The Mumbai division had a lot of loco shortage in 2000s and they decided to let some trains run by diesel locomotives at that point. The initial argument from the railways was that since only Mumbai was electrified and beyond Pune it was diesel section. Pune didn’t have the capacity to do the traction change very quickly and was very busy during the morning and evening times. That,s why you see 22159, 17031, konark express which arrives pune around evening duration started using diesel traction. Trains like 12163 used electric traction until Pune and then did the loco change since their arrival times in pune were pretty much in the night times… The Mumbai pune trains always used election traction… it’s only during the recent past that section beyond pune got electrified… now there is a huge lobby from the diesel locopilots union to not let go of their hold on these few trains… 12163 and 12164 uses electric traction between ltt-Chennai…also one thing which you missed in the your previous video the section from daund to solapur there are sections which are still single line… in the golden quadrilateral project, this Chennai Mumbai section was the most neglected section… the entire section between pune-renigunta used to be single line and diesel section… only after Prime minister Vajpayee’s initiative this section was given the much needed attention and doubling and electrification initiatives started becoming a priority… in the Congress regime again, all the projects slowed down and now it picked up in the recent past… not blaming any regimes since there were some land acquisition issues for the doubling part… very soon this section will be a fully electrified double line… also Deccan queen is usually handled by the most experienced locopilots and they are honored on their retirement day by decorating their name plate on the engine and are given a guard of honor on every single station by the railway officials on every station between Mumbai and Pune… I’m proud to announce that my dad had that privilege in 2013 and I accompanied him in that trip in the wcam3 locomotive which was being used then

Anna Mumbai is the first busiest of local trains in India. Kolkata is 2nd and Chennai is 3rd busiest of local trains. So in Mumbai there are many local trains that we can see. It is from kalyaan to csmt. Mumbai is also has two zones Central railway (CR) and Western railway (WR). And mumbai is the headquarters of both CR and WR. Like KOLKATA is for ER and SER.
In Bangalore, Matropoliten Buses are very, very famous and covering entire city in most punctuality.

My answer is not related to this video bro. But your last video. But here i can say what i understood from traction change.
1. Trains like 22159/60 use Electric traction i.e. WAP4 from Chennai till Wadi. These fall in SR and SCR Divisions. Starting from Wadi, CR Division starts. When i used to travel in 22159 previously 11041, they haul with WDM3D of Guntakal / Gooty and they get changed in Guntakal (GTL).
2. I think Indian Railways has some kind of records for diesel consumption division wise. So i have never seen Kalyan's WDP4D outside CR division tracks. So they often pull till Wadi which is last station of CR. They may have some necessity linked with other trains to bring back WDP4D from /to Wadi.
3. LHB rakes has HOG feature which is helped by the king WAP7 so they leave engines connected to HOG from End to End. Probably they won't carry diesel to operate generators in EOG when engine is changed to diesel. So in a example train 12163/64 uses RPM, ED, GMO, SRC and GZB WAP7 with HOG from End to End.
I have never seen Non HOG engines like WAP4 or WAP7 without HOG connected on those trains. Especially after they got changed to LHB (Enna kanakku ne theriyala)
4. Probably ICF coaches are the main reason where diesel engines are put into work. May be LHB coaches will change the history for these trains. I am waiting past 3-4 years for LHB change for prestegious trains like 22159/60 which is one of the oldest trains running from 01 Dec 1921.
Lets wait and watch. Electric engines are future of IR. But diesels are emotions bro.. :) ;)
End to end electrified bro, may be chennai Mumbai section loco pilots have not been trained for ac locos so they are still using diesels. But nagercovil mumbai got end to end wap7

Bro, Did you notice the electric catenary. Was this resemblance of what we had between Tambaram and Beach suburban lines when it was MG?, Yes, this catenary was earlier acted as DC Catenary which later got converted to AC. But they retained the structure and converted it as AC

I remember going on Deccan Queen a couple of decades ago. It was one of the first trains to adopt electric locomotives. But nowadays a lot of southern railways have also adopted WAP7 as a standard. It will be interesting to see when the next step up happens - perhaps WAP-12 ? They can take the same technology from WAG-12 concept which has the highest HP locomotives in India.
The highlights of the trip is normally the tunnels.

Mumbai has two railway zones one is Western Railway where slow local train frequency is every 3 minutes and for fast local train the frequency is atleast 10 to 15 mins. Same way for Central Railway slow local train frequency is every 4 minutes and for fast local train the frequency is 15 to 20 mins. Deccan Queen train is part of Central Railway division.
