Happy 94th Birthday to the Legendary Deccan Queen ❤️
The 12123 / 12124 Deccan Queen is a daily Indian passenger train service operated by the Central Railway zone of the Indian Railways connecting the cities of Mumbai and Pune. Introduced on June 1, 1930, the Deccan Queen was India's "first superfast train, first long-distance electric-hauled train, first vestibuled train, the first train to have a ‘women-only’ car, and the first train to feature a dining car". The service name comes from the Marathi nickname "दख्खन ची राणी" (Queen of the Deccan), a popular nickname for Pune.
We were extremely lucky that day to receive the DQ's old link, the Kalyan KYN WCAM2! Here, the 21861 christened as "BALWANT" was in lead.

Don't see any great thing except for the new carriage colors but put off by the dirty looking loco. The dining car is a joke, more like a roadside hotel. My memories are of the 60s- 80s. Batata vadas ONLY got at Karjat station on the reverse run. 1St Class was ax it said ... First Class. Most disappointed by the downgrade if the Queen
