- Peter attended the opening day of Rise of the Resistance at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios theme park on December 5, 2019. This video features a look at the crowds, a POV ride-through of the epic groundbreaking attraction and a look at all the new Rise of the Resistance merchandise available in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and off-planet elsewhere in the park.

you didn't really mention it, but the training and acting jobs that the cast members do throughout this ride add so much real feel atmosphere to the experience as well.
I love the merch coverage with prices! Love that. I can shop without shopping. Just did the ride yesterday, finally. Took four attempts to finally get on. It was awesome! I'm not sure it was "get up at 5 in the morning while dragging my entire family out that early and listen to them whine and cry for the entire day waiting to maybe possibly but probably not get on" awesome. Lol.

You're right dude - that drop doesn't look that bad at all. Looks pretty awesome. Seems like the falling part is during the release of the pod from the ship then its some dodging around.

@@mikegruber172 best I've been able to tell from reports (I'll be experiencing it real soon) there's an initial several-foot drop when the escape pod releases and then a longer drop as you make planetfall. I'm hearing that the last drop is somewhere in the neighborhood of Splash Mountain. But while Splash Mountain is a free-fall, this is a controlled fall. Watching other riders makes it appear that the break is fairly smooth.
We shall see.
So just to follow up to anyone who might be seeing this...
Yup - initial quick drop when the escape pod separates from the ship. There's a feeling of velocity as you begin to dive through structure on your mad escape dash. Some bouncing. Smooth break.
The drop could be a bit of a jolt if you're not expecting it. But having been fore-warned... there wasn't much to it.
Also. The ride. Amazing. Just amazing. My SO had tears getting off the ride.
Great video, I cannot wait to get down there to ride it. Great time to be a Star Wars Fan!
Good job filming this one! Actually got to see more of how the AT-AT drivers try to shoot at you and you can actually see more of how the special effects are working on this ride! Disney has indeed outdone themselves with this ride! Great video!!

In the beginning you mention that if you don't want to watch the intro or the ride as shown before, then skip ahead...BUT you didn't mention that the camera angles were different and there was added footage, which others like me would be interested in seeing. I'm definitely hyped for this to open at Disneyland!

You are tooo lucky! When i start watching your video on Batuu. I dream about it. I live in Canada and try to get money to go at Batuu Next year and i want to try Rise of Resistance!! i love the special effect with the 'real' damage on the wall. We did not saw the screen at all.

All the same merch was released at Disneyland EXCEPT the pins and the toy ride vehicle. I didnt see the Tervis tumbler but I did see a coffer thermos cup. These items were at Star Trader in Tomorrowland. I would expect they would be at Launch Bay as well but it was not open yesterday early morning ( I did a quick run). I did not check First Order Cargo as Peter mentioned the toy is there at DHS.

Anyone else notice how they completely removed Vi Moradi from the ride? She seems to have been replaced by Rey in the beginning. That or they just removed her completely. She was definitely in original promo videos. I just went back & checked.
I believe that she was only intended to be used in the commercials. Rey was always set to be the hologram

That's Disney for you making killer $$$ off of food, merchandise and anything else from them. I think shark tank would love at least 40% of their profits lol. But regardless of price, I enjoy Disneyland for the memories and the experience from the rides.
