If JH is out performing SR during training camp, at the end of the day, he should be the primary backup to DC.
I agree but as we all learned from the Jameis Winston situation that doesn’t always happen.
I hate that we're at this point now. When rattler was drafted, I thought that majority of people understood that he will have to sit a year. Instead we got some people that are saying he's the franchise and others that are saying that he's trash and he hasn't even played in 1 preseason game yet. Let's see how he does during the preseason and let the rest play out

Jake looked good even his rookie year ( last year ) . Especially in preseason. I think some people might be underestimating him. He has an arm, he plays with a chip on his shoulder, he moves in and out of the pocket really well, he reminds me of Brock Purdy.
NOTE: If you follow the SAINTS, even casually, you would have seen people putting SR in the Pro Bowl as a rookie. Sad.

Haener was in a weaker qb class and don't forget that haener looked bad in the preseason last year. I still think haener is going to win the backup job but some of y'all are overrating haener also when it comes to being a starter in the NFL

I say it’s a minimum of two years from now that Spencer Rattler will possibly start most likely three because I see Derek Carr starting this season and next season for sure I do not see Derek Carr losing a quarterback competition he has never lost a quarterback competition in his entire career and that’s just facts but I do hope the best for Spencer Rattler hope he has a great career and I hope this time comes But it’s not now

When it comes to Rattler, I'm more interested in how he looks middle of training camp to the end of training camp. Vets, and yeah Haener is kind of a vet in the sense that he knows the organization and where things are and whatnot, start stronger than rookies and rookies sometimes close gaps because they are able to catch up. But I'd be worried too if we're talking about Rattler as a Day 1 starter. That's literally a recipe to ruin the dude.
Thank you. Haener has been going against these guys for a solid year. Rattler has had three practices and people are overreacting. I'd be more concerned if by the second preseason game he's still struggling. They also don't realize that Haener kinda sucked last preseason until the last game. Both have potential. We should keep both and let them develop.
No offenses that f you think rattler is ready to be a backup from what has shown maybe you need a break from reporting on the NFL. What he has shown he is a practice squad player at best he will be add to the exempt practice squad’s ad list

Not a 5th round prospect. He was rated as a 2-3 round talent. It's just all the QB needy teams took QBs and this class was very strong . Haener's class was weak. If Rattler was in Haener's class he would have been drafted before Haener who was drafted in the 4th simply because the lack of talent in the class.

I think it's far too early to say it's "proven". Like Rattler is a rookie. It takes time. Haener has looked better SO FAR, and if he continues to do so, great for him! I'd love it if BOTH Haener and Rattler could grow into amazing quarterbacks. That'd be a great "problem" for us to have.
Rattler has better tools mechanically and better arm talent. Haener isn't a rookie and that helps. But, you're right we can't say who's better right now. I just think Rattler has a higher ceiling and floor than Haener. That doesn't mean he's better right now.

Some people don't watch college football games, just highlights. Totally get that I guess. But Rattler is inconsistent in his play regardless of whether he had a good oline (Oklahoma) or a mediocre to bad oline (South Carolina). He's gotta learn and catch up to NFL speed which is a tick above SEC play. These narratives are getting ridiculous 😒...

@@kash.383The leap from college to the NFL is huge. The QBs who make it are very smart and very accurate like Drew Brees and Jake Haener. Rattler is neither. He has a strong arm but that’s it. Many strong armed college QBs never make it in the NFL. Carr is our starter and Jake is our future. Period.

I find it very interesting how Spencer Rattler represents the Saints fanbase’s only beacon of hope to be competitive in a few seasons, and the Saints media seems universally bound and determined to highlight Rattler’s struggles and to throw a wet blanket all over fans’ hope.

I think it’s a concerted effort to protect these fans who act like Rattler is our savior from getting their hopes up. I don’t hate the guy, I want him to succeed but until I see him compete, Carr is our guy.
Let's be really honest. Nothing in Rattler's tape from college or camp should convince you he's a starting QB in this league. He may eventually become one, but to pretend that he's some obvious franchise savior is delusional at best, dishonest at worst. Far more likely, our future franchise guy isn't in the NFL yet.

@@MosheGoldbergTheKing Idk if the rule is still in but it'll probably still be 3 this year for that emergency QB thing they allowed last year since that doesn't count against the active gameday roster

@@MosheGoldbergTheKing he doesn’t need to go to the practice squad. He can be on the 53 man roster and not count towards the 53. So you can technically have 54 players. This is why Haener wasn’t technically on the practice squad last year.
