To quote Gordon Mah Ung, "this is NVIDIA's world. We just live in it." NVIDIA held its painfully long 2-hour keynote at Computex 2024 (#computex) this year, talking about AI, creating 3D avatars for customer support jobs and nurses, and talking about... well, nothing, really. NVIDIA did have news, but it didn't announce it at the keynote in any meaningful capacity.

You realize Jensen will steal that for next year....
Speaking of IT support bots - my GF works at an IT support place and they were trying AI bots "for simple issues". The bots were so wrong they always created additional work. Meanwhile the company looked at the results and decided to continue forcing AI bots to "help" the assistans. Can't make this shit up.
Your GF should start hunting for a new job-she's in a no-win scenario:
1. If the bots ever get good (likely from being trained on the support tickets she resolves), she's facing layoffs
2. If the bots _don't_ get good, the manager who procured the contract will say that the humans are the issue to cover his butt, and your GF will just be fired.
No matter how good an AI, I sincerely doubt it'll be able to do a broader IT support job role.
Why? Because the people calling you don't know why they're calling you 30% of the time, and don't know what they even want 50% of the time, nor do they know how to tell you in anywhere near a logical or straight forward manner what the problem is 70% of the time. I don't see how it would be possible to train an AI to understand that "My computer is freeze" means "I forgot my password" 20% of the time.
Also, AI is pretty good at catching names over the phone; but matching a complicated surname to a specific name in your database.. Thaaat's probably quite tough and you'd likely have to use an employee ID system that 50% of those said employees don't even remember.
While AI CS definitely can and has turned into a thing; Internal IT support... Tough. You get too many random ass issues explained in roundabout ways from people with complicated names using "keywords" like "access" where the meaning can range anywhere from "my internet is down" to "password problem" to "Printer issue".
While some dumb higher ups will most certainly try to stop paying your wage by looking into AI; there'll most certainly be jobs open considering tech ain't getting simpler for the user together with the user not ever getting any smarter/more interested in the tech.
Can concour. My company wants to deploy AI to assist first-level support by effectively relaying questions to our ticket database - because apparently the ticket system we use - a custom one - can't...search? o.o
It's gonna be rough...
I dont understand the purpose of these ai FUD posts. Are you implying ai will never improve from where its at today?

In regards to AIs. I had an interesting experience about a week or two ago. I was calling a health insurance company about a work related matter. Instead of the usual push this number for this and that number for that an AI assistant picked up the phone (note: I am in Slovakia and it was speaking the local language perfectly). It asked me to summarise why I'm calling in one sentence. Than it repeated that it can't understand me when I only sighed into the speaker trying to formulate a sentence. I eventually gave up and put down the phone. Once I came up whit said sentence I called again. This time the AI assistant told me that since someone just called from this number I would be automatically connected to an actual person. And then it asked me about three times if I wished to keep waiting in line or if I wanted them to contact me once someone was available. (Yes, this seriously happened.😐)
"Shako when the walls fell." That was one of the best Star Trek - The Next Generation episodes ever.
Nvidia's goal is to create an AI so powerful that it can translate whatever the fuck Jensen is doing into something we can understand.
They are years away.
Regardless of how far they are from perfect AI at least they actually do innovate. They are miles ahead of the competition for gaming GPU performance. Sure you pay a little more but you also get more too Nvidia's 4090 has hardly any competition and when AMD catches up Nvidia is just releasing new GPU's that are far better. Since Nvidia started RTX cards they have more than doubled performance in a single generation before and I think it was the 3070 but when that GPU released it was "a little better than the 2080 Ti" and in most scenario's both GPU's were close to each other in performance and Nvidia ALSO released a "XX90" graphics card for the first time in that generation so it was technically an even greater jump in performance even though the new XX90 series did cost more than what the previous years and at the time current years XX80 cost. AMD just sucks at making GPU's which is one of the main reasons why Nvidia cards are more pricey but at the same time I assume maybe some of that increased price also goes in to RnD. As soon as AMD starts to show signs of competitiveness Nvidia just releases something new or puts their current stuff on sale or offers free games with the cards. AMD needs to make some sort of monstrous leap to even begin to compete and the Nvidia monopoly on Ray Tracing and AI and graphics compute is so strong that a bunch of random companies including AMD have teamed up to try and create something that can compete but I still think it will not do as good. LITERALLY when the 2000 series came out from Nvidia they just said fck it were done with rasterization and are putting all our focus on Ray Tracing, DLSS and AI and will just make everything else obsolete and not update anything in that area and literally one of the 3 or so non RTX GPU's released since the first RTX GPU was announced was literally just a cheapo one meant for mostly pre built computers like you would probably see in schools for IT classes as an alternative to integrated graphics. Nvidia is a company that forces new upgrades from their customers which is part of the reason why they are as far ahead as possible. AMD is always trying to make sure backwards compatibility is good and Nvidia just wants to make sure that the latest CPU's will not be bottlenecked by their GPU's and not give a damn about older stuff
@@zahidshabir4038Thats a good way of saying a whole lot of nothing. 🤣
Also not really seeing how good the Rx 6000 series was. NVIDIA practically owns the concept of GPU content creation, seeing as mainstream software is practically built around NVIDIA.
In gaming AMD "had" parity in 4k and was better in 1440p, in content creation 26-32% less. Real raytracing is a few generations away for even NVIDIA let alone AMD's lousy imitation. Now NVIDIA's 4000 series only justifies the 4080-90 given the religious shifting of lower end dies to higher GPU's still impressive tech wise but lame overall.

