It’s amazing that Chopra has achieved so much and still not thrown over 90m which might be required to retain his Olympic title in Paris.
Chopra needs to throw further. Even Latvian NR is higher then his PB.
@endijsblums7652 that doesn't mean much. Weather is a factor and a lot of these guys have bigger PRs in practice and just haven't had "that throw" in a meet yet
it doesn't matters that much the thing which matter is who performs best on that day !!!
Looking at the prospective field for Paris right now I doubt anyone is going to throw over 90m there. The 3 Germans who were throwing over 90m for fun are all out of them and struggling to hit even 80m in competition now. Same story with other 90m throwers like Julius Yego and Anderson Peters. The competition is going to be between Chopra, Nadeem (still recovering with injury), Vadlejch and Weber. Vadlejch and Nadeem have both thrown over 90m once but it's going to be tall ask for them to repeat the same at. Anything close to 89m might be enough for Gold.
Paris 2024 is gonna be one of the greatest and most intensely competitive Olympics ever as far as the Javelin is concerned.
hope to see Johannes Vetter return to the world stage this season. Along with chopra and peters, paris could become a unforgettable olympics in terms of javelin trowing
Peters is nowhere near his 2022 form anymore....not even close.
Vetter is also a question mark.....the likely protagonists in 2024 Paris are likely to be Neeraj, Vadlejch and Nadeem only
Not only is he setting the tone for India, he’s setting the tone for the whole region. India and Pakistan have a famous rivalry, seeing the Pakistani on the podium leads me to believe that the Pakistanis are just as inspired by Chopra’s consistency as the Indians are.
I absolutely love the field events highlighted on this channel!
2022 was a unique year in the Javelin with 7 different men throwing over 89m & 3 of them throwing over 90m and that didn't even include the great Johannes Vetter who should hopefully be back to his 97.76m best again!
97.97 with wind ,he can't even throw 85 m consistently
@@nps7742 You for real?! You are aware that Vetter has 17 throws over 90m right?!
That diamond league was insane, 88,59 only good enough for 4th :D
He is injured right now and hasn't even qualified for olympics now
Do some research before commenting
I watched the javelin finals at the World Championships finals in 2022., Although Chopra didn’t win, he was electric and charismatic, and was a favorite among spectators.
Not so
88.88 in China ?? what a incredible coincidence considering the symbolism of the 8 number there
Isn't it Uve Hon who trained him? No suprise he is so powerful.
What I love about throwing sports like javelin is that they aren't limited by body type... they are a physics problem that the human body can solve in all sorts of ways. I don't doubt Chopra can clear 90m, as consistently hovering around that 87-89m mark shows he easily has the capacity for it. If anything, I get the impression that he'd benefit from loosening up his form a bit.... the thing about the javelin is that (like a spear) it's actually about the finesse of your throw as much as the force, and when you look at 90+m throws they often look bizarrely effortless (relatively speaking anyway!). It feels like Chopra can sometimes (for want of a better phrase) try a bit too hard to throw with force instead of letting all that training, his muscle memory & the javelin do the work for him. Exciting stuff!
"they often look bizarrely effortless"
What I call the "sweet spot in time". When it all really comes together it feels like it's in slow motion and looks like it too. Timing and rhythm are everything.
Well, and that 89.94 proves to me he can throw 90, the only question is will he and when. Even a tiny perturbation in wind currents could probably get you 6cm.
Indian athletes been making their way into a lot of events recently nice to see track and field start to take hold in the country
they have over 1.4 billion people, its about freakin time.
That's facts, haha@@Brett733
@@Brett733I mean we do direct our energy to more towards the academic side rather than Sports while growing up so that's one reason, but that's gradually changing
@@AryanSingh-yy9mw I guess that explains why India is a super clean, prosperous country with lot's of well run infrastructure because they are all so smart. Yes I know about brain drain, believe me I live in Canada and every Canadian is well versed on the Indian Diaspora and I keep hearing that argument from the myriad of Indian's here with fake engineering degrees they bought. Don't get me wrong I know plenty of hardworking successful Indian people but they are largely outnumbered by useless social parasites who don't shower, don't wear deodorant, don't pay taxes and if they do work at all it is with no pride or professionalism. I hear this constantly as well from Indian people born in Canada.
His training is insane
His pound for pound strength is tryluly insane. But yeah , he may need to gain some weight to cross the 90. Once he does it, I believe he keep throwing over 90 in every competition like he does 88 now in pretty much every one
I will never listen to someone that spell truly tryluly
If they were to ever introduce a bodyweight to force production in Javelin, Neeraj would easily be an all-time great for his size-to-strength ratio.
But not even close to world record holder Jan Zelezny who had a even lighter body weight.
@@wilhelmw3455theyre useing different javelins nowadays. Weights differently. That record by Jan will never be broken with the new Javelin they use now.
@@hawjsta The javelins are the same you are referring to the era before current world record holder Jan Zelezny when German thrower Ewe Hohn set a world record which is no longer official therefore will never be broken because of changes in specifications of the javelin, even then the weight was still the same just the aerodynamics were altered which shortens the distance achieved.
@@hawjstayou definitely don't know what you're talking about😅
Nothing Chopra does in the weight room looks remotely out of the ordinary for any top 5 in the world athlete in an explosive event.
I really love these new javelin videos. It’s my favorite track and field event so seeing it get this attention makes me so happy
Awesome 😎😎😎
Thanks for choosing Niraj Chopra 😇😇😇

