I like how Rudy's Jeep is just adequate for this, and he goes full "hold my Mountain Dew" with every obstacle.

I have noticed that Rudy’s Jeep hangs with the banana and Morvair and often is the one called to help them out. Never seen Paul need to get pulled out in the Yota :)

The reason it looks like Rudy is having a hold-my-beer moment on every obstacle, is because he must hold his wide-open to get past said obstacles.

With a little planning, preparation and especially DRIVER SKILL, a not too modified 33" tired rig can make it. We got a 31" Fourunner through the 'Con but winched quite a bit. People at Rubicon Springs kept asking how we got it through! Don't take a new vehicle in though, unless you don't worry about some damage. The Rubicon can almost GUARANTEE AT LEAST a little damage one way or another.

The bonus is there's a part store at the end as long as you aren't alone (and that's a horrible idea) someone can make a parts run if you can limp into town you can fix it in the motel parking lot

Driver skill makes a huge difference. This trail changes a little every year after the winters. They've even dynamited parts of the trail. It used to be a bit 'smoother' many years ago. Before the 'Con was so popular, a guy I worked with actually drove his Baja 1000 2wd race buggy through there. He's a pretty crazy guy and has a bad limp to prove it!

Awesome! Glad y’all had fun! Yeah, Fordyce has quite a few water crossings with that cold snowpack water! Good call not to try it when PG&E does releases. One thing to watch out for on Fordyce is take a topo map as there’s a lot of off shoots that can get you lost. I know from experience. 😂
