  • This is a video on how to use the ZK-4KX constant current regulated power supply module to make Magrav GANs. The following link is an excerpt from the 86th KSW on how to mass produce the Magrav GANs the way it is done at the factory:

Thanks for making this video, how did you set it to constant current?

You have to set the voltage higher than what it needs for the desired output current. That will automatically kick it into Constant Current mode because it forces the unit to limit the voltage to stay within the current setting. In the video right around the 3:05 minute mark, it's running at about .95 volts. As soon as I press the U/I (user interface) button you can see that the voltage was set for 12 volts. After I set the current to .500 amps and press the U/I button again it goes back into normal operating mode. You can see for a frame or two the output voltage increases from .95 to 1.0 volts which is way under the 12 volts setting. I hope this helps.

Try searching magrav gans. I get a whole page of links. I hope this helps

These ZK units have one huge flaw. If you toggle it on and off with a CC limit set when you turn it back on the CC limit goes out the window if it’s anything over a couple hundred mA at most. Dangerous if using to charge Lithium Ion.
Disconnecting power entirely from the unit resets this so you just have to add a switch or something on the power in.

Thanks for the comment. I noticed something similar. I've been unplugging the power to end a batch, then plugging it back in to start another batch. I noticed sometimes the CC red LED wasn't lighting up, so I repeated unplugging it and plugging it back in until the CC red LED lit up. I was a little disconcerting.

@ericklein5097 In my situation I think it was popping out of CC mode because the output voltage was too low. The output range of the units I bought is 0.5 to 30v (although I've seen it get as low as 0.47v and the CC mode would still hold). I use 1 gallon containers and just by luck they usually start out right around 0.5v and as the job progresses the voltage gradually increases. Today it was popping out of CC mode because I forgot to top off each container with salted water. As soon as I did the voltage increased just enough to keep it going in CC mode.

Is this a dc-dc booster step up/down or does it have to have ac input only.

I'm making GANs (GAs to Nano of Solid matter). It is to be used as a coating for a plasma energy device.