Google is already kicking off the negative feedback loop. By scraping the internet for answers to questions regarding new problems (new games, new TV shows, the news, etc.) and serving it up without sending the user to the primary source, the primary source loses revenue. Primary sources losing revenue means that there are already declining primary sources. As primary sources decline and disappear, the LLM has less and less 1) relevant, and 2) accurate response for queries. There really is no reverse for this, because new primary sources cannot rise, as they will not have reliable sources for revenue to operate. Eventually it'll just be useless answers for search queries provided by an LLM sourcing the info from another LLM, or just providing word salad of its own.
just like how landlord's rent is too high for business to operate, eventually causing business to shut down, and the whole economy grow slower and slower.

Also Jensen:
“Here is the new rtx 4080 for 1200$ with 50% more performance for 70% more money”
AMD is just terrible at making GPU's so Nvidia can easily get away with slight price hikes ESPECIALLY when they are so good at making GPU's that a freaking base 3070 outperformed a 2080Ti and the 3000 series was the first to have a XX90 GPU meaning that in that specific generation the 3070 was actually 2 steps lower in the chain and was now more like the equivalent of a 2060 in terms of pecking order from the highest version going down because there was a 3070 Ti, 3080 10GB/12GB, 3080 Ti and 3090/90Ti above the card in that generation. Even the 4000 series although the performance jump was not the same the 4090 was still like twice the speed of the 3090Ti. Even when the generational improvements are terrible compared to the previous one Nvidia is still making huge leaps. AMD is literally just learning from Nvidia and when they get close Nvidia is making more jumps. It's like Nvidia is like 5 steps ahead of AMD when they release a new flagship GPU but when AMD is like 2 steps behind nearing 1 step Nvidia comes out with new stuff and again goes 5 steps ahead. They don't even want AMD to be sniffing their back let alone walk side by side or ahead
@@zahidshabir4038AMD has been fighting with their arms and legs behind their backs because Nvidia has been able to (probably illegally, i feel time will tell but it already is waaaaaayyyy more than to late anyway) buy their way into gaming to not only get ahead but also hamstring AMD. (cuda is horrible, open source is key!)
@@zahidshabir4038It's not that AMDgpu = bad, it's that they have the market power, and occupy the consumer headspace. Because of the /assumption/ that AMDgpu = bad.
Not saying that is always equal or whatever, but for most people, it could go either way as for as actual needs.
Marketing, (and tons of SKUs) often means that viable AMD options aren't considered. Add to that the way scalping proved how much ppl are willing to pay for overkill or marginal improvement (depending on what the case may be).
And both companies learned from that last one regarding pricing.
Though for me it's personally academic for pricing and that I mainly use Linux, so Nvidia isn't even on the table.
@@zahidshabir4038 You are late. Like a couple years late. We have had that discussion already: nVidia shifts down what it sells in terms of silicon while keeping the prices and marketing up, even increasing them.
16:15-22:15 in AdoredTV's "nVidia - a new high in low morality"
Meanwhile AMD does just enough to aim and have a response against nVidia... yet always missing the crown. To their own marketing detriment, nobody looks up to their halo product, which in my opinion affects all the lower tier marketing and buyer mindset.
@@Grandwigg AMD is only good for those who cannot afford a high end GPU whilst also not giving a damn about ray tracing and AI related stuff. If you care about those types of features Nvidia is far better but I do agree that when it comes to cheaper GPU's there is decent competition due to the fact that for AMD to even be able to compete they need to at least have comparable performance in the price category they are selling the GPU for which they try to do

