  • Moe is Ghanaian but it took the unfortunate passing of his father for him to re-explore his Ghanaian roots.
He was thrown into the funeral traditions of Ghana and this is what happened. You'll want to take notes on this one...believe me!

Excellent interview!!! Finally someone who actually explains the culture and family dynamics in Ghana. His determination and grit, plus recognition of game has brought him through. Why is there a Chinatown in Ghana. That needs to checked. Ghana is going to end up in a new form of slavery if nothing is not done.. wishing you both well from DMV…

African immigrants to the Western countries struggle to raise their children with African values due to peer pressures from their cohorts. We do our best to inculcate the African culture to our progeny but we face extreme societal challenges especially if one parent was born and raised in the west. 😂.

I agree with this Gentleman 100 percent. During my high school years I was being bullied and made fun of by some of the African American kids. I felt embarrassed to be African or even speak it. I was struggling with identity crises. If my African Americans friend was coming over to my house, I had to quickly put away the fufu and soup or ate it up really fast so they don't see it and ask me questions. When I was asked what I had for dinner I will mention foods that every one familiar. So I can relate to some of his experiences.

Growing up, I did see some of the conncerns my parents talked about. However, not all Black American fit into the stereotypes. As a parent myself (18yrs & 16yrs children), I have never told my kids who they can or can not be friends with. Interestingly, all of my kids friends are first generation Americans / children of immigrants parents. As a professional educator of more than two decades, I see that some immigrants parents still tell their kids not to befriend Black American children. I believe most do this due to fear, personal experiences and more.

Regarding comparing how old america is and how old ghana is, im so so so sorry but ghana is part of africa and africa was once borderless and africa is at least a million years old...it sounds like a pity party or complete disconnectedness when someone says oh ghana is young and we are villagers and we still need to figure things out 😏 whattttt??? ...and why divide north africa from subsaharan africa? What do people imagine north Africa to be in terms of how they operate? Different from Sub Saharan africa??? Please! The only difference is the people's skin tone 😏😏😏 let's stop dividing people. It's bad enough the internal division in each African country snd family!!! And we have no business trying to be like America...in fact america imitated africa to get where they are today which is sad because they will end up where Africa is now🤷

Are the Asian Indians, the Chinese, the Lebanese, the Arabs, the British, the French, the Germans, the jew ish, the Belgians, etc. also expected to overstand the culture of Ghanaians as they too choose to migrate, build businesses & build their homes, purchase lands, obtain permanent residency as well?
These groups mentioned above voluntarily migrate to Ghana as well and these groups function as their own distinct foreign subgroups to Ghana as an exclusive subgroup. So, if Native Black Americans are expected to overstand and respect the "cultural nuances" of Ghana, why aren't the foreign groups who have voluntarily migrated to Ghana expected to respect and acknowledge the cultural norms of Ghana as well? Just a query.
