Help pick fish for this Saltwater Tank
Man that last tank was gettin real. Think you're on the right track as always. One way I got rid of dinos, thanks to Mack's support group on FB, was dosing silicates to spur diatom growth. Pretty harmless, diatoms can outcompete a lot of different types of algae and if they have silicates they'll bloom.
I have my bubble tip under a nicrew marine led is that ok
Ive only kept rock flowers under nicrew. keep me posted how it works out.
How do you increase nitrates?
Feed more or add a no3 supplement
What is that bully anthias in the first tank you featured?
Gorgonians, especially Grubes gorgonian which grow like weeds and aim a wave maker at it so it's always swaying.
Such a nice planted tank. I had a purple plating sponge like yours and it grew like a monti over time... but I dosed with chemiclean to treat cyano and it killed the sponge.
True old school would be crushed coral for a sandbed with under gravel filters and powerheads.
Hey man getting a job doing maintenance on aquariums also I’m a Reefing attic for years now have any advice you can share to me for doing this as a job now ?
I want to work at tanknicians
C’mon
What are those bright blue/purple mushrooms?
How do you get the rock to turn purple?

Love going to work days with multiply tanks. I was wondering if the seahorses at the shop were purchased and if it was by one of you clients? I so worry about them. This was a very busy and exciting video with lots of things to watch out for in the future. I'm most interested in the one moving that is getting the bigger tank thus giving that tank as an upgrade for their seahorses. And yes get the fake plants out of there Chris, that's got to be twisting you up. Me too. Also it has been a few videos since we have seen your nano tank and the orange monster guy for a feeding. Till the next one. Love and Peace.
I heard you say you were going to get rid of those palys. How do you do that? When I first started several years ago, I bought some beautiful mushrooms that had some ugly brown palys on the egg crate that the mushrooms were on. The store owner asked me did I want him to get rid of the palys, I told him no. I thought free stuff cool. But come to find out those ugly palys pretty much grow all over the place and I have battled them for the past four years. Scrubbing them off of rocks as much as possible, but they always grow back. That free stuff was a decision that I’ve regretted ever since.
Its really easy to avoid the ugly fase. Im sure you know. Seed the tank with rock from a established tank with no pests. Most importantly seed the tank with various easy to keep corals again from a clean source. They are finding way more microbiome of different strains from and around coral than on live rock. This will pretty much skip the ugly fase or greatly reduced it. Adding water from an established tank also helps.
How the heck do you even do maintenance on the cylinder tank? Do you have to use a claw or go inside the tank?
It’s a tough. Reach as deep as I can during water changes.
is it true that cylinder tanks can be much thinner than rectangular ones?
Would make sense because it’s one piece.
Looking forward to the update of the tank with the outdoor chiller. the big tank with big fish.
Hey man in your opinion what is the best most reliable auto top off ? I top off manually cause im so scared of flooding my tank and apartment......
Red Sea is the one I’d go with. Wi-Fi enabled so you can keep track of
Hey im having the same exact issues with the brown algae on the glass and sand but my nitrates are at 20 in an 8 month old tank. Any advice ?
More or less where are the nitrates usually in this tank and how much water change how often ?
But isn’t that a rainbow bubbletip at 2:50
Hi. How do you remove mushroom/zoa corals? Like with Xenia or leathers, I can just slice them with a knife. But for zoa/mushroom that is on the rock, seems really tough! You can just break them unlike SPS/LPS corals
how big is the tank
A lot of people forget Xenia works well in replace of macro algae
Absolutely

Hello friend, I have been following you for a while and I see that you have a lot of experience in marine aquariums. Could you help me with a problem I have in my tank? At the moment I have problems with vibrosis or Vibrio. Could you help me with some advice so I can recover my tank and win the battle against this bacteria. Thank you for your time and sorry if I bother you. Sorry my english is not very good. Thx
Hit that thumbs up for more amazing salt water transformations. Getting to the bottom of the problems one tank at a time. Thanks for all you do. Peace.
I like these old tank videos. Please share more clients tanks
Is it the blue throat fairy wrasse? Look stunning
Yeah it’s such a good looking wrasse!
A single canister of that size for that size of aquarium isnt really enough imo, you need to filtering at least 4 times that of the tank which that 307 iant capable of doing.......
Agreed
I would of just added a 2nd cannister filter then can alternate cleaning and get better filtration overall and flow
That would be ideal
How do you safely get rid of the the Paly's I believe you said in the video? I have some in mine that have taken over and I want to upgrade the rock with better coral.
"Bad ass" as always! Come on people smash that thumbs up button, your here watching anyways. Chris, see ya on the next one. Love and Peace.
Thank you so much as always
lol if you saw my tank you would tell me to just quit the hobby
It’s all about how you like your tank. No judgement.
Do you need to euthanasiate soft corals? A delicate subject indeed, but people should still exchange information about it. Perhaps one should put these in the freezer? And blend them afterwards with CaOH powder, to make fish food? Are there any angelfish or other animals interested to feed on them?
Corals don’t have a nervous system so I don’t think they feel pain.
@@aquariumservicetech2891 this is true. But maybe it is possible to make fish food or coral food out of the removed corals? Matrix-Style🤡
great vid, guys👍just shows how that small frag can get
Yes it does!
Xenia is by far the most unique coral
Seems to me u have already made up ur mind. Dude just get it. Sweet up
Haha 🤣
Is there no protein skimmer?
No skimmer
@@aquariumservicetech2891 wow. Thank you for showing this 🙏🏽 pretty soon I’m gonna give saltwater a try
Beautiful Anthias 🥰 How about Helfrichi Firefish.. my personal fav 😊
That would be perfect
Nice work guys! My Yellow Tang usually Refuses to eat GHA…she holds out for me to add dried seaweed lol
What a diva
Where are you guys located? I found you online and then realized you were local when I saw Tommy in a video (use to help me 5+ years ago when he was at another store). Love what your doing and always excited to check out my LFS, so let me know, I'd love to check the place out
We are located in lake park Florida 🙂
Need some metal halides on there for a real old school system.
True
Amazing video Chris. The new tanks at the shop look interesting, sleek, perhaps we will see your frog fish in one soon. I love when you show the fish stock you have available at the shop, always a favorite. The old school tank is different but really pretty in it's own way. Thanks for showing us this on. Peace.
How about an 80 gallon tank for a beginner? I just bought one lol. I kept hearing to get the biggest tank you can afford and have space for. I found a good deal on this tank. It's 48x20x20 with a 26 gallon sump. Am I in for a nightmare, maintenance wise?
I recommend 40g for a beginner. It’s the perfect size. No you should be fine as long as you stay engaged.
great vid, my first tank was more basic than this tank, powerheads were the new kids on the block , sump tanks for the home fish keeper/ reefer were not even on the drawing board yet, unless you had very deep pockets
Hobby has come a long way.
Love an old skool tank, they are my fave, it's what I base my own tank on.
Always enjoy when you showcase an old school tank.
Glad you enjoyed
xr15 pro. NO not a budget light, but well proven through the years Flow is more important than say lighting. Makes sense to buy better the main basic essentials. I learned the hard way! ✌️
Off topic lol I wanted too ask u your opinion on coral life led lights I have a 55 gallon softy tank can I grow them out with a coral life led or a nicrew I’m on a budget?
I’ve had success with the nicrew when growing most softies and rock flowers nems. You should be fine with either light if you keep corals basic.
@@aquariumservicetech2891 thanks I am running the nicrew marine right now appreciate ur feedback