That thumbnail is insane, wow Chopra can REALLY twist his body into one big spring!
No wonder he is so good.

You are speaking from a pampered ivory tower perched on the declining precipice of a weak era in terms of masculine standards.
You have no genuine idea of what excellence is if you think this Chopra guy can compare to even Steve Backley let alone Jans Zalezney, he isnt even the best in his own era in terms of distances thrown.

It’s amazing to watch Chopra throw his entire body into his throws and then watch another guy look like he just walks up and tosses the javelin with no body behind it but come close to the same score.
He is shorter and lighter than other elite throwers. I'm no expert but I feel like he has more consistency and technique compared to other behemoths making him regularly hover around 88m. But that also signals to me that he might be plateauing and it might not be physically possible for him to breach 91m
Ive been an athlete for over 30 years and semi pro. like any other competitive athlete, the answer is always and mostly, "Its on the day or hope for a good day at the office or anything can happen"

BHARAT!!
Neeraj is consistently throwing in the 87 - 89 Mtrs range and let’s hope he throws 90+ in the Paris olympics to win the gold yet again.
I understand Chopra was teased about being a bit chubby as an adolescent. In response he worked out a training regime on his own and quietly worked his backside off. The results are obvious.
I am awaiting your next video on the greatness of double-world champion Anderson Peters.
He is only 26yrs old yet to hit his prime. Most Javelin throwers peak around 30yrs.

Chopra is in a sweet spot currently. Hard work + absence of Germans since 2021 has opened the field for him.
Vetter and Weber were in the Olympics brother where Niraj still came on top. His biggest strength is the consistency with which he throws between 87 to 89 meters in all the major events.
That's kind of true, but still he is more consistent than the Germans in the end. They are surely more powerful with bigger frames, but can't cross the 88-89 mark in every competition which can Chopra can stay at
Get to the Chopra! 💪🚁
Chopra is awesome but I'm super happy hearing someone from the Czech Republic.
Mr consistency.
Chopra is consistent, but can we talk about the Pakistani jav thrower looking at ease?! Every other javelin thrower is using their entire body and he just looked like he moved his arm and jav was like, "Aight, I'm about to head out."
Yes he can.

Chopra has the similar determination like Jan Zelenzy did during the 90’s. I am down that Chopra will come up to be a dominant athlete in the 2024 Olympics. God bless to our be loved Indian Javelin thrower.

Neeraj's build reminds me a lot of Allen Iverson with that "pound-for-pound" strength
Iverson was a lot more about speed and judging a defenders moves than actual power. He got bounced around like a ping pong ball and made shots anyway due to supreme body control, not power.
*Stockton was marginally bigger and definitely stronger. It's obvious from his defense. Something Iverson largely avoided because he didn't have the strength
90 meter distance will happen any time now
You presented this like he was out of this world phenomenal….. He ain’t even the best in his time. Why aren’t we hearing more about the guy that actually is the best in his time and can throw over 90m?

Total RUNNING productions makes videos about javelin throwers but completely forgets Courtney Dauwalter.
Get him on the sauce.
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA!!! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ✨️🎠🆒️😍
Curry sauce ?
😏
Can we talk about how the ideal form for javelin is apparently to flail sideways and faceplant on your arms after your throw?
it isn’t idea tho
It's basically to stop their forward momentum from carrying them over the foul line (that arc at the edge of the throwing area). You can get a decent run-up before releasing the javelin (10 meters or more), and while you're essentially trying to become a human ballista it's impossible to deliver all that momentum through your back & shoulder muscles into the javelin... hence the windmilling of arms & diving to the ground to stop your whole body just continuing in the same direction as the javelin.
Congrats to Chopra, the Pakistani man for being the first in his country to medal and to all other contenders. I hear Chopra likes eggs and chicken. I'll eat 4 eggs for every 50 word comment left and a Cb for every 100 word comment.

