Brown algae’s seem to thrive in low nitrate or imbalanced systems. You can have low nitrates but you need to have proper biodiversity/ mature tank. Most people who have low no3 pho supplement with amino acids
Let the tank mature. Leave sand alone cut back photo period/ intensity. Adding micro diversity also helps. What my videos on how we dealt with brown algae’s.

im having this problem and i think it started with a phos and a nitrate bottming thanks to a dose of microbacter 7.
I would suggest just a cleanup crew and turning the light way down. Blue only.
Unfortunately it grows just as good under blue lights.
So low nitrates causes brown algae ? Isn't the point to have very low nitrates since they cause algae with lights on ? Someone please explain

What if my nitrates are at 10 and im starting to get brown algae outbreak all over rocks and sand in a matter of days ?

Do you have a problem with puffers nipping the fins of their tankmates?
No w e haven’t had that issue so far. Most saltwater fish can handle themselves pretty ok.
