kyle's lungs. It would explain his lack of breath and extream weakness.
It would’ve actually been a 5.56mm round since the gun Arnie was shooting was an AR-18.
Balls deep action got them killed
Check out Arnold’s “Commando” for a fun over-the-top action movie with lots of violence and good one-liners. For another good sci-fi Arnold movie watch “Total Recall”.
It's human nature when faced with death and destruction to reaffirm life and by extension love. THAT'S why a lot of children are conceived and born during wars. So with Kyle as Sarah's protector and the only 'sanity' in the death and horror surrounding her, it's just logical she would reach out to him to 'reaffirm' life with him. Same with Kyle, except his instinct was more "if I die, at least I've left a piece of myself behind." It's not necessarily love they have for each other, with Kyle telling her he loved her and she feeling strongly dependent on him, she may have TOLD herself she is in love with him, and Kyle fell in love with a PHOTO, a photo of a beautiful 'innocent' 'pure' woman, the only thing calm and innocent in the desolation of their world. Think about it, they are the ONLY ONES who can do this. They have to rely on each other to survive, everyone else will just be killed-it's a "it's-you-and-me-against-the-world" thing.
You also need to check out Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles (the TV series 2 seasons....)
The good news is it is a time travel saga so it doesn't matter everything Exist in multiple parallel timelines.... Nothing contradicts, And you can disregard anything you don't like.
Awesome Reaction, man!
Thank you!!
Great reaction. Thank you. 😊
Gotta Watch Terminator 2
I believe this WAS James Cameron's first film
One of the BEST Arnold films is The Running Man which is a take on the government, reality tv, and when Richard Dawson used to host Family Feud. James Cameron also did Piranha 2: The Spawning so…. Total Recall and True Lies are also amazing works of Arnold. There was a short lived Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles that ran for 1 season on FOX if you are a completist.
You can check out reactions to all of those Arnold films in my Arnold Collection playlist :)
Ok that was funny lol 😂
You were talking about how smooth Arnold looked. He could almost be cgi.
Break to ad lol smooth Lindor chocolates lol perfect timing
With all the jump scares and tense moments; you would think this was a horror film. HAHA. Seriously; one of my favorite 80s action/scifi film. 2 is also great, but on a totally different level
Great reaction. You should do scream next!
All time travel movies are technically paradoxed
Nice touch giving the Terminator a limp so the stop motion movements did not have to be fluid.
You talk about sci-fi movies that create paradoxes. Dude, THIS was the sci-fi movie that all other future sci-fi movies modeled their time travel paradox ideas from. 💡 Folks tend to forget this was 1984. Just sayn'. -OG
I have Subscribed, looking forward to more of your videos. I must say I agree with others and think you should increase the volume of the movie so we can hear it better.
I think you will like T2. Have you seen Alien?
😁
Another James Cameron movie is The Abyss.
@@tj_2701 I have seen Alien and The Abyss and love both of them! I also agree and I think I have fixed the audio for my T2 reaction on Monday
Very interesting to see someone react to the movie who knows very little.
The timeline is still fixed because if they didn't send Arnold they would never have existed because that's how they were created.
Loved the Terminator movies especially 1 and 2 didn't really care much for the other ones except maybe a little bit of Salvation and a little bit of Genesis that's about it one of the reasons that got into weightlifting Arnold now I'm pretty much the same size as he was in the first Terminator
I would say that Terminator 2 was the best
The second one is even better. Arnold Schwarzenegger is great as the T-101 model. Linda Hamilton was great aa Sarah Connor