Chopra is gawesome, although he is quite a bit overrated, Jakub Vadlejch is going to take the win in Paris in my opinion, he is still a bit better than Chopra, even ended the 2023 season with the world lead
Performing at your best when it matters the most is a skill that 33yr old Jakub has yet to master!

Blah, blah, blah... Come back to us when he joins the 90+ meters throwers .
I'd rather take an athlete who consistently throws 88+ in every competition irrespective of location, over someone who hits 90 meters once and then spends the rest of the season sidelined with injuries.
Blah blah Olympic champion, world champion, diamond league champions,Asian champion, commonwealth champion , World jr champion (u20 record holder) blah blah without 90+

1:40 im sorry but I hope that you mean that he is one of the strongest javelin throwers. Cause if not then it's laughable as he couldn't even win most state competitions in powerlifting or Olympic lifting. Sure he is an insane athlete but he isn't a strength athlete. @TotalRunningProductions don't you think it is about time that you finally learn how to pronounce Jakub Vadlech? You've been butchering his name for years now...
This TRP channel knows how to milk content for views. Undeniably Chopra is the current best javelin throwers in the world. But the truth is his 89.94 is in the 41st position in history books record, number one is 98.48, so let alone the best in history, he is not even one of the best, so why make content that's is not aligned with TRP's niche. Simple, TRP is targeting the eyes of 1.4 billion Indians hoping to get views. There are many other athletes where the best in history is performing right now from Europe, North America, and other parts of Asia like for example wrestling, weightlifting, swimming, skiing etc. But no they specifically choose Chopra just for views even thought he is not one of the best in history...
He is world class due to his medals on the world stage, the distance he throws has nothing to do with that status. However, as your Freudian slip alludes to, it's hard to get excited about an athlete who is happy to compete only against his contemporaries.
There comes a point in every athlete's career when he has to start competing against standards previously set & upheld, & if he fails to accept that challenge he deserves little or no global acclaim.
If my mathematics are correct, an Indian athlete with 8 million followers on social media is per capita the same as a Canadian athlete with 57 followers on social media. It means nothing & it certainly doesn't qualify them as being "Stars", no matter what their sponsors would like us to think.
His following on social media is predominantly due to India being now officially the worlds most populous nation.
This is simply stupid just because India has a much larger population doesn't mean 8 million followers suddenly becomes less impressive than 57. In hard numbers he is still hitting 8 million more people and influencing them. You're trying to do a per capita for influence when that doesn't make sense. Lu Xiaojun only has 329k followers on instagram. With your calculations that would be like 2 and a half followers for a Canadian athlete does that mean he's never been a star in weighlifting?
@@edglhys6075
What is simply stoopid is someone declaring "influence" upon 8 million of his neighbours simply because you label him or accept that he has been accurately labelled an "influencer"
Who exactly has he influenced & how has he influenced them ?
Has India now got 8 million more Javlin throwers then it has weight lifters, whatever the hell weight lifting has to do with it I dont know !
The hard facts are that he dpesn't even have 1 % of his own nation following him on social media & he has even less than that in Europe, Oceania & the Americas.
How influential can he be globally with those numbers ?
Not very, is the answer yer looking for.
He is only potentially "influential" if you have something you want to sell to an 8 million or in real terms less than a 1% slice of the Indian population & the Indian population alone ?
@@wilhelmw3455
Yea I kno.
If you fart in India 40 million people get to smell it.
@@SPIDERM0OSE What a dumb take. The vast majority of Indians are NOT spending their time on social media. Only the urban population, which comprises about 15% of the total, are active users. In that sense, the effective followers per capita is more than Canada. Your mathematics is wrong!
"Who exactly has he influenced & how has he influenced them ?"Oh, you know, just a tiny impact. After his win, the entire nation has become a hotbed of athleticism, with brand-new infrastructure and investments rolling in coupled with interest for various olympic sports. Who would've thought? The numbers speak volumes, or so they say.
"How influential can he be globally with those numbers ?" -- He has inspired an entire generation to invest their time and effort into athletics and sports, in a nation which has traditionally veered away from these areas due to insecurity of the profession and historical lack of funds and amenities. Young people look upto him and so do athletes from other sports.
But of course, he's probably too busy counting sheep while the thought of "influencing people globally" keeps him wide awake at night. The struggle is real for him, I'm sure.
"Has India now got 8 million more Javlin throwers then it has weight lifters" -- Once again, a dumb take. Athletes don't just appear with the snap of a finger. It takes years of time to nurture them and invest in them and for that the right infrastructure is required. The investments that have happened because of him will bear fruit 10 to 15 years from now. Hell, the top 6 in the World Athletics Championships had 3 Indians in it when not event 2 years have passed since he won the gold!
