The magnetic charging is the only thing I don't like about Olight. A USB charging cord would be far more convenient especially if the light travels with you. The dedicated cord is just another thing to carry around on the road. Lose it and you're out of luck. A USB cord is ubiquitous, you would always be able to charge a USB light. Other that the fancy charging cords, Olights rock!
Makes sense! I don’t travel with mine very often so the magnetic mount is super convenient to just leave home. I only have to charge it maybe once a week as it is anyway, but I totally see that perspective.
@JamesDailyTV I actually like the magnetic charger..less things that can break..USB can have a breaking point.
@@billholb1974 that’s kind of how I feel. I dislike that it’s proprietary but I’ve already dropped this thing off my shelf once and I feel like it would have yanked a USB out a little harder than I would have wanted.
@JamesDailyTV yes..some people are stuck in the old ways with chargers.
Yeah we get it, you don’t need to spell it out. Extra cable bad. I’m sorry you lost your cable and can’t charge you light anymore, I’m sure that sucks. But at least you don’t have to go through the struggle of lugging it around anymore. You probably could have avoided that hernia surgery if you’d only lost that extra cable earlier and relived yourself of its burden. I personally stopped driving a car because i won’t carry a car key. I fundamentally refuse to add another item to my edc load out even if it’s a key to a tool that enhances my life.
Great solid light. I switch between a microstream usb and a i3t with a rechargeable 10440 battery for daytime work as a field med tech. But when I’m on call, and have to go out at night the Arkfeld is the one I take. Way more lumens and runtime. And the moonlight mode is great for reading paperwork at night in my work truck. UV is useful sometimes too.
Im actually surprised at just how often I use the UV mode on this light. I do tend to need it every now and then, and used to carry a specific UV light for just in case, but now it's all in one package and I use it quite a bit more. But I agree, love the moonlight mode for when you need just enough light.
For us REAL men who don’t wear beard cream and EDC to Starbucks.. I use the black light to check for blood, my hotel sheets for bed bugs and fluids. Also works well for high vis marking. Laser for pointing at shit I can’t reach toward or point my finger at because of electrical or fire hazard. Flash light is a little annoying because I often want that Streamlight TURBO mode but the o light requires multiple button presses. Not under stress friendly. Will also say the streamlight on turbo is the only sure method I found for getting out of a rear naked choke. On turbo the stream light will melt plastic in .75 seconds.
I bought one and an EDC27 and tried them both for a week. The EDC was the winner for me.
I had the opposite happen. I also own both. Both are great lights, but the Arkfeld ended up in my pocket much more frequently. I still have the EDC27, but it doesn't get used nearly as much.
I EDC the other laser flashlight arfeld model and love it only thing i wish is that it had a double pocket clip couldve really came in handy at times so now that this newer model has it is great. Olight come on i need those pocket clips on your website asap so i can buy a couple
first of all Great Video!!....when it comes to an EDC light I am most concerned about the battery life on the medium setting, this usually tends to be the most useful light as it is the longest run time on the best usable brightness....I dont care if it is 10,000 lumens if it only runs for 20 minutes and the power is dead....usually medium is enough to get the job done with a long working time, so i always look at the medium settings usage time!....just my opinion though!
I'm planning to have this as my edc as soon as they make it in coyote or desert tan with warm white. I don't like the double clip because as you said it gets caught on stuff. I wish they would use better emitters with high cri and no green in the beam.
I’d love to get a coyote version of this light! I haven’t had any issue with the LED’s though. I’m usually pretty sensitive to light color, but I also like the high kelvin temp’s.
It checks all my needs, but I hate the battery isn't replaceable. People who are saying this is expensive are idiots. What other company is releasing a product like this with the same quality?
Non replaceable battery is an issue.. I do wish it were a swappable battery pack so I could carry a spare or be able to replace it if it went out. But I’m also betting that 3/4 the cost is the battery anyway. Haha.
I bought two. Problem solved 😂
One of my top 3 favourite lights 🙂 The ONLY things I dislike about it are some minor artefacts in the beam, but they are only noticable if you use the light close up on a wall, the non-replaceable battery and the fact that the LED is low CRI (colors looks a little washed out).
But other than that this is a great flashlight! It has a wide and useful floodlight for everyday tasks, not a lot of throw but I rarely need to see very far anyway. The UV is strong enough to reveal hidden spots when cleaning and the laser is ok. Not the brightest laser, but it's not too weak either.
7/10 🙂
I agree with the sealed battery.. the proprietary charger has been an issue one time for me as well (when I forgot it on a trip I took). Other than that though, it's been solid!
Im stuck between the streamlight wedge and arfeld for hunting help me out
I'd go with the wedge or nitecore edc
Great video, thinking on grabbing one myself👍🏽
Let me know what you think if you do!
I just bought the regular Arkfeld - for its UV
Not a bad way to go. I just like lasers... haha.
Never saw the point, Nitecore has a nice one though.
I also own the EDC27, and I prefer the Arkfeld slightly. I carry both, but the Olight tends to end up in my pocket more often.
I hope Olight will focus on sustainability more in the future. Proprietary charging kills it for me, I’m not going to EDC their magnetic charger (wth). If this would be usb-c, I’d buy it. But this - really stupid product decision.
That's my only main complaint... but it's only bothered me when I was traveling and forgot the charger. It took me 4 days to get through the battery life and fortunately I was only gone for 5, but I was using it pretty heavily. My other gripe might end up being a sealed battery compartment when the battery dies... but time will tell.
waterproof?
IPX7 rated.
i like mine , wish the clip was removable ...
It should be removable... mine has two fasteners on the back that you can undo to remove the clip.
Do you know for a fact if this will detect pet urine? Have you tested? Would you mind peeing in the woods somewhere and testing after it drys? I need a light that will 100% work on urine for cleaning purposes.
I can say with certainty that it will detect urine, based on my evaluation of my hotel bathroom this last weekend....
you didn't add any valued feedback NOT provided by numerous other content providers. The white light beam has poor throw, so much so, you can't find candelas@distance stats
What kind of feedback would you have liked to see exactly? It's a pretty simple device.... This is just my opinion on it.
"just good things to say about the light...", so what are the things you don't like?
The only thing that's been even mildly inconvenient about it has been the proprietary charger if I'm traveling. It's easy to forget the cord. But if I'm not traveling, it doesn't bug me. I think maybe down the road, I might dislike that it's a sealed battery compartment and when the battery dies, I'll need to replace the light, but only time will tell how long it lasts. So far, so good though
I like my 1300 lumen Energiser, bigger yeah but 4 hours on full beam 18 hours on 300 lumens. Rechargable batterys.
I prefer the headlights on my car! 😂
Needs USB-C charging.
No replaceable battery and therefor useless and a bomb it would be better to have replacement rechargeable batteries
Fuck the laser - otherwise fab torch
@@k1_w3 I did
Over hipped, under power, native battery, nice looking, too expensive, already tons of comparable and way better LIGHTs with more features.
the olight is a piece of $hit .. i also thought some of these experts know what they were talking about. it turns out they were probably paid advertisers.. totally waste of money
Or maybe you rep an other brand - love the olights we have used…
I bought mine with my own money and I love it! I've had no problems at all with it after a few months of daily use now, and my only, very mild complaint is the proprietary charger if I'm traveling. *shrug*
Is the lens plastic or glass?
polycarbonate I'm pretty sure. Hasn't seemed to scuff up or anything yet though. It's guarded pretty well with an aluminum rim.
