    Attention to detail ensures quality. Great job! Love the custom design and setup.

    Looks great! Nice to see someone else who takes the time to solder and heat-shrink instead of using butt splices. Sometimes the crimp connectors are unavoidable though; in such cases I usually load up both ends of the connector with dielectric grease prior to crimping it down. Haven’t had a failure yet!
    One critique I have is the quick connects you have between the BackRack and the truck itself. Those guys aren’t waterproof and I’ve seen them disintegrate and fail from corrosion. My recommendation there would be some of the same watertight connectors you used down below, Deutsch connectors, Delphi WeatherPack, or MetriPack connectors. That’s the only detail I’d have done differently, but overall you did a fantastic job!

    That's a slick setup. Nice tidy install. But I will say you need some LED flood lights to light up the bed at night. Makes loading and unloading after dark a lot easier.

    Looks great. I love lights I like to be seen. I have a 2017 F 250 with 8 amber on just above the front valance. Set of recon big rig lights. Rear tailgate light bar. Factory clearance lights. And a 30 inch light bar on the bumper that has a amber back lighting. Next is a head ache rack. All lights are switched so if don't want to run them. Once again very nice.

      I was just antagonizing you a bit because I know full well you can't get done what you do unless you burn the midnight oil candle at both ends. We don't have a t.v. and haven't had in over 10 years. Nothing there at all for us, anyway. You tube we can pick and choose even though they're pushing the t.v. thing heavy. Not for here. I appreciate what you do and the perfectionist way you do it. Clean and crisp and no strings or wild hairs hanging out. I try to do that and it works sometimes and sometimes not, but I still try. You know you've got me for a loyal watcher. I know just enough about what you're doing to be dangerous but not lethal. I even got to burn a little fuel this week trying to help a neighbor rearrange his swamp with a pond in it. He's happy so I am too. And as always, you did a BANG-UP job! A-PLUS! Later, Pal! And it'll always be supper for me, not dinner!

    Looks good Another wiring method you could use if you dont want to drill holes for more switches is get a DPDT 12v relay and wire a up fitter switch to that relay and wire the the lights to common and normally open contacts. With that said you could utilize the up fitter switch to turn those lights on and off, and still have the stop turn function per side I can explain in detail if anyone wants more info.

  • @markoverly3394
    @markoverly3394 Před 3 lety +1

    You can use the upfitter switches to switch a ground....just use the switch to trigger a relay coil and the NO relay terminals to switch the ground.

    Out of curiosity why did you include aux 4 in the setup. #3&4 aux switches are high amperage and seeing as they are led they wouldn't be strong enough to overload aux 3 that you used originally for the running light setup (which I'm stealing by the way). Unless you have no plans to use the other switches for anything else.

      @@squatch253 I want to mount the LEDs on the uprights. After I drill the 3/4 inch holes, how do I go about connecting the lights from one to another? Do I use a long wire for the positive and another for the negitive and splice each light into the wires. Just not sure how to wire the lights together. I need some good advise. I also am going to purchase the two inch riser as you did and want to add the LED lights on them also. I just want all of the lights to be clearance lights. As I stated before I have LEDs on my running boards. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you.

    Just a FYI, you could have enabled the additional LEDs with one of those upfitter switches if you wanted to... The output of the (upfitter) switch powers a NO relay that then acts as the switch(the one you installed) within the cab. Saves you from having to get wires in cab and only requires one wire to be run from the engine bay to your main splice.

    • @billlewens4136

      Squatch253 so basically if we want them to function all the time without and switch we tap into the brake and turn for each side (left and right) and ground them both we should be good on the lights? Won't their be an issue with the 2 separate functions of turn and brake splicing together and connected to the positive of the light? Also we have the same lights you used from Peterson.

    You're 'worse' than me,..there are not enough lights on ANY vehicle. My favorite is to install driving lights, but some of today's vehicles get all quirky on us when we add electrics etc. don't they?
    I'd love to add another set of back-up lights to my 2017 Escape, but I'm concerned what the extra draw on the electrics would do to the warning lights .
    I like the night time effects on your Super Duty now,...these light look really good.
