Thank you for this video! I’ve just turned 56 and haven’t worn makeup for about 10 yrs.
I’ve decided it’s time to come alive and learn some new easy makeup applications. This is by far the best video I’ve watched in my search for something easily explained and easy to do. I’m going to a wedding tomorrow and will do my best to duplicate what you have shown. Thanks again 💕

It sure the heck ain’t like putting makeup on in your 20 & 30’s! lol They say time flies and I just didn’t believe them darnnit! lol again. I can’t believe we have kids 40!

Dominique, thank you so much for these tips! I'm 62, and was stuck in a rut with my makeup. I had just about given up even putting makeup on, because it didn't seem to do what I needed it to do for me. Now I'm learning new techniques that suit my style, looks, and age better, and I feel 100% prettier and more confident! I will be trying out several of your techniques, and I just know they're going to help me look my best. I love your attitude; you have inspired me.

But now it's time to use some of your tutorials to relearn. To be thankful for that second chance. I live in the deep South. It seems all the native women have that made up to the nines look all the time. Even when the humidity is 100%. But they absolutely will not share beauty tips passed down through the generations. So yours help me so much. Thank you for that. I just love your positive aura as well.

Love it! I was a professional make-up artist for fifteen years (starting in the early nineties) and worked predominantly in the music, film and television industries and yet I LOVE watching make-up tutorials on CZcams. So much has changed in the make-up arena in the past fifteen years since I was at the top of my game (and left to raise kids) and I just love watching all you glam, older CZcamsrs doing your thing. Thanks for the representation 👍🏻(can't be doing with all the younger peeps and their heavy-handed approach to make-up)

I have watched hundreds of CZcams videos and have never commented on one. I guess I am just more of a watcher than a talker. I have to stop right now though, and just let you know how absolutely amazing you are! There are many channels that I follow that cover a whole range of topics. They are all wonderful! You are a cut above them all! Absolutely stunning both inside and out. The radiance and positive attitude that you give off is just incredible. I always feel just a little bit better about this world after watching one of your videos. I am a wife and mother making my way through my early 30s. As a painter, I find makeup tutorials to be really informative & inspirational to watch. This is the second video of yours I’ve watched and I just wanted to say, you’re a great artist - the way you approach makeup as an art, and the face as a canvas. But I also wanted to tell you (and this is a huge, huge compliment, not a negative comment about your skills as an artist), I actually think you look ten years younger without any makeup. You have gorgeous big bright eyes and amazing skin, and I think all you really “need” is mascara, blush and maybe a little very light lipstick. Don’t get me wrong, I love makeup. But without any, you could pass for early to mid-thirties. (It shouldn’t matter, but that’s a whole other dissertation, lol!)
And thanks again for the inspiration!

You're so right. Women over 40 in general need to be careful with makeup because too much makes them look older then without makeup. Also no offense but some of them look like drag queens. This woman in the video made herself look a lot older too with that makeup.

Looking good takes a little bit of time and effort, which means you can't just roll out of bed and go to work. You have get up 10 or 20 minutes earlier and make the effort. Find the products, tools, and routine that work for you and your budget - then just do it. Every day I see women where I think, "Girl, did you forget to wash your face and brush your hair before you left the house this morning?" It only takes me 15 minutes to fix my hair and face in the morning, and I like to look good for work and for myself. Dominique simply presented the tips that work for her - she is the ultimate professional and she always looks beautiful. Thank you, Dominique!

As a makeup artist, I have to say this video is just amazing, very detailed in the way you broke it down, and the tips that you said are exactly the way I would use to my clients, less is always more, I loved the fact that you didn't not cake on the contour and highlight, too many young women and you tubers think it's awesome putting half a tube on their face when in reality they are only ageing their skin more, because putting too much concealer under their eyelid is way too heavy, our bottom eye lid is the most sensitive and super thin piece of skin on our face, and the way you did your highlighting was perfect, I actually mix my bb creme with my cocoa butter skin oil and I apply it on my face as it helps with locking it the moisture but it also help even out my skin tone, as in winter we are more dry. Your a beautiful lady and you did great.