Then I was like, "oh yeah like 3 firms own all 80%+ of all the chain stores now, so why bother spending money on making sure they are good for the customers?! Where else are they gonna go? I didn't expect Jensen to be the one to tip the world into apocalypse.
That's what scares me, dude used to love gamers back in the day, now all he cares about is money.
@@Dwayneff Did he change or did your view change... 🤔
Never trust a guy with a warehouse full of leather jackets.
@@MacGuyver85 He changed, I still buy nvidia. I love my RTX 3060 ti, before that was a 1660 super.
The intro to this video gave the keynote worth.
Steve, you are the goat...
So awesome to see the collab in this video.. freaking epic.
Thank you, Tech Jesus.
Remember when companies didn't hold keynotes, hours long, just to announce basically nothing? Remmeber when companies were acrually able to make press releases and have news on their website?
Nowadays when you look on the "press release" site of some big companies the last update was somewhere between 20012 and 2017
I think Jensen considers himself a motivator and a leader which is why he mixes in those stupid "if you build it - they might come, if you don't build it, they can't come" snippets that he seems to completely butcher. He's none of those things.
all these guys want to be like stevey jobs
Jensen is a salesman. He can talk and negotiate about prices. He isn't a good rhetorician, nor does he have a good (public) leader persona .
But that isn't actually a problem, considering who he, who Nvidia really needs to reach to make the huge profits they make.
Who does Nvidia need to reach? The (software) engineering and procurement departments. Neither of them are bothered about Jensen rambling the whole day on some fancy schmanzy event. One is caring about the actual systems (and related software APIs) they need to accomplish the goals the upper floor sets them, the other is just caring about costs. Both of which wouldn't give a damn about some Steve Jobs or other stage persona...
Frankly, the only thing i wonder is _why_ Nvidia thought they needed to make a "keynote" show like this. The customers (both existing and potential) in their main market doesn't give two sh*ts about shows like these, so what gives...?
That intro was the most deliciously nerdy thing I have ever seen and I love it so much lol
Love your intros like this one! Did not expect to hear Steve speak German, had to do bit of a double take
Like that scene in Elysium when he's trying to talk reason with his "parole officer"....
Exactly, dealing with the actual people/customers is expensive, so it’s the dream of every big corp to cut that cost to near zero with AI. If everyone does it then thats what the customer will accept/have to accept. Dystopia , where regular people will be treated like trash. Only the rich will have the privilege of actual human customer care
"Shaka when the walls fell" sent me lol
😂❤
I watched that episode yesterday and lost it because I didn't expect hearing that again outside of watching Star Trek
I love wendel's out of pocket reference to a random startrek race
I had to look up a game guide for an old retro game I was trying to play on the PC after I got stuck. I ran into an obscure text guide from the late '90s that happened to include the writers thoughts on the game and some other subjects... I ended up reading the entire guide not because I had further issues with the game but I was absolutely fascinated at getting insight to this person's inner thoughts in the 90s. 😂
Are we sure Jensen haven't been replaced by AI? For all we know the real Jensen might be long dead.
The more you Thanks, the more you Steve
'more to you, Steve'
loved the intro.. its so nice to see all ppur favourite tech utubers meet and have fun 😂
This intro is an unexpected but very welcome crossover.
That intro feels like the intro to any of the mission impossible movies.
That's the beauty of it , it is actually the intro to Terminator.
"The more you make, the more greedy you get"
That's the original line that they are twisting...
When you’re in the company break room and hit the floor laughing so hard at the Darmok reference and your coworkers look at you like 🤨😳
That intro deserves to be its own video...perhaps next year will be even crazier than this one!
I called the Nintendo hotline twice because the first time I forgot to write down the cheat code the guy gave me for Shadows of the Empire.
Everyone was really happy about that when the phone bill came!
Zinda, his face black, his eyes red!
