- In this video, I will be showing you that internet speed does not matter for Oculus Air Link and that you can actually play without any internet at all.

Thank you very much! I bought an Oculus Quest 2 (waiting for delivery) and was wondering about my Internet connection
Cheers Mate!
thanks for your tip that helps me alot
One thing I'm confused about that I'm struggling to find an answer for. I want a dedicated router for vr, but I also want an internet connection. Would connecting the dedicated router to my main home network affect the performance of the dedicated router in wifi? I was under the impression that it should just be PC to dedicated router, and quest 2 to dedicated router, no outside connections. But then how do you actually get internet in that scenario?
You've already likely solved this "problem", but in case you haven't, or for the people who also can't figure this out, I recommend watching this video:

They specifically talk about the internet at 3:57. Hope this helps anyone :)
hey there. when i tried this without internet, it was stuck on the steam loading thing ( mountains and starry sky) and not loading the game
I wonder if this is possible with a pc's wifi hotspot. My goal is to have a gaming laptop to travel with , and not needing a router or internet.
yes you can but need internet for hotspot to work for your pc
Thnx man, for me it was very strange that it works!)
Do you know why my airlink would open but the second I move my head or hands it says there is a connection issue. I’m using a tp link ax6600 router and the headset says it gets enough bandwidth from the router. Any ideas?
Great video thanks! Can you also connect your PC to the "Internet Router" as well? So the PC has Internet, but the Air link connection does not?
If I understood you correctly, then I am afraid not. If the dedicated router is not connected to the "internet router", then it creates a "solo" local wifi network that is separate from the network your PC will be connected to.
@@smartglasseshub6285 So my question was, if the Airlink Router is connected to the PC via cable. My PC has still the WLAN Card without connection. If I connect the WLAN to my Internet Network. Has my PC (not the Oculus) Internet. For playing PCVR online. Btw. Thanks for answering 👍 Hope that was more clear then my post before.
@@benjaminulber7865 Hi Benjamin! Thanks for the clarification! I have not tested this scenario - however, it seems that the thread below describes the setup you are trying to establish:
forums.oculusvr.com/t5/Oculus-Quest-2-and-Quest/Use-WiFi-for-Internet-and-LAN-Only-for-Airlink/td-p/898287
He/she didn't it working by default. Might still be very possible, but you are gonna have to do some googling on how exactly.
@@smartglasseshub6285 ok, I will google my way though the internet for that 😁 Thanks for making those videos 👍
@@benjaminulber7865 watch this video here, it explains all of that and more:

I hope that helps :D
So this obviously doesnt work for everyone's setup, I was wondering if you were casting from a copy of Alyx where you ha stored all files locally and turned off Steam's cloud sync? That seems to be the only way I could see this actually working.
I get my internet from landlord's section of the building, so connection to the initial router with a cable is not an option. Can I still sett up air link with my own router?
I paid more attention to the uhhhs
Uhhh wym
I alway paid more attention to the uhhhhh
My computer just won’t let my oculus quest connect. It sees the quest 2 but when I start the link it disconnects.
my pc is on the 3rd floor and the main router is on the 1st floor is there a way to do this without having to have an insanely long cable from router to the tp link
whats the difference between getting a dedicated router and connecting directly to the other router with a longer cable?
If your main router is good (most provided by ISP are not) and you allocate the 5Ghz WiFi network solely for VR, then you might be good to go. Give it a try before purchasing a dedicated router
Wow awesome
when im connecting my quest to the dedicated router, it does not connect because it says "no internet" ... please help :)
This video isn't the whole story. You need internet for the setup and for it to have been connected one time, but then once you've done that you can DISCONNECT the internet. You have to have had internet at some point though
i dont get that cause even with my internet i dont use an ethernet airlink is very laggy for me :/
See if any of the tips here help you:
czcams.com/video/PUbbv-gljyQ/video.html&
it says i need more ghz
Then why does it struggle with internet? This makes no sense
NO ROUTER??????
Long story short you need strong internet not good internet
Anybody done this with a phone hotspot?
😂😂😂
nice video uhhhh
YES YOU DO. EVERY FUCKING TIME I DO AIR LINK THE STUPID META QUEST BROWSER MESSES IT THE FUCK UP
HOLY SHIT CALM THE FUCK DOWN
Uhx62
So if I currently have terrible internet speeds at home from the router provided by my ISP, I can just buy a dedicated vr router and air link should work?
Does it work?
