I’d love to know more about your fitness program for you and your horses, maybe you could make a video about your fitness/conditioning work for XC? I love your videos by the way, seems like you have such a fun hard working team.

Thank you for the lovely video! I was just wondering that if you make more like this, that maybe you can make a disclaimer with these stronger bits? Perhaps just saying to use with care and if not so experienced, that people should consult with their trainer before using. 😁
Hope you have a great day!

Really interesting video! I like the Bombers pulley system not only for versatility, but it's a good way of getting the horse used to the Gag, without the torque action on the cheek piece of the snaffle. Love the double rein option, so it's used ONLY when needed. The Gag is effective in the hands of only Expert riders.. Years ago, I was attending a horse trial, and a girl who was competing at training level was destroying her horse's mouth using a Gag the Wrong way, it took every bit of strength for me to keep my Irish mouth shut.. Gag's should only be used by professionals. Thanks for the interesting video on the Bombers pulley system.

Cheryl Albright thanks for your comment, it’s a really interesting theory isn’t it... Maybe it’s the hands that are responsible, more than the bit? Of course a stronger bit in inexperienced hands isn’t a good mix, but I would imagine even a hackamore in the wrong hands could end badly? If we all take responsibility for our own hands, & choose good training first, then look for bits that assist us at that stage we are currently at. Because I’m a small human (5’3), bits have always been of great interest to me, as I spent a lot of time being carted by strong or greener horses! For me, I look to train a quality response from the horse, in the timing I can manage, which doesn’t rip by arms out, & also doesn’t have the horse leaning on the bit/on the forehand/rubbing its mouth. That means, although I want Porsche-like responses on my experienced horses, I wouldn’t install those buttons in the horses of my more inexperienced clients! Also, allowing the horse to be slow, dull & pull in a ‘kind snaffle’, because the rider thinks anything more is ‘mean’, kind of just trains the horse to be dull/lean/pull? We should always look at finding the preferred mouthpiece for each horse - they each have a unique mouth shape with their own bit preference, & if we can find the right mouthpiece to make the horse comfortable, & train the horse diligently, then we will hopefully have a fun time!

@@amandarosseventingfit6803 Excellent explanation of what I originally was trying to say. Yes, it all depends on the rider's hands, because some "Expert " riders can have heavy hands, some lite hands. I normally witness very strong hands with beginners, but sometimes a heavy handed rider can be found at all levels. 100% true about using an extra gentle bit, but excessive pulling by the rider to try to achieve a basic frame, pretty much defeats the purpose and hurts horse, and develops heavy hands in the process. It's a delicate balance of using the equipment appropriately, to keep the horse and rider comfortable. Of course your explanation was far better than mine. I find it interesting that it's a topic that should be discussed more in the equine world, rather than all bits are bad, etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for an interesting perspective! 😀🐴

I use a running gag on my mare as she has a tendency to buck when excited(she's not in pain our vet, farrier, chiro, and massage therapist and saddle fitter have checked her oh and our dentist). Anyhoodles, she actually gets much more upset with a metal snaffle so a cheltenham gag with a soft flexible mouthpiece is her favourite. Gives me to control I need(occasionally I have to ditch the top rein) and the comfort she deserves
