  • This 1949 Willys Jeepster was purchased by my late grandfather in 1958 and painted in 1959. My father remembers driving it in 1975 and it's been in storage ever since! Let's see if we can get it running and back on the road! This one is NOT FOR SALE!! As always, thanks for watching!

Well there was some snow and some heart touching moments but it's no Hallmark series! The Willys pickup was just the guy who was storing the Jeepster for the last 21 years so we probably won't be seeing that one on the channel anytime soon! Thanks for watching and commenting Glenn!

So cool to finally meet your Dad! He is about my age. I had a 1947 CJ2A Jeep back in the early 1970's that I kind of restored, well, got running and drove around for a while. This video is quite interesting to me. Brings back lots of early Jeep memories! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a great year ahead.

Not bad at all, the mention of grandpa brought a tear to my eye I wish I could have spent more time with mine. The kindest loving person who would just smile at me and we did spend time together most summers growing up, taught me how to tie my shoes and shave that covers some years. You certainly have a great family my pops is gone so is mom and I just don't have the same interest in life that I once had, not so many years ago. Been through a grip of life changes I'm 8n my 60's, still got a bucket list and some foals I want to occomplish so haven't given up yet. Glad to find your tube man it's cool.

Hey Mortske & Duff. That was an outstanding video. Really cool to see you and your dad work together. Lost my dad when I was 19. I am a 1955 vintage by the way. Guess that makes me 2 years older than your dad. That's quite a lineage you have when it comes to hotrods and mechanical stuff in general. I met a guy that owned a Conoco station near where I lived. I was around 13. His name was Donovan Crandall. He was an ace when it came to anything automotive and fabricating. I loved shadowing him. He taught me the trade hands on making mistakes as I learned. By age 14 I was rebuilding engines. My first rebuild was a Ford 272 Y-block. Hand cutting ring ridges and grinding valves and seats and knurling the guides. I even learned how to file down knurled pistons to fit. I've probably changed hundreds of points & condenser sets in my career. I still have the AC Delco dwell meter Don gave me in 1970. Merry Christmas to you and Duff. Thanks.

I started selling firewood to make some extra cash during the winter months so my stump was sacrificed for the greater good. Selling firewood is how I plan on buying vehicles like you do. I'm fortunate to live in an area where I can take my modified 1988 Bolens garden tractor behind my house to cut deadfalls. Last year I cleared enough profit to buy my first pro 60cc saw. I bought a Husqvarna 562XP. Now I can cut larger trunks instead of leaving them in the woods. I was going to buy my first project car this winter but my wife got Covid and we had to rely on the extra income from firewood sales to get us through Christmas. I don't mind being patient. I live in Michigan so vehicles here are in a similar condition as the ones you find there. That makes them cheaper 😁 I appreciate all of the work you put into sharing your projects with us. It motives me and I learn a lot. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Very cool old rig! The surfers back in the 60s drove these, a common sight at the beach back then. Definitely worth restoring. 👍 I've even seen them for sale on Barrett Jackson.

Great to see you and your dad working together! Awesome that you got it running and driving, your grandpa would be proud to see it on the road for sure! I'm pretty sure Duff would do half of the work if he had thumbs! I think that's what he's trying to tell you half of the time. Great video, I like the feature length, awesome! Have a Merry Christmas and as always looking forward to the next adventure! Watch out for those fan blades too!!

Love watching your videos taking it back to basics with the cool old school cars. I know this is an older video. I just finished watching it and loved the video!!

Grandfather's are the best. Mom's Dad passed a month before I was born so I didn't know him. Dad's father was who I learned a lot from. Fishing, crabbing and boats were Pop's forte. That and drinking Ortlieb's. He was a Chris-Craft guy. Had two different 24' cruisers. He passed when I was 18. I miss you much Romano.

Back in the old days, I'm 75, we used to flush radiators and blocks with straight lye. We'd run a can of Red Devil and water through the system for 1/2 hour or so they flush with a hose till it ran clear and repeat if necessary. I love the epic long vids; it's better than watching a movie.
Looking forward to the next one.

My Grandmother had a 1969 Jeep Jeepster years ago that we plowed snow with for years. The one she had had a hard top and a v6 Buick motor with a 3 speed on the floor. It was a shame it sat outside for years and rusted out. The only thing we managed to salvage was the motor and trans, the motor was later transferred to a 1976 cj7.

I’m digging those square sockets!as I too, own those square easy outs and agree with you on which ones are generally better to use.
However, I also own round easy outs too and believe they have their place!
Use CLR or Limeaway for coolant fire up the engine and allow engine to warm up a little then let it sit long enough to remove the rust clogging the coolant passages.
Also marvel’s mystery oil is your friend when Unsticking a engine by filling each cylinders and leaving it for a week or so.
Potentially even CLR to remove rust from those Cylinders!
You mentioning the importance your grandpa’s had on your life caused some dust to get into my eyes thinking about mine and my Dad as they played an important part of my life!

We had a '46 4-63, 2-WD station wagon. That passenger front seat back should fold down and the entire seat should fold forward. Starting: mechanical choke and throttle. Pull out your choke, a little pull on the throttle, then your foot on the starter. That electric (?) overdrive is like gold. Enables you to make speed on the Interstate. Yours also has an oil filter, mine did not. We added a Franz filter, which used a roll of toilet tissue as the filter. Narragansett Bay
