    I dreamed almost this exact feature set up in a flashlight in the late 90's when I worked as a doorman/bouncer at bar and clubs. My version would have been in a MagLite though (for all the same reasons a regular MagLite is good for that job). The only thing that is missing from my "dream device" is a camera.
    As a doorman you need a flashlight to check IDs. You need a UV light where some venues use UV ink hand stamps for in/out privilege's. You need a laser pointer to point out problems across a crowd to other security staff. And a camera would let you take pics of ids as you check them, so that in case someone becomes a problem later you can ID them. It would also let you snap pics of other things for documenting incidents. This one however lacks the intimidation factor of a MagLite.

      Red light would be so much more useful for me too. I don't think many people have any use for UV unless they're in a very specific industry, in which case they'll normally be better off with a dedicated UV with a filter rather than this.

      @alextaplin7354 I use the uv to check for scorpions in my tent while camping. It's also cool to go look at them during the night. Also I put florescent straps on my tent poles. Which stand out like crazy in the night without destroying my night vision. I also put florescent strips on my knife and fire steel. If I lose them. With the uv light they literally glow bright. So great tool if you actually go outside. But not everybody does that these days.

      Life always depends on how much you use it.
      And I don’t see any advantage of an internally built battery. I want a replaceable battery every time.

    Good review. It would be cool if Olight could make a version of the pro with a replaceable battery while keeping the flat profile of the pro. I have never cared for flashlights with built in batteries because they have a way of running out of juice at the worst possible time. At least with my 18650 flashlights I can put in a spare battery and keep on going. If the pro will run off a power cell that would partially resolve the issue.

    My only complaint about the Olight Arkfeld Pro it that they have the laser as the 2nd(middle) option and UV light as the 3rd(left) option. So, as you demonstrated in this video, when the Arkfeld Pro has the flashlight turned on in order to get to the UV light you have to scroll past the laser temporarily turning on the laser as you're scrolling left with the switch to get to the UV light. This may cause you to unknowingly turn on the laser and potentially have the laser reflect off of a surface and hit your eyes, causing eye damage or blandness(Arkfeld Pro has much stronger laser)😢 Olight should have designed the Arkfeld Pro with the UV light as the 2nd(middle) option and Laser as the 3rd(left) option!!! That way, you could access the UV light without having to scroll past the laser and temporarily turning it on👍

    • @alextaplin7354
      @alextaplin7354 Před 9 měsíci +4

      Olight have implemented a thing for this. When flicked from 1 to 3 or back, when the light was on, if you flick under a certain amount of time, could be a second, I’m not sure, it skips the laser and won’t turn it on. I’m not a professional, and I only heard it from another video reviewer who demonstrated it.

    I have one of these lights and I don't carry it, although I did for a short time to test it. I carried this light last winter here in Idaho while I walked my dog at night. EVERY time I pulled it from my clip pocket, I had to fumble with it to figure out "which" side the button was on. A couple times, I turned the lever and put in on laser, which I didn't need. Simply, this damn thing doesn't have a natural feel for turning it on. I would rather have a tail switch like the new Nitecore or an old Surefire light. I threw that Arkfeld in the drawer for some last light to use when all the others break.

    Dont hate on lights not having memory. Some people don't want memory on lights, it's all about the purpose of your light. My self defence light always goes straight to high no matter what it was on last. Last thing I want is to pull it out in hopes of blinding my attacker and finding it on moonlight.....

    • @ChrispyThings
      @ChrispyThings  Před 25 dny

      Then get a tactical light for self defense purposes that goes direct to high and has direct access to strobe.
      This is not a self defense light

    So like most led lights. It advertises a high lumen count that can actually only be used a few minutes but essentially this is just a 400 lumen flashlight

      @ChrispyThings  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes. They all do this

    • @jakefranklin89
      @jakefranklin89 Před měsícem

      It’s basic physics. How could such a tiny flashlight maintain the extreme heat generated by-in the Arkfeld Pro’s case-1300 lumens without damaging the device? Only much larger, dedicated tactical lights like the L35 and bigger can maintain those numbers for an extended period of time due to their greater mass. Rarely, smaller flashlights like the TS22 can do so but it still runs very hot.
      Almost all flashlights, even efficient ones with high quality drivers, will step down from their initial turbo levels to a sensible lumen count with ATR or a timed step down. If they didn’t, they’d simply melt down and die after their first usage.

    If the laser was capable of burning I'd be interested. Then it would be a decent light, fluid illuminator and fire starter. That would be fantastic.

      That kind of Lazer could easily blind someone. It wouldn't make sense on a general purpose flashlight.

    The battery is not replaceable. Already it's not at all eco-responsible on the part of olight, and that confirms the fact that it's really like APP.E proprietary battery, proprietary charger, it's been 2 years that I've wanted this brand but 2 years that I don't buy because their "buyer prisoner" marketing policy makes me vomit

    Inbuilt battery is an absolute deal-breaker at this price. Wasteful on the wallet and the environment.
    Also, the NW version is only available on the black model and that isn't even available in the UK! An EDC style light at this price should have a nice tint by default, yet Olight still love to go with the harshest cool white they can find. People have been complaining about this for ages, what are they thinking?

  • @ellisgarvin
    @ellisgarvin Před 4 měsíci

    $100 for a light that you have to throw away when the battery eventually dies. Weak laser if you're using it during the day time (esp compared to the flashlight.) On my Gen 1 model, the lumens appear weaker than other lights with the same rated output. Also battery drains super quickly sometimes, for no apparent reason, other than malfunctioning electronics. But hey, it "looks cool," which seems to be the priority for Olight with this one.
