The constant tracking of everything digitally.. the service manager making $200000 plus profit bonus and he stealing gas for his whole family sits in a chair watching the cameras saying a guy isn’t moving enough cars in and out never mentioning how the jobs always got done right clean and no one got hurt while making you purchase all of the tools in the shop and breaking your tools and loosing pieces to sets from your tools because the six figure guy has no tools switched to agricultural mech then industrial mech with robots now happy
I advise anybody who will listen NOT to be a mechanic You do so much free work under warranty The average pay is 40k a year! HVAC pays close to 100k All is great until something goes wrong, then you are called a liar and a thief Chrysler owes me 250k for 20 years of free warranty work. Sure work for years doing free work and work yourself up to do MORE free work. PAY up suckers!
they always blame the technician when the job is not related. like you do the brake job and after a week the customer will come back and blame the technician that the car is not cranking or starting. and wanted a free diagnostic. My advise... please go to another field, this career sucks.
my apartment/garage/parking space lease agreement states that it's illegal/prohibited for me to maintain/repair/clean my own vehicle...if it's in my rented garage space, then that's kind of bullshit...aka financial enslavement
there isnt a technician shortage theres a pay shortage. pay them better, then there wont be a shortage!
these guys need to get paid by the hr not flat rate

Been a tech for years I highly recommended for nobody to become a mechanic! It’s a joke the whole industry.