Subscribed today after watching 2 videos. But--stopped wearing makeup about 20+ yrs ago, except a little to accentuate eyes. (Hated the feeling of something on my face, and bathed it off ASAP, after an event.) Quit spending time in sun decades ago, but also lost ANY know-how at all about products, & how to use them, such as the way she applies the products, doing a brush etc, am completely clueless. Have decent skin, no blemishes, moles, or spots from aging or sun, but it's SO much paler than hers so it will make the hunt for these products much more difficult. Have a friend in FL, who tried to talk to me about BB and CC creams a few years back---could not understand what they were. Yesterday looked it up and now, I do understand better. I like the cream and liquid makeup, but afraid of powder bc afraid it will collect in places.. Wish her demo here were a little longer with more mini tips for beginners. All I wear at present after cleansing is moisturizer, with one of 3 very pale gels for "blush" color, where the sun would cause a little color, on cheekbones, etc, but minimal, & no foundation. Only use the colored gel to give appearance of having been in sun bc of pale skin, still I'm SO pale. Cause of no foundation, skin appears bare, except a lil cream eyeshadow, which I'm having a very hard time finding. Don't want powder shadow as it will also collect and lump. Can someone put a link to ANY OF HER OTHER VIDS OF APPLYING MAKEUP, & whatever cream or liquid products she uses for face, eyes, and so forth? I'll be checking them out myself as well, searching her content.
. I do use Retin-A on regular basis for exfoliating. Thanks to all of you polished ladies. ☺ I want to look polished too! This is first makeup video on YT which really inspired me. Wish my skin were darker, so I could just buy exact same products, but I'm so pale; so hoping they come in lighter tones.

I am 65 and pretty much do what she is doing, but not in the same order, plus I don't use the brushes, I use my fingers, to blend, I start with a good face cream all over the face, then I dot on a creamy vasoline product around the eyes, up and down, and around the mouth, then I put on the foundation. It is amazing how the vasoline protects against wrinkles, used on a daily basis, then I use the blusher, the lipstick, the eye shadow, the eyeliner, and then the mascara. Of course the most important thing is keeping your skin as clean as it can be, do a face mask every week, and also use an expholiator.

    • @cutzymccall7675

    • @sawilliams0803
      @sawilliams0803 Před 6 lety +2

The upside to using brushes vs fingers is you’re not rubbing any dirt and oils into your face that can be on your fingers, I used to do that too and once I switched to the brushes it really made a big difference. I also feel like I use a lot less product using the brushes and sponges than I did when using my hands. I would suggest just buying one decent brush doesn’t have to be top of the line and super expensive and see what you think.

I know this is old but I just stumbled on it. One tip I have for mature makeup application that I’ve learned recently is that after applying foundation and concealer is I spray a beauty blender with setting spray and blot that all over my face. It sets the base before applying the powder and keeps things from settling into fine lines and keeps the powder from looking cakey. I’ve I’ve even sprayed an eye shadow brush with the setting spray and tapped it over my eye shadow to help set my eyeshadow into place afterwards.

This was my first time watching one of your videos & i must say that im very intrigued! I've loved everything about make up for most of my life but have recently started to lose some of my motivation for it. I will be 40 next year, & didn't realize that there comes a time as we age that we must reinvent the way we've been applying makeup & even the shades we use & products we choose. Your video has given me some much needed inspiration, and i now realize that it's time for me to embrace a whole new mindset when it comes to make up, due to the fact that im no longer in my twenties, & the fact that my skin has definitely gone through some changes since then. Thank you so much for allowing me to be able to return to something I've always had a passion for, & also for allowing me to realize that i don't have to give up my passion for makeup just because I'm getting older. I now know that its not about giving up on makeup...it's just about reinventing my approach because I'm now working with a different canvas than i was in my more youthful days.

My own beauty secret is a cheap one, I can't afford much and at the age of 52 I have great skin for my age but I do take care of it. I want to invest in a serum when I can but for now I have something that really helps my skin: pure aloe vera gel! You can get Good Earth aloe vera gel at the Dollar General, it's cheap and so effective! I find that it plumps and smooths my skin, I use it every night alongside toner, retinol cream and in-season moisturizer; I use the Burt's Bees heavy-duty moisturizer with clary sage for winter (using it now), the lighter moisturizer in spring and fall, and a water gel in the summer. I have basically normal skin, slightly oily forehead mainly in summer and a bit drier in the winter. Thanks for the great video, gonna be trying this look out!

People my age are always asking me how I keep my skin so smooth and wrinkle free. When I tell them what I use they immediately start their "you shouldn't use that, it's so bad for your face" montage and I just laugh at them. They probably spend thousands of dollars on expensive face creams and I just use Eucerin (the heavy cream one that comes in the big jar) and it lasts forever. Seriously, one large jar can last close to a year and that is with me using it every single day. It is extremely thick so I put a small dab on the palm of my hands and rub them together to melt it a bit and pat it all over my face and neck. It works wonders and costs me around $14 a year.
Oh, I forgot to mention I am also 53.

Excellent job in describing the steps in your routine. However, you already have a beautiful dewy complexion and great eyebrows before you started, and I commend you on that. I have thinning eyebrows and what you did with the powder(?) to yours was a great tool to use. You are so right that as we get older, because I notice lighter foundations, powder, and lipstick seem to perk up an aging face. I chuckled when you said 'apples on the cheeks". I so remember my great aunt did just that back in the 60s, ha. Thanks again!
